Think of how a pup is disciplned as a whelp?, its growled at by its mother, a low threatening growl, and if the pup does it again, it gets the same again, occasionally a quick nip off it's dam and its problem solved, now i'm not suggesting that you get down on all fours and growl etc, but its inbred into the dogs pshyci (spelling ), if any of mine while out start to grip my shit by being "clever", they get a very low down human type growl with the odd explective included (thats for my benefit not theirs ) , but it makes the growl last longer . Eye contact, as has already been mentioned is a

Its the local sheep shaggers that volunteer the postcode, once you arrive at their place theres a park and ride service ( excuse the pun ), to the aforementioned pens !! .lol Enjoy.

Just as an add on to this, it may be of use to you as I found it first rate. A year or two ago I was given a load of horse meat, as I didn't have quite enough room in my freezer for the lot I put some in large sheep lick style buckets to use up first and covered it in water to keep the flies off. I had a litter of hound whelps on the deck at the time and used to soak the dried food with this dark coloured liquid. I kid you not, the shine on those pups was something to behold, as they progressed I introduced the meat itself as well as the foul smelling water mix to the dried food. I dont t

Best venue I have ever been to a show Al, cant be beaten, and for such a remote place, theres not half some cracking dogs there on show, all sorts, more hound packs, terriers and lurchers than you could shake a stick at mate, and some real top quality ones as well. All in all, a real good day out with top dawer competition for the dogs. B

Got a grid reference for you as well if it'll help. If you go there, you'll see why a grid ref and postcode are essential, a proper out in the hills show. Grid Ref : SN903716. Hope this helps more people get ther for a cracking day out. If it's sunny, you'll need sunblock, if it's raining take your oilskins ! simples. ATB B

On the country lanes where I exercise the dogs on the bike, the main hazzard I get is a squirell or a rabbitt darting accross on in front of you !! . I always try and have a few loops of the lead loose in my hand so at least when I see the rabbit or squirrell it gives me a chance to get my arse off the saddle and my feet on the ground before the inevitable " TWANG" as the lead gets tested by the dog !!lol. Trouble is you have to have a much longer lead, but thats a small price to pay, other than coursing and working, it's the best sort of exercise you can give your dog IMHO, good for

I had one a few years ago, sire to my present dog, catch rabbits and daytime hares, retreive live to hand every time, rip anything out of the ground one after the other and tackle any fox above ground single handed without fail. I would honestly say, one of the most versatile crosses that also has the prey drive that I have ever seen. Like as already been said, wish i had him now. He was more use to me than I ever was to him. B -
Nice set up mate, plenty of fresh air without the draughts, choice of in to sleep or out in the warm weather, I've lived in worst myself !!
-
My kennels are 5 in a row, block all round, drainage to the front and into the septic tank, raised benches in the back inside sleeping quarters, zinc roofing sheets with clear ones every other so not dark at all. But you must have ventilation at the back of runs to allow clean air to enter, circulate and remove the stale air, without causing draughts, theres nothing that'll set a dog back thats recovering from working injuries than a f@ckin draughty kennel, fresh air yes, lots of it, droaughts, No. My next project is to find some decent working dogs to put in the bloody kennels.lol

Tried to send you a pm mate but i think your inbox may be full.

Mine came from the unmistakeable noise when dog and prey meet head on, in a tube or out on top , Boootsha ! contact. Better than sex ( and lasts longer )

Nice job, well thought out in advance, will see you right for years mate.

Hi mate Why not build the whole set up out of blocks, dividing runs and all, be cheaper than galv runs long term and it'll help tie in the rest of the structure. Thats how mine are built and it suits me fine. One bit of advice, try and find the sewer line and or manhole nearest to the new kennells. At the fron end of your runs ( where your run floors should be graded to) make a channell in the concrete using troughing, run this to your nearest shit pipe/ manhole, tap it straight in, bobs your uncle and fanny's your uncle berts girlfriend !! Save you Shitloads of work longterm (excuse
