Hi All, Bit of info please My mate and myself have permission to shoot on two farms that boarder a common, Both farmers have grazing rights and they say its ok to shoot on this ground There are quite e few foxes on this common but we dont have much luck calling them in to our permission, is it wise to go out on to the common with lamp and rifle? is it legal with permission?? Keith
  4. Thanks SS, i understand what you are saying, but is there a legal requirement that the qty of exp ammo ( heads ) purchased needs to be entered on to your ticket? obviously you cannot purchase more than is stated, but if they are not recorded on your certificate, how can we prove to the firearms dept that the firearm is used and still required for a specific purpose ie hunting, i have heard from various shooters that when they have a visit regarding renewal of certificate, comments have been made by the fao regarding the lack of ammunition entries on the ticket, which then leads them to ask
  5. Heard only yesterday that bullets ( heads ) are no longer required to be entered on certificate unless requested, and that primers now legally HAVE to be put on ticket, is this fact?? any views Does this mean you can now have heads delivered direct without showing your ticket??

Out last night after a couple of charlies, covered two permissions and managed to bag 3 vixens Thinking back me and my mate have accounted for about 15 foxes this year, which is not too bad considering the number of outings we have had, out of the total i would say that 10 of them were vixens. is this an average ratio of dog to vixen? or could there be another reason What ratio you guys getting????

Tried loads of calls, mouth and squeeker type, some are good some are rubbish but in my opinion the only one that works well nearly every time (after a bit of practice) is the hand job you all know what i mean sucking air over the palm of your hand, with practice pitch & volume can be altered when required Keith ps also you can,t loose it

  15. COULD,NT BELIEVE IT Went out lamping with my mate last night, this was our first serious attempt this year, to get a fox, called to a place which we have been on through the summer but only by day, for pigeons and crows. we phoned the farmer before we left home just to let him know we would be on his ground that night, he said there was no problem and also told us he had seen a fox quite close to the buildings a few nights before Pulled up in the farmyard about 8:45 pm, unloaded our gear--- wellies, lamp, rifle etc, all with the usual clanging of bits and banging of doors all sorted, we w

Can any one help my freelander brakes dont seem to be working as they should, i have checked the back shoes and drums & they are ok, the problem is that when i brake hard, the front of the vehicle does,nt dip as you would normally expect with disc brakes i checked the pads and discs and they don,t look too bad , could it be that my servo is not working as it should, is there any way of testing it?? or is there any other any thing else that could cause this?? Cheers..
  24. Get a battery operated flapper mate, the type you use a dead bird in, its worth 20 static decoys also leave some large gaps between your decoy groups for incoming birds to land in Best of luck Thanks for the reply keith, Ive just returned to decoying after a long absence. Ive just bought a Lanber Gold sporter for decoying, a complete hide and camo set up plus the decoys so it will be a while before I have the dosh for the battery flapper. I have heard and read mixed opinions on the flapper which is another reason to hold back on that. Can I ask: Do you mix crows and pigeon
  25. HI Mate, as long as you have checked everything is tight and in line, the only other variable other than the shooter is the ammo. i have a cz .22 and have literally tried dozens of brands of ammo through it, and to be honest it can do your head in the brands i tend to stay with are ,eley , winchester, rws, and believe it or not Magtech. the first three work out at 5 to 6 quid per 100, Magtech about 3 to 4 quid and the only difference ??? less than 1/4 " at 60 yards, Well within the circle of a rabbits head..anyway good luck
