  1. We have ALL stapled our dogs at some point or another, it's not a sin, (against the law evidently) not all of us can afford vet's with no idea what to charge, and quite often your dog can be stapled up as soon as you get back to the vehicle, so better for him or her. Give L&L his due , he's only trying to help a fela out. Have a drink on me L&L ATB WAB
  2. Well done the Celts, Ireland for the grand slam !!!!!
  3. The best way I have found is to put a (low and small) piece of wood at the entrance to the kennel / run, every time the pup wants and does come out it will cross this in-ofensive barrier, pups I mean any age, 8 weeks even, they see it as an obstacle, but they are already learning to lift their feet up and scramble/ climb over things, teaching themselves without realising it. As the pup grows, raise the piece of wood, it wont be long before that pups doesn't even look at the obstacle and will be hopping over it without a second thought, combine this with your command of "hup" or whatever you w
  4. Reduce his area for exercising without going over the top, a small dog kennell or similar and feed him barley, as much as he wants, some say that will flavour the meat more than a fattening food from the farmers supplies. Hope this helps.
  5. I would agree, sound like warrens, got a few myself. Get some more of the same, some free range farms sell them off ( OR GIVE THEM AWAY!)at 72 weeks ( having only laid one season) as the people they supply say the shell quality is poor from then on, as for meat birds, try some Cobb's, white birds, meat only. 6. Yup Looks the stuff to me fella, I would advise getting a small moisture meter mate, they only cost about a fiver, leave inside the incubator with the eggs then you can ajust the ventilation accordingly, obviously the humidity levels are different for different egg species, have a good read about the humidity levels for the eggs your hoping to hatch before you start, also start your incubator and leave it running for at least 24 hrs at the correct temp before you put any eggs in, dont worry that the temperature will drop once you have put the eggs in, thats normal, dont ajust the temp afte
  7. Welcome to the site fella. ATB WAB
  8. Happy Birthday Stabs, all the best. WAB
  9. Impatient, also inexperienced and add in not got a feckin clue as to Bull crooses and you've about got it right mate. An adult, well bred, well socialised and well handled Bull cross at his or her work will take most peoples breath away, but you cant jump the queue, there are no short cuts to bringing on a young dog, put the time and effort in and you'll reap the rewards, cut corners and.................. just look at the for sale section.
  10. I have phoned the mobile number with regard to re homing the bitch but no response, if this fella's fallen on hard times I'd willingly give it back to him when his fortune changes, no strings attached, it's the least anyone could do for a fellow dog man. If you read this Ratmogit give me a ring, am not a million miles away from you mate, check your mobile messages, get in touch, am in mid wales. ATB WAB

  12. I hope this doesn't de- generate into a slanging match between two very good authors. I have bought books by both and enjoyed them very much, and wouldn't like to see them verbally tearing shreds off each other, especially if JD isn't the guilty party of having moved the post to another section, what I will say is this, WHOEVER did it ought to have had the courtesy, good manners and BALLS to inform Pick and shovel of that move taking place. There endeth the sermon, Amen...... ATB WAB
  13. Good on you L & L ,more genuine dog people like you and yours is what the dog world needs. Bless you my son

  15. That should be fine fella , as they'll only be in at night to roost etc, make sure there is good ventilation (without draughts) as their crap is very strong in the Ammonia dept. You'll have a ball with a couple of hens, not to mention eggs . They might take a while to perch though as not many ex batts have had a go at that treat. Good luck and enjoy. ATB WAB

  17. Hi Ray Lots of crosses available to you and no doubt will all be mentioned in due course. Have had first crosses, as has been already said, spot on for drawing and if you get the "rangier" build ones then your away fella for charlie boy etc on the bolt or from cover, I now use ( when I can) Bull X Greyhound to a Bull greyhound collie greyhound, got that little bit more sense when needed, a splash more brains but when that switch is flicked to "ON" as game as you'd want. Again, this is just what I use now after trying a few different crosses, having said that, theres something special abou
  18. Hi GD I use it to wash and sterilise the incubator and all other relevant equipment, I dont wash my eggs before incubating as long as they are not dirty to start with, but I dilute it at the recomended rate for general disinfecting and use it mixed, in the water troughs in my octagon as the humidity solution, by doing this it will kill any bacteria present on the eggs and also sterilise the air circulaying around the eggs. Works for me every time. Hope this helps you out mate. ATB WAB
  19. Get Miltons sterilising solution from the chemist, I use it every time, it works a treat and is cheap compared with the so called "proper" incubation disinfectants. Hope this helps. WAB
  20. Theres some good timber in that 'un !
  21. I always thought that the Pye line dogs tended to be black and white in colour? Not that colour makes a hoot of difference. Where are these lines now?, HOPEFULLY jealously guarded from peddlars and messers, , good thing perhaps they aren't freely available to all and sundry, or those lines might end up being diluted and the name used to sell more pups. Keep them well looked after and worked hard boys wherever you may be, thats the only way. Cheers WAB
  22. I recently started a thread on Punch lines on here and was very glad I did, a lot of very interesting feedback from genuine boys who knew the breeding , there has also been a thred on Reece's Billy, again with good feedback, but I saw this DVD a while ago called the Wrekin Crew, a gang of boys from(I think the Barnsley area, but not sure), lamping foxes from the back of an old GPO van. The sport was shit hot, I found myself sitting at the edge of my seat as the coursing was on go. Some of these dogs were really outstanding, one pair were a black and white duo, just out of interest, would an
  23. Carried a folding shovel for years when I was in short trousers in my ferreting net bag, first time I went to use it it f*cked up, dont touch them with a bargepole, Bulldog are the dogs gonads, there was a fella on this site the other day selling some, good price as well. ATB WAB
