The decrying of others such as the chap getting the leopard film and the naturalist youtuber mentioned earlier in this thread is undignified but the name calling is simply childish, even if the questions and ascertains of posters cause some cognitive dissonance surely a grown man can have some small measure of composure. I find it difficult to give credence to a person who's not even able to discuss a subject without such rather sad schoolboy outbursts. i can only suggest a look in the mirror to judge your age then an attempt to act accordingly.

Indeed but what we do have is a leopard on Zanzibar which demonstrates that getting proof of the existence of a big cat isn't so difficult. It would be good if it were a native subspecies.

Re the film, from the footage I for one wouldn't call him a liar, looks to be a leopard. Plus we have prior plausibility in that they are native to the islands. if we had verified footage from the UK I'd be excited to think we had at least one big cat. The island is about the size of Dartmoor and Exmoor combined, although heavily forested unlike the moors, yet people can walk in and get footage in two weeks with basic camera traps, not fuzzy images of indiscernible black creature or distance film of cattus domesticus. Feck did I, some poor dead fecker on the bed behind me still warm, just to macabre for me. Couple of weeks later i started one morning on early's after she'd been on nights and youngish patient said to me " that nurse on last night she's a bit "friendly" isn't she", with a look of mild horror in his eyes, at that point i had to have a chat with the manager and she left shortly after.... nought stranger than folk.

I met a cougar once, I was not long qualified and had sort guidance with preparing a body for "Rose Cottage", a nurse of indeterminate years offered me assistance but once finished as i squeezed past her in an attempt to leave the side room she pounced upon me?. As you can imagine I was taken somewhat aback, one with how quickly she could move her hands as i attempted to defend myself, like an octopus? but more so that there was a dead body in the room with us? Definitely a dangerous and unpredictable creature...........................

Trails are key, cats, like most predators use trails to travel from area to area, the route of least resistance, so putting cameras out in the middle of nowhere will get nothing but on a track or trail, if they are there they will come. if you look around the world this is exactly what they do and do so successfully. So if you put a camera trap on the path by Paulus's Freelander you'll be spot on. ?

Big cat hybrids are pretty much unknown in the wild, you need prolonged proximity as well as lack of alternative and in the wild different species tend to avoid proximity to other species to the extent of hybridising. Isolated populations of pumas and jaguars in the Americas, Tiger and Lions in India, Lions and leopards in Africa etc all avoid hybridising to the point of local extinction.
