Shooting technique and shooting 49 metre small targets
JackReid replied to zini's topic in Airgun Hunting
Excellent shooting mate, videos are geting real good aswell. This sort of instructional vid becomes timeless for experienced and new. You're probably going to think 'God theres always something I 'missed out', but the 'artillery hold' as some call it, could do with a mention, however I'm sure you've got it planned for the real product; the DVD. Im sure you understand what I mean by the hold; The way of letting the gun recoil itself without restriction and a tight grip, with almost the gun being loosley shelved by the shooters hand. Although I have been aware of this 'obvious' technique fo -
Should we introduce an air rifle licence?

You have a pointmate but where do you draw the line on who is an idiot or not? Government dont do too well at that so thats the main hurdle.. Jack -
Welcome mate, What an arsenal of guns! Look forward to hearing from you Jack

Hahah nah I wasnt getting my maths on hahah not my best subject!!, only the basic stuff you actually need in life like the trajectory for a rabbits kill zone! haha! Good shooting
-
Looking forward to some writeups then mate as the quarry bag starts filling! Quiet as anything those are I'm told. All the best Jack

Mate that last rat is wrotten! Good job on the dog! Bisley Pest controls Ive never used much as havent had any closer range shooting oportunities recently, but for rats I imagine they are top notch, they weight about twice the ammount as most pellets dont they?? ATB Jack

Good to hear you satisfied again mate, need to go out and show yourself what you can do dont you, I spose thats a major drive in shooting. Learning how to use a variety of tools, understanding the variables then going and putting it into action! ATB Jack

Good shoot and writeup mate. What sort of time did you head out and pack it in ? Strange that the gun was 6 clicks under... ATB Jack

Lost screw for rekord trigger unit.
JackReid replied to LordGamebore's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Hello mate. I assume your talking about the one directly behind the trigger? I noticed today mine had slowly crawled undone itself when I cocked the gun and it fired when I closed it because of the serious sensitivity of the trigger.. I think for a few quid your gun smith will order the part from Weihrauch no problem. When I originally got my gun I didnt check the side stock screws and one came out after a few weeks which was weir, I went to the shop and it was there in a week from Weihrauch for a small fee, like 5 quid literally... You wont have to get a whole trigger unit mate I'm -
Hi Si, What diid you mean to that last part? Are you mentioning the pellet trajectory or something? I have used hay bails and other elevated bits of farm area to get in a bit of an elevated suprise area and like the others said, if the warren is a busy one your onto a winner and its good fun! Jack

Im a non multi shot buddy so on the whole its always first one that comes out, however once he is clear of his hole so he doesnt flip back in there.
-
Cant give you all the science buddy but I definatley think its a good idea. Also as you get into a position where you think you could be making a shot, you adjust you rparallex and even if you didnt have quarry present itself, it just gets yout thinking about ranges and disatnces a bit more, which can never be bad! Jack

will do. I havent tried them but my thoughts are sure they may be quite devastating on impact (gimmic in that sense), but at a cost of accuracy, which is the most devastating tool in itself. I may be wrong but nothing beats a well suited to your barrel rounded/domed head pellet Jack

Yeh buddy I have a hat and face veil combo thingy and only have one shitty glove at the moment but I like to have right hand gloveless for the trigger and pellet reloading. Your right though especially when the feathered quarry is jumpy its essential to have those little extra bits like a veil etc. Even rabbits when I first got it few years ago definatley noticed a drop in the ammount of ones I spooked peeking round corners etc! Ok sound, I knew the carbine bit just wasnt totally sure on the KT. Do you always get your new guns tuned once out the box?
-
Zini, what is the different between the HW97K AND 97KT then? T standing for tuned or something? And I presume the MK I or II or two etc is just different variations of the stock? See I was aware of the HW97K with thumbhole but that one you posted me the other day I presumed was different? Cheers
-
Yeh its a beauty that. As mentioned in the post with my Royal Marine friend we went out intending to get him one of them , with the thumb stock was around 430-470 on a few sites cant remember quite correctly. However we hoped they may have one at the shop that would obviously be a standard stock but he didnt mind really just wanted to get his hands back on an air-gun. They didnt have it as it had gone that morning and hunted for a AA tx 200 but again they had sold it that week also. HW95k is a top gun, those pictures have given the stock a bit of a tacky finish from the lighting that day, but

Right, to wrap things up quickly, I went back in the morning and got in the hide looking down the lines. As you can see here its quite a good spot with potential ttargets presenting themselves from 10-50m. The hide isnt all that but not one pigeon, even the fly-by ones saw me. I did have opportunities arise, but it was freezing and the bird landing were at the further point, I would guess around 50m's. With a strong blusty wind, unconsistently give blasts of wind I didnt bother as I hadnt practiced at that range, and I think witjh the early morning rough weather most people wouldnt have t

I sat i nthis spot after making it a bit better as a hide for an hour or so but the pigeons where sitting together far away staying warm, and after making the hide better decided I would limit the ammount ofpints I had that night and try make it down the next morning early and get settled in then. Also spotted another sign that the rabbits must be much more active once the sun goes down...

Moving to the other side of the woods then I chose this tree as a good place to get situated and to possibly built a hide, it looks parrallel down the lines, gives cover from above and has a limited view of the trees making up half the wooded area.
