  1. Good pest control mate. What were you doing up the mill? You a pest controller by trade or just happen to run into alot of vermin when going about your work?? All the best Jack
  2. Good post mate. Those demonic magpies probably ate their buddy for breakfast the next morning off the side of the stream!! Jack
  3. whats right with it.. not hard to shoot somthing that is sleeping in a tree is it.. or having just fed is roosting unable to fly cos its digesting its food.. not sporting and a VERY LAZY WAY TO HUNT!!! but! less Sky pests the better.. You bring your air rifle and try get a pigeon on my permission then mate You step into a 4 acre field and pigeons you didnt even see will be taking off for the horizon and pitch up somewhere else 2 miles away because they are spoilt for choice. You could say the same about anything mate, 'Its not very sporting to shoot a rabbit, I mean its intel
  4. Hello mate, welcome to the forums. With 450 quid to spend you dont want to even think about co2 hehe (my opinion). They are by far inferior to springers and pcp's alike. Im not that resident expert on PCP's although I do know a bit.. What your paying for in a nice gun is accuracy (all down the the engineering and user), reliability (which will come as standard with most of the best manafacturers, hence being the best) and I suppose just all round quality of build and features. I would say that the majoirty of pre-charged shooters on here have a tank rather than a pump, as they are alo
  5. Yeh it didnt even really flap the wings really, like you said took the spine out and the full impact would ahve just put it out cold. Im crawlig up the walls to get back in that hedge but need to get someone to drive me to pick up my car hehe!! Jack
  6. Like I said in your other threads buddy, people on here will be able to help you out if your willing to take advice. The gun phantom etc are suggesting 'smk xs19' is only 100 quid basically and you can get a good enough scope with your other 50 quid! You want one with a bit of zoom and nice thin crosshairs but nothing too fancy! I would suggest a springer like this will be just what you need! Jack
  7. Sorry to have a go mate... but shoes havent been on the air rifle general license for a few years now! ahahah, good shooting, was the shot standing? leant against a tree? All the best Jack
  8. Cheers all, will be there as soon as possible, if I get the car back today, then it will be today hhehe. The woodies are just not used to having people round them other than the odd farmer so they are almost as wary as the corvids. The reason I'm onto all this feather is the lack of bunnies during daylight hours, used to be thousands but they mostly all met their maker or got mixi... Only the strong ones survive now and I think at this point in the seasons they favour laying low and must be active at night as I see the droppings and routes. Its quite fun though. When I've got a bit more cash
  9. I may have read your above post a bit wrong buddy but you didnt say the model of the webley? Webley make good guns. Either way like the others said, dont rush in too quick, we will have you up and running in no time, nobody here is going to scam you or give you crappy information, so stick with it and you will be shooting in no time!!! Jack
  10. Honestly buddy, dont be put off by people saying you need this and that. Get yourself 150 quid-200 quid and you will be on for getting a setup. Got any birthdays etc coming up?! As festa said theyre are a few cheapish scopes that will do you well. Im sure there is somebody on here at the mment selling an old Weihrauch springer which are top quality for 200!! Get back to us, we're only trying to help even if it doesnt sound helpful! Jack
  11. Hey buddy, do yourself a favour and dont buy a c02 gun. If you want to get further into hunting then save 150-200 and buy yourself a spring rifle, if your not sure which one to get ask around on here for what people think you should get/can afford. A co2 is alot of hassle, needs changing all the time, a bit weak and just arent great. They are effected my temperature and everthing. Wiht a springer you will have a gun that only needs pellets, you will learn to shoot better too. The reason people get a bit irrate about you saying 50 yards etc is because they dont want you walking into a f
  12. Look for what other people have tried. In particular with your gun model. Every barrel is different but you should be fine. Then go buy a tin of the pellets and see what happens! What gun do you have buddy? I think some of the top pellets for most guns are; Air Arms Diablo Field / RWS Superfield (Same thing) RWS Superdomes Accupels Bisley Magnums etc etc... Just ask about and buy some and see what happens, most the brands which people use on here will be just fine. Nothing beats a domed/rounded head, accuracy is the most important thing and purpose also. If your shooting rats
  13. Yeh as you can see I've got a silencer fitted, a really good oe at that, and in terms of springer volume my guns one of the quietest I've heard. A well made springer given a real nice service will be even quieter. I was at a gun shop yesterday getting my mates air tank filled, and I asked if they had a chrono and they did. He went and fired 5 shots off there and there just happened to be a guy there who really new his shit. He said just from the sound of it she was in good condition. Scary thing is though with RWS superdomes I averaged OVER 12/ftlb and that is after 2.5 years of good use!. So
  14. ahahah Well They're strong for their size and like a rabbit has its last click I think the grab onto the tree and just hook on. I've shot one just behind the eye, perfect temple shot and its done the same, it hung by 1 arm upside down as if still alive although the lights were totally off, so a second shot in the head pushed it off. Jack
  15. Good stuff buddy. The softness of the pellets means they will flatten out on impact a disperse that energy into the victim. I bet the squirrel fell like a stone! All the best Jack
  16. So all in all, it was quality not quantity, and I' happy to finally have cracked the woodies in that big tree and cant wait to get back there. The funniest thing about this hunt however, is I was supposed to be driving to Birmingham airport for about 6.30pm to pick the parents up, I got back to the car soaking wet after it poured down at around 4.30. Went to start the car and....nothing. Dead battery, I hadnt let the lights on, the autonater had gone, what a time to break down ey? they were already in the air so icouldnt give them the heads up. Managed to get AA pickup, dropped off to my dads
  17. I rolled the fella onto his front and although the shot had landed a bit higher than I expect (maybe 1 cm) it was a good kill, very satisfying and clean.
  18. Then things turned even better. Another group landed in the further tree's....then some corvids landed in throwing their weight about, making about 10 woodies bail out the tree (Whats so special about this tree?!), however there was still lots there. Then, if you look to my first picture, within the picture there are 5 tree's. closest about 30 metres, maybe 35... furthest 50+. A pigeon landed in tree 1 at around 30 metres... I kept my face down as I was desperate to make this kill, I've been figuring these pigeons out for a while now and this was make or break. He turned his back to me a
  19. Then lying in the hedge the pigeons began to ocme back, only a few of them however, they circled the area to check it was all safe (this still suprises me, an animal that really doesnt have many natural predators scouring the floor for danger around a huge tree they sit on the top of!?). So, they start landing in the 45+ larger tree, this is good news, just wait for the rest to come, keep my face down and let them relax..
  20. Good day all! So the last few times I have posted it has been regarding these crafty woodies and their ability to sense danger hundreds of meters before you get to them, with the only approaches to getting them being static hunting in a hide and waiting for them to land, or to catch them of guard (the less likely of the two). From lots of my previous posts you may of sen my problem in that, yes I had got a nice hide overlooing a nice position, but t really wasnt a busy enough flight line or stop off point for the pigeons, meaning I could sit there 2 hours and not have one land. All in
  21. Good shooting buddy keep it up! Jack
  22. Hey buddy, I know its not a typical name, but heres a VERY basic video that reminded me of it. Like I said, you all are very familiar with it, its a basic, but that grip on the front part of the rifle is what throws accuracy out if you dont do it properley on alot of spring guns, no matter how nice the enigeneering of your gun. I mentioned it as it would be a shame if someone put your video techniques into practice and because they were 'trying to hard' e.g holding to tight, and shots were flying all over the place. All the best Jack
