  1. I made the post in reply to the lad asking about stamina, I'm not intending breeding a litter as My lab bitch Fern was speyed last year. Here she is
  2. I'd go for a 60D mate much more robust and more iso settings etc. The 550D & 600d are plastic the 60d is made from magnesium alloy much more robust, you get a better range of iso settings and more frames per second for the action shots.
  3. I've a lab bitch here (kc registered but working pedigree) she's 6 years old now. Fantastic stamina and quick too. She's as quick on the last retrieve of the day as she was on her first. If you use a working Lab i'm sure you won't go far wrong, just stay clear of the fat good for nothing show lines
  4. I think it may be a sign of trying to run before you can walk mate. I'm not having a pop in anyway mate but a pup at that age i would just be doing the basics, sit and heel work on the lead, certainly no retrieves. There's plenty of time for that. The most important thing is to get the dog steady and the basics 100% before doing anything else. 2 x 10 minute training sessions a day is more than enough for a 16 week old pup.
  5. I'll stick to my whippets mate, Where would todays lurcher be without whippets, greyhounds, saluki's and collies??? You wouldn't have the pure breeds to outcross lurchers with if the wasn't for the kc registered dogs about and people keeping the breeding lines going. Yes some of the kc breeds are totally f****d, but thankfully theres still a few of us who keep kc registered dogs that are fit for purpose.
  6. I'll have that mate, mine went tit's up last week buddy, and i need more space
  7. Vixens just out of season mate and could look better to be honest, she needs a month and some sun on her back to get her back in to the condition i like her in. your dogs are allways in good nic. but cant all be on top form all of the time. this little bitch is the best condition of mine at the moment. next month it will be a different dog. the point is your dogs allways look well cared for and you make the best of them with your pics. Thanks for that mate really appreciate your comments. I believe you only get out of a dog what you put into them. That includes food, exerci

  9. Took a few photo's of the dogs today, seeing as it's about the only day it's not rained for over a week!!
  10. You always get one. I've seen her with my own eyes mate.
  11. I can't understand this, Thats what whippets are known for, quick on the turns. I've run my whippets with a friends Pure Saluki's and they couldn't match the whippets on the tight 180-360 degree turns. I've got a saluki x greyhound and she's the same, Sagar my whippet turns her in knots when there messing about. Sagar is quicker than the saluki x grehound over 25-30 yds in a straight line, but after that it's all one way. I agree. Mine are the same! maybe iv a good saluki an a bad whippet because when im watching them run about im wondering what the whippet going to add to a pup that

  13. I always put the tablet/s in a piece of cheese and it works 100%. If i'm worming them with panacur 10% liquid i mix it with a little bit of beef mince.
  14. Thats about right mate, although it does depend on the individual dog. I usually feed as you do and its worked for me with the whippets mate.
  15. I think there's 3 bitches and a dog (once Matts decided which dog he's keeping). Give him call on the number on the first post mate, he'll beable to tell you whats available.
  16. This is the sire to the Dam, Britany x non ped whippet. (Matt was having problems posting the image) This is the Mother to the Dam 100% Burrell lines
  17. Give Matt a call mate he'll give you all the info mate.07776 268839
  18. The pics are make the pups look bigger than they are mate. They were 51/2 weeks old when the photo's were taken.
  19. As above, ready to go now. The sire to the litter is my dog 'Sagar' Kc registered whippet 21". Matthew who owns the bitch is keeping 2 dogs back, he's having one and his friends having a dog. There is 1 dog and 3 bitches available and there ready to go now. The bitches should make 21"- 22" and the dogs 21"-23" both sire and dam are good working dogs. Bitches available. Please call Matt on 07776 268839 for more info. Pups are in Leics area.
  20. Thanks for the kind comments lads. Gareth contacted me a couple of weeks ago via pm asking me about whippets in general. During which time Sagar covered a nice strong blue whippet bitch standing at 22" she is pedigree but the owner didn't have the kc papers. From my experience in whippets i'm 99% sure she's sooty sam lines and is a cracking bitch. With her not having papers the pups will be a realistic price. Kev the bitches owner is only breeding her as he would like a pup as does his son, daughter and a couple of his mates. I phones Kev yesterday on Gareths behalf and reserved a bitch pup (if
  21. Ive never heard that...... It's mentioned earlier in the thread Ya i see that but apart from hearing it on hear ive never ever heard that any where else, i wonder if the people who said that breed they bay colour dog with a bay colour bitch???? If you are refering to Vixens litter, The dog i used was brindle you prick. Blue to blue and black to black matings arn't advised but you would have known that bredding the best pups in the country wouldn't you?? Just let me go to the bank lol.
  22. I'd never use frontline again Skycat, the advocate does all mites including both mange types, ear mites, fleas, ticks and even roundworms. As also stated it could be a diet issue. If they were my dogs i'd use advocate and if that didn't help alter there diet.
  23. I think the main problem with the whippets is people breed a litter sell the pups and think this is easy money and start to over breed. What i can't understand is this, How can anyone say a bitch is a working bitch when it's having 2 litters a year?? Surely that should read the bitch works the 16 weeks a year when she's not in pup or rearing pups!!. How anyone can do this to a bitch i'll never know, they obvously have no respect for the dogs in there care. I have enquiries for pups all the time and would have no problems selling 2 litters a year, would i do it? certainly not. I respect
  24. There's a bloke who has a stand at the Peterborough show who does some nice double leather slips mate, I have an old set of double leather and brass coursing slips that i use throughout the season and they work great with no problems. The best thing in using such slips is the dogs are running without collars so nothing for them to snag on when they run through hedges etc.
  25. Go back to the vets and ask for some advocate mate. Pop it on the back of there necks and the problem should be sorted if it's mites etc.
