  1. Nice 1 mate, looks like she is coming on well for you now mate. Well done for sticking with it
  2. We have had 3 Duck flights so far, got 48 I have been beating on the Grouse moor to get the dogs fit, but its our shoots first day on the 26th
  3. Well done Jimy, its great when thing start coming together, just dont push her to much she obviously wasnt ready but is coming on a bit now, she is still young but if you just go at her pace she will keep improving.
  4. I have a young Wire Vizla starting this season, i had no trouble with her facing the cover, as she just followed the Lab. Job done
  5. She is really steping up her game to be honest mate she is nearly 16 months now and starting to come into her own. Shot a few rabbits, pigeons and crows over her now and she has handled it well, i have not and will not use her on the Ducks this season, although she will retrieve from water, i just dont have the control when she is in the water compared to on land. We are on the Grouse next week end, then end of October i have over 30 days booked in so we will see how she faires. Do or die i think mate. Did you shoot any rabbits last week or just go up for training control?
  6. Thats the fence type we use but we leave in situe. Then grind pop holes in the sides, bend mesh round the bottom so nothing can dig in and an electric fence round the outside, Food, water and some cover in, job done.
  7. As you know there is no better feeling than when it all starts kicking in HH With my Lab i stopped giving her lots of dummy retrieves at about 6 months, doing blinds in thick cover. Her retrieve drive was so strong she knew the only way she would get one was to hunt out the cover. I then stopped completely when i started rough shooting rabbits over her, so she knew she had to flush the rabbit however thick the cover was if she had any chance of a retrieve. After a few months she was and still does hunt like a demon, you can then go back to dummy work if you want to tidy her up.
  8. hilly on here had a very smart litter recently and the Dam looks a good working type, pm him and see if he has any left
  9. He is looking well mate with a perfect coat Pleased things are slotting into place it makes all the work you put in worth while. You are right to take things slowly if you are looking to trial him mate.
  10. You cant get any fairer than that mate
  11. Hull Special Pigeon 32g 6's for everything. Oh and their steel version for the Ducks.
  12. As long as she is managing ok cleaning and feeding them and healthy in her self, i would leave them all on her. She wants to be on a good quality food / Puppy food at 3 or even 4 feeds a day and obviously plenty of fluids. Keep a close eye on her and as long as she get them to 3 weeks or over they will be fine to wean onto solid food. You know your bitch so you will know if she is struggling.
  13. This is Jessie doing her first retrieve, she is the bitch i am keeping from the litter i bred. She is 6 weeks old now.

  19. If you like Labs just get a Lab mate. If you get one from the right lines they hunt very keenly and have excellent staminar. On a shoot day mine beats all day then picks the Ducks on the Flight afterwards, she is also spot on rough shooting
  20. If thats her in your avitar, she is a smart thing as well You cant beat walked up days and rough shooting over hard hunting dogs
  21. Hi Peter, welcome to the forum What kind of shooting do you do over the ESS and how is she coming on for you, are you happy with her progress? ATB Dave.

  23. Your right mate. Canny believe that she done that without showing any signs off distress. Even had my Mum up during the day as she had her when she had her first litter and she also thought she was doing great. Hardy bitch.....( not my mum) lol
