Total disgusting and inhumane demo of how "NOT TO DO IT".
Phantom replied to zini's topic in Airgun Hunting
How many shots to kill a rat Inhumane b*****d Who in their right mind would use 30ft/lbs for rats The chances of a Ricochet penetrating the shooters cloathes and skin are high enough with a 10-12 but 30? What a total F K WIT, if he's a pro (Prof Fecking Idiot maybee) as has been claimed, then he would surely know the risk he is taking with both his own health and that of the person with him. Not only that but even at long range a 30ft/lbs job is only going to overpenetrate and deposit such little kinetic energy into the animal that its gonna make it easy for the animal to run a -
I use a light 3 in one type oil or WD40 sprayed onto the rag. Depending on whats handy. Forgot to say I take the Air cylinder out and do the same with that on the S200. The 400/410 I don't think thats feasable (?) but you can take the stock off and dry and coat the underside of the Air cylinder. Phantom

Best bet is to wipe it down with a dry lint free clothe after each session And then wipe it down with an oily rag, that will help you achieve keeping the gun in tip top condition I wouldn't strip it down unless you really have to (seal blown etc....) ATB Phantom

Hey there Si I bet you were, I would have been too Unfortunately I cant mentor him or teach him until he decides he needs to learn. Until then, I'll just have to hope he doesn't notice the difference in sound between when I fire and when he fires Im more than happy to teach him to shoot Phantom

Welcome aboard Owen. I've not had the pleasure of shooting the Ultra yet, but that is set to change at Xmas The Twink comes in "VERY HIGHLY" recomended, by those that have them. As do a few others such as the HW's and SAK's. I currently use a modified Air Arms Silencer on my S200 and sometimes if I'm in the mood to change, I have a custom made UKNiel one. Scopes? Soooo many to choose from but have a look at the Hawke range http://www.hawkeoptics.com/ Look under RifleScopes. Again, :welcomeani: Phantom

Fantastic Ron, I'll look forward to meeting you in person Phantom

A very reasonable output me thinks Easily more than enough to drop bunnies and all other quarry your gonna meet. My XS19 runs at 10.5 with AAF's and is certainly capable of doing the biz. When you think back, a lot of the best british rifles did the biz on our quarry and most didn't exceed 8ft/lbs until well after the war. Phantom

Nightwish? The handle anything to do with the band? Just got a load of their cd's but not listened to them yet. Hey Ron, The last meet was the 1st time I'd actually done a full course. I'd had the odd shot at Roos, but never did the course because I never considdered myself good enough for HFT Simply because its very, very competative round here and the locals tend to use things like Styers and Ripley's etc..... I only took part in Davy's and Chaz's because I had made the journey from up here and thought 'what the ell, I'm here I'll give it a go, got sod all to loose, I'm

Hey guy's That place looks ideal do we still get to set up the BBQ etc? Don't forget though we want a long range shot of 100 yards Very nice find Davy, very nice indeed Phantom

Well said Davy I wouldn't climb up the grain mountains or swim through the shit pit to recover em either! The ones I shot that fell into the drains, stayed there, the ones I shot on the walls and fell down the sides I left, the ones in the roof I left, the ones I shot on the R1 stayed put as there was no way I was gonna climb up there and risk going through the shed roofs either. The ones I shot in my pic's either fell into the feed hoppers, or were from down the sides of the buildings. Same with the ones Dillan shot Like I said, impractical or impossible to recover them all. I w

Thanks for the link, It appears to be basically the same torch only mine has one flat face on it and is called "UltraFire" and its half the price! I generally get a good long time out of the rechargable batteries maybe three or 4 outings, but as the temerature drops, the rechargable batteries don't like it too much, so I always take spares and swap as and when needed. Once the cold pair are warmed up again in my pocket, they work fine again. Please not that the advert says "UP to 7 hours" on non rechargable batteries. This would depend on the age of the batteries, and whether they ar

I was supposed to be going out last night to the cemetery around 11-11:30 with a mate of mine, I've mentioned him on here before. Now the problem with him is that 1/ he talks a lot, 2/ he will happily light up a fag, 3 he goes a little overboard with the deoderant/aftershave. As well as that he's only ever fired a rifle a couple of times. Don't get me wrong, this guy is a gem to have as a friend and I have known him for about 19 years and he's a good laugh and he will do anything for anyone if he can the only thing really wrong with him is that he wants to jump straight in head firs

Hello and :welcomeani: to the forum. I've not seen the SMK lamp yet. There is a link on this thread (post number three) it is the one I've been using last year and this year and its not let me down yet http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/168432-rifle-lamps/ Cost half the price of the Ledray and almost identical specifications apart from it delivers twice as much light to wherever you point it. I can light up my paddock from one side to the other lengthways and see bunnies in the far corners (about 100 yards). I got it on a recomendation from a fellow hunter, I have not

Unfortunately it's not always possible or indeed practical to recover all the bodies when shooting rats If it were, the photo's in my ratting post would have been very impressive as well Phantom

Way to go Davy n Chaz Really improves your target aquisition and standing shots don't it Well done gents Phantom

I took a leaf out of Andy's book (Think it was him) scrunched up a bit of foil and used it as a scouring pad to remove the rust. Leaves the metal looking silver like, but that is then removed with a bit of cloth (I used the microfibre one) to remove the aluminium and the rust dust. Then wiped it down with an oily rag to help protect it from the oxygen in the air. Phantom

Last week I went out for a bit of a shoot in the cemetery and popped a bunny for the ferrets. It rained very heavily and it was so cold I needed a hot coffee. As it was very late, I had my coffee, wrote a couple of emails and then tucked myself up after swallowing a sleeper. Planning on going out with a pal of mine this evening I decided to check my baby over and make sure the cylinder is up to pressure Well F k me, I was mortified to see the state of her on both the barrel and the cylinder (mainly the cylinder). It was still matt black but with large areas of Orange/brown RUS

If it was made for the UK market, it will not be over the limit However the export models were/are capable of 16or more ft/lbs at the muzzle. Phantom

We do have members on here from N.I. I've seen the application form a good while back; fill it in as best and as truthfully as you can and mention that you already have the land available to shoot vermin. Can't see them refusing it for you Good luck Phantom -
Posted for you bud, 1st class you should have it in the morning Phantom
