On our local BBC news last night they were on about the goverment paying bursaries to get students to study science. Every student they interviewed thought it was a great idea to get paid £1000 to study science. Every student they interviewed also looked like the next round of al queda suicide bombers
My eldest starts senior school on Thurs and my youngest starts primary school. My other half thought she was in for some peice & quiet but now she'll have me at home moaning about being bored cos I've got a broken leg and can't get out and about.
Cheers boys & girls. It's not a bad break. The tendon pulled and the force of it broke a piece off the bottom of the fibula. It shouldn't take too long to get sorted but I can't risk doing anything that might delay recovery. I'm a self employed gardener and this years been bad enough with the weather etc. Have to earn as many tokens as possible during the summer to pay for my winter excursions.
It's a Phormium or New Zealand Flax. You should prune it in spring beacause it can be damaged by frost. Basically cut back any dead or unwanted stems as far as you can. Wear gloves etc when you do it. Those leaves are razor sharp.
To get rid if the ferns get a spade & start digging. If you don't fancy the job yourself I'm sure there are plenty on here who would like some digging practice before the season starts. Unfortunately most weedkillers these days are useless.
There was a piece on this very subject on tv this week. Apparently "legal tender" doesn't come into it apart from dealings between financial institutions. There is no risk involved for the shopkeeper or whoever because the Bank of Scotland deposits monies with the Bank of England to cover their "Currency". In all Shop/pub etc transactions the method of payment is by whatever means are agrred between the two parties. So next time you go out for a pint you could offer the barman a camel, 3 crickly bottom groats or your mother-in-law & so long as the barman is willing to accept then you have
Saw the news earlier & two things came to mind. Firstly the amount of whites among the jingle jangle brigade. Secondly was the totally different picture that would have been had it been 100 or so farmers trying to block the men from the ministry, most likely another parliament square
Its true what they say about time being a great healer and over time you will be glad that you have done what you had to do. Let him go quietly & with dignity and remember the good times he's given you.
Meanwhile tonight, enjoy the party!!
Tomo, why not support your local hunt. The South Notts have had a pretty rough few monmths and I'm sure their new huntsman who has set this show up could do with all the support he can get.
Just my opinion.
Some great photos there skycat. Make mine look like they were taken on one of those pinhole cameras taht we made at school lol!!
Wilf, I wonder if it was the same woman who was doing the comentary in the lurcher ring. Most of my time was spent looking at the terriers and the old english hounds and I couldn't escape this womans voice bleating on about hunting within the law and all sorts of bollox.
