  1. Tales of the old Gamekeepers by Brian P Martin, covers keepers as far back as the 1880's to modern day, following there lives from start to finish and keepering methods. Good read.

  5. Thanks lads, Yeh her coat is real tight at the moment but time will tell how she ends up. I got her from just outside Preston from a deerstalker, who also uses her Dam for rough shooting and picking up. Her Sire is Zack from the Musket Kennels. And yes stroller she has some attitude on her (which i do like) and if she grows into her ears she has some growing to do Gona let her be a pup for the moment but cant wait to start her training, am pleased i am starting Duck flighting tomorrow to take my mind off it Dave
  6. I have been interested in this breed for a while now and found myself a litter from a good working strain. This is Beau (pronounced Bow) Her first Point She is nice, bold and highly spirited, so i have no worries about her hunting. But i might have my work cut out in her training Dave.
  7. That sounds like bad crack that mate. Sorry Mally but the pups all went last week end, Was a shock as we went from 11 - 0 within 3 days of each other. Cheers Dave.
  8. Looks like he is keeping that nice tight coat mate How is the rest of his training coming on? ATB Dave.
  9. I think most of the fat bitches you see that have been spayed are pet dogs. Like whats been said if you manage there diet and excercise right you shouldnt have a problem. Some say bitches loose there drive after spaying, but its the weight gain that makes them loose there drive. I have seen plenty lurcher spayed bitches that have awsome drive, before and after spaying. ATB Dave.

  16. I agree with mooch The dog is just doing what comes natural, its up to you to control that by making her steady and only go hunt or retrieve when commanded.

  20. Fern seemed hot and had a bit of discharge, so Mrs Dave C took her to the vets because we thought she might have an infection, her pups were not due for over a week so better safe than sorry. The vet could not hear any heart beats so off to the main vet in the town she went for a scan, but the wife feared the worst at that point. The scan showed 3 pups and the vet said she may have a slight infection and gave her antibiotics but said it was nothing serious as she wes well off her labour and everything seemed normal, the wife was surprised at only 3 pups as Fern was huge but you have to take
