  1. Creeping along a hedgerow like this, I was intending to catch the odd rabbit off guard out in the glorious sun. One ended up catching me off guard and took off from the hedgerow when I was about a metre away. Wouldnt have been able to get a shot even if I saw it to be honest was too far in. What I did see however was a magpie come in. Have never shot a magpie as they arent common on the farm but are increasingly active this year. So I froze, and yes...it landed, up in a tree about 40 metres away, usually just under 2 mildots holdover, but was an a big slant so I knocked that down to just u
  2. Hello all, Arriving at the farm for a late morning/early-mid afternoon shoot as I was working at 5-close, we tried to follow up with a good hunt following the day befores mooch. I immediatley went to find my rabbit I hid in a tree, and.... it had gone. Obviously I wasnt totally amazed that it had gone but in the past hidden up in a tree was ample to keep foxes and birds alike from it. However it was gone so I assume a buzzard or something took it as a free lunch. So that was the crow baiting out the window, it was also very windy, so after a target or two to get out those firs
  3. Got back down to the farm yesterday. Rabbit was gone. Im guessing a bird of prey took it. Never happened before, signs of hard times? New thread for snoop will follow... Jack
  4. Popped him in a tree so the fox doesnt get him, will put out with a crow decoy in the spot mentioned/shown in my most reason topic tomorrow. All the Best Jack
  5. Hello all, Woke up with the mother of all hangovers  this morning but was determined to get out today and since it wasnt fully raining I thought it would be rude not to.. So I phoned Hugo (HW97KT) and his brother (HW97K) and we headed out. I bought a target holder/pellet catcher thing as its easier to see the hole the pellet makes, rather than getting rips in the target which you get if you tape to an old post or whatever. I dont have an indoor area long enough to zero in so its always out on the permission. Had a detailed tweak of the zero and all three of us just got into some
  6. Easters cancelled!!! Heheheheh.. Good shooting mate, ncie to see its paying off. Jack
  7. Good testing mate. AA Diablo's are same as RWS Superfield that I use. Your right in that they feel good in the gun, just have to be careful with the delicate pellet skirt!
  8. I suppose the screws lining up is the most important thing. Some places/people make custom wooden and synthetic stocks. Something I was trying to get some info on but nobody seemed to give much apart from the synthetic stuff... Jack
  9. Hey bud, is this the one you wanted? http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=113933 Phantom Thats the one mate At least my hunting patience is better than my thread searching Jack
  10. Sorry I've searched for it but the search thing is useless. Try going back through the air rifle pages! Jack
  11. Theres a thread on here by some guys who shoot like 10-30 rats every hunt, will search out tomorrow and post link. Jack
  12. Yeh its not an air rifle and I think he has just recorded the rabbits with his scope while someone else shot it. Jack
  13. Good read mate and nice sniping spot! Its been a long old winter so no wnder the food went quick for the ferrets. Rabbits are just beginning to rear their fluffy heads again my way so hopefully get myself some soon. All the best Jack. p.s Did you have to take into account the slant in your shot? Or was it not an intense incline enough?
  14. Wow great evenings shoot. Give us a writeup when you've finished it all! Jack
  15. Cant believe you were getting those shooting results mate! Good work! I will be interested to see how it groups but its got the power at least ! Will see if anyones got anything old that they dont want round me and if so will let you know!! Jack
  16. Yeh your right however my mate wanted a solution there and then as he isnt around much because of Royal Marine training. I'm sure it will find a good owner once the shop have it repaired! He went for a Weihrauch HW97K thumbhole in the end. All the best Jack

  20. I said I wouldnt upload this but oh well! On that sunny afternoon the other day I wondered what the stench in my hide was, only to look around and find this o nmthe otherside of the hedge. Second dead sheep there in a few weeks, its not a field I have permission on, so I havent consulted the farmer, I wonder if its the dying corner for the old sheep!? ENJOY! Jack p.s Click on pictures to see a decent size, (probably not advisable for the sheep though!)
  21. A lovley day (couple of days ago).. That slope i nthe distance has seen many rabbits slain, only just beginning to see them out and about again.
  22. Loads of them... Luck just wasnt on my side and they stayed 60 metre+ out.
  23. I then decided to head to my pigeon spot, they werent in the tree's when I got there which is good, so I can wait for them as its near impossible to get to the hide without them all taking off. I experimented with the shots at the tree's. The closest tree's I paced at 35 metres, so in theory I should be 1 and threequaters a milldot under, yet the angle was steep, but also a long distance..... I think that the only way to work this all out is to experiment and get used to your setup. Bellow is a picture of the infamous pigeon tree's. I'm having to rush this as I need to head to work, b
  24. I thought I may of had something going so waited it out a bit longer and had some more interest. Then all hell broke loose. Two groups of about 20 crows started having it out over the top of my decoy, it just the all aggitated and a few social tensions may have errupted hahaha! However none landed and why should they? I hadnt brought any bait... Good thing is I'm going to use this spot probably later properley with a eaten chicken carcass or something. Its all learning! Shall I have the decoy looking as if its eating the carcass or just nearby to create a sense of securiuty??
