  2. mally where did I accuse you of being a liar? I said you did nt mention a fact that was later brought up How many members on here 35,000 plus and 22 decide to enter a lamping comp doesnt give them immunity from criticism or does it? Im not a politician but like anyone else I have an opinion and will express it through freedom of speech. I'll leave it there for now mally before I say too much Y.I.S Leeview
  3. Tomo, the moon was almost FULL, no cloud, no wind, and there were lamps on the permission in front of us, and a Trasnsit van driving the fields and lamping, so hardly good condititions !! I had drove 140 mile and stayed over, so it wasn't a case of not trying !! You didn't enter this years comp because of family commitments, Bolt and myself had to run on this date because of OUR family commitments; he had just got back from NZ , and my family is off to Oz for 4 month next week, so this was the only date we could arrange. We enjoyed ourselves, so why should it worry anyone else ????? No men

  8. Personally in 50yrs of ferreting I've yet to net a rabbit with its head through a first row mesh so dont see the need to have 16-18 meshes on the ring. Believe me its easier to do than writing all that down Y.I.S Leeview

  14. just a question "is it 400yds of net to make 200yds or 200yds to make 100yds of net both with 100% bagging" that you have bought? Y.I.S Leeview
  15. Typical southern wush, laughs at there jokes, because no one else finds them funny.... Haha, i'll class my self in the middle. It would have been even more funny if it was the other way around. If I'd of turned it round you'd of still been in the middle Y.I.S Leeview
  16. when you rig them in traditional fashion do you use a small set of end pins due to the little amont of net? on a tangent, does anyone have a link on a tutorial of how to tie sheet netting onto purse net rings? thanks atb rob I use the regular sized end pins as the mesh is the same size on both nets as for your second question I've never used sheet netting so cant help you there Y.I.S Leeview
  17. the electric fence poles are hollow with a steel spike at the bottom, some have a twisted piece on top as well, they look OK but they're really brittle and snap/shatter under the slightest of flexing IME Y.I.S Leeview
  18. Bet his roof leaks or someones does Truly amazing talent he's got there Y.I.S Leeview
  19. I have about 6 of these nets and they are worth there wieght in gold. As leeview i make my own and i always put 21/2yds of netting to one yd of net in these nets. so a 12 yard net has 30 yds of netting. I've had six rabbits in a net at the same time, plus if the net gets snagged on the hedge there is always enough bagging to kill a rabbit... I don't bother with a salvage line though i just use the sheet netting with the double knitted top and bottom line in 6z 54mm mesh.. Just out of interest Leeview do you use these nets as quick set or traditional?? i use them as traditional as i find it muc
  20. yea your right rabbits down here bolt and run along under the hedges. Dont they just never encountered anything like it in the dales, whole different ball game moving down here Y.I.S Leeview
  21. True Leeview. But it also keeps the bottom line taught. I find in theory and a bowling green type field and you can get away with 7 to 8 yard placings. Most fields however are not like that, and each set requires a different amount of pegs. Some sets will require placings of down to 3 yards because of the conturs of the ground for half a net and 7 to 8 for the rest of the set. The truth is you set your pegs to suit the ground you are working. TC If the grounds uneven I'll peg the bottom line down without introducing another pole, by peg I mean something like a purse net peg notched
  22. I start off putting 8 meshes onto the ring, next row make 2 meshes on the first and last meshes. now you have 10 meshes knit onto each mesh in the third row, next row(4th) make 2 meshes on the first and last meshes, you now have 12 meshes knit onto each in the fifth row, next row(6th) make 2 meshes on the first and last meshes and your up to 14 carry on until the 10th row and you should have 18 meshes, I then knit 3 rows of 18 meshes at the start of the 14th row pick up 2meshes and make one mesh, the same with the last two on the row,you now have 16 meshes, knit one mesh onto each of these, ne
