inbreeding WILL exagerate the worst and best of each parent? not always, CAN exagerate the worst OR best of each parent a litter could throw cracking pups getting what you want, then these same pups could throw the worst nightmare of a litter How would you know if either parent had a reccessive faulty gene? or its partner did nt? Well migmog I'll start a Peddler to me is someone who breeds from untested dogs ie its caught a few on the lamp ONE night therefore they think its a world beater and people should be beating a path to their door £2-300 in hand begging them to have a pup from the said dog, then theres the others buying in dogs to be sold on sooner rather than later for a profit as world beaters Strange post for a relative newcomer? stick around and watch the board for a few months You'll soon see what I mean Y.I.S Leeview

You hit the nail on the head there not just the large and small pups but inbreeding also affects the immune system of the offspring The link I put up, theres cases of adult dogs dieing at an early age, less than 10yrs old could be coincidence without autopsy's who knows? Y.I.S Leeview

Been reading this thread with interest and think some replies are confusing linebreeding with inbreeding Linebreeding would be having the same grandsire/granddam on the top and bottom half of a pedigree(past breeding) Inbreeding is close relatives X each other a one off you may be lucky but not very often, earlier it was mentioned fatherx daughter was ok but not mother xson ? Have a look at this link http://thewhippetarchives.net/details.php?id=15680 Y.I.S Leeview

KW and myself were ferretting partners for several years in the dales I travelled up and he came down, I still do have a massive amount of permission in several dales, we lamped together but trying to keep up with him(im nearly 20yrs older than him still) was like a yomp and just let him get on with i

Antique, quick release, double dog slip lead
Leeview replied to bullmastiff's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
if as you say they re for lurchers they wont be very old, less than 30yrs old at the most so not of any great value, on the other hand they may be whippet slips and they re harder to come by than the greyhound slips, pre ban you could pick up excellent sets for less than £100 on a good day Y.I.S Leeview -

Value would depend on wether they're English or Irish pattern? the English being the much more sought after the pictures would help identify them Y.I.S Leeview -
i never said it either ,i was just pointing out that the dog would have to be on the go for 3or4 hours ,just trot a dog behind a car and see how long it will last .never mind how fit it was The Stamina card has been brought up a few times in this topic How long would a Lab or a spaniel be on the go for on a grouse moor beating? or a collie working on the dales or fells? The collie that could nt put in a full day EVERY day would nt be around that long. Y.I.S Leeview lee,i work my dog loose ,and it is a hard thing for it to keep up the same pace for 3 or 4 hours ,they just cant do it .

Picture the scene; Dark December'96 night wind howling in their faces, forestry at their backs the rabbits feeding well out 2 lads set of lamping these pastures, they've known about this situation for a long time just waiting for the conditions to be in there favour, the colliex's were picking the rabbits up and retrieving them live to hand, many of them were squatting out in the field as there refuge was "blocked by these 2 lampers" with their backs to the forestry, the bitches were not flying out they just made there way down the side of the beam and onto these squatters from their squat som

i'm not saying its possible to kill a 100 rabbits i'm saying its not impossible for a dog to have a 100 rabbit runs and need carrying off the fields! but the answer to your question would be if you was out for 5 hours then the dog would have to do that in about 3 mins each time, (5x60=300) (300/100=3 mins) then a dog would have to be running continous for about 3or 4 hours and on the move for 5 it cant do it . Please read my thread again, I never said the dogs were running flat out? they werent carrying the rabbits off the fields, Doesn't anyone have dogs that walk down the beam anymore
