WELCOME MATE
-
as i said in my original post it was my mate that actually purchased the rifle and moderator, but i was with him when the incident happened--- it is not a case of naming and shameing, where the item was purchased is not of great importance, after all these moderators have more than one outlet!! everything was done correctly ie allignment, tightness, factory loads ect but the fact remains that the moderator did fail!!! and i think suppliers and buyers would like to know this, i also understand that the supplier in this case are actually the middle men and probably have nothing to do with ma

hi vincy, in your opinion this may be correct , but did not seem that way to me!!!

Thank you all for your replys, much appreciated.. Garyw-- i have looked on the net and found LEE anniversary loading kit from Sportsman essex, says it contains all you want for reloading( except dies which i already have) cost is £81 sale price are these good enough???

What ye saying then, John? ' Hit's them like a train. Knocks them flying. But stays with them.' ? Only, if so, I'll be racing Mr Logic there to the shop! If I can, I'd like to try to better express my interest and requirement here: I'd prefer a round which will impart maximum shock and damage to the target. But I prefer all that to happen as a 'Crump', inside. Rather than simply causing maxamised 'Opposed External Damage', if ye get my meaning. Actually - for those who understand what the f*ck I'm about to mention - it's just struck me that I'm basicaly looking for the .22 Horn

can any reloaders help------on other topics on this site i have said that i am going to reload ammo for my .22 hornet. After the reloading kit is baught, how much of a saving is there compared to factory rounds, how much to reload 1 round ie bullet + primer +powder i will reload brass from fired rounds--- is it really worth the effort?? Cheers

CHEERS MATE, i will take your advice before i sight on a deer!! i am from rhymney vally--- post code gwent.. Thanks Plenty of deer up there! Just been talking to a friend whos been culling in Margam Park, Port Talbot, shot plenty of deer but keeps finding carcases of poached deer shot with 22 rimfires and hunted with long dogs. Pain in the arse they are. They kill the deer and just chop off the bits they want, he found one with no back legs today. Such a waste. Anyway, good luck with learning the art of stalking. ss06 CHEERS NATE

we can get 35 & 40 grain ballistic tips hornaday bullet heads at our local gun shop ( litts of newport ) load them up to suite your rifle, but use hodgsons Lil-gun powder this will increase fps and reduce pressure, i have used both rounds and they are devestating Another good bullet i have used is the 30 grain Berger hollow point does about 3,300 fps out of my K hornet, very accurate and a hell of a smack.. at the moment my mate is loading up for me but i hope to start soon as i kitted out.

sorry no pics available -supplier asked for bits back about 3 weeks ago, but you are right we should have taken some as proof!!!!
-
hi mate, i think supplier was custom rifle, not sure where that is, but this moderator is advertised under full bore moderators and sold for .22 hornet only.. Sods law my mate phoned this morning to say replacement had arrived, still took three weeks!!Don,t think he will be too confident fireing first round..... Cheers

A FEW WEEKS AGO MY MATE BAUGHT A CZ HORNET RIFLE AND A WILDCAT MODERATOR MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE HORNET CALIBRE. HE BOLTED ON HIS SCOPE AND OFF WE WENT TO A LOCAL FARM TO ZERO IN, WE WERE USING 45GN FACTORY LOAD AMMUNITION WE SET A TARGET UP 50YDS SHOT ABOUT 5 ROUNDS AND WERE REASONABLY HAPPY WITH GROUPING, SET THE TARGET TO 100 YDS FIRST SHOT OK ON THE SECOND SHOT THERE WAS ONE HELL OF A BANG AND I NOTICED SOMETHING FLYING UP THE FIELD AND SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT, AFTER WE MUTTERED WHAT THE F*** WAS THAT WE NOTICED THAT THE MODERATOR HAD LITERALLY BLOWN UP!! THE INNER BAFFLE AND THE THREADED

sorry mate ,the only way to do it is as woz said---get out and do some asking, may be a bonus if you can show some type of insurance ie BASC ect, farmers normally like this where firearms are used. remember we all had to start from scratch but if you are safe, patient, serious about hunting, and willing to do the leg work you will soon get permission. BEST OF LUCK... TODAY IS ONLY YESTERDAYS TOMORROW!

Cheers mate , so carry on regardless ----good stuff thanks...

hi all, what time of year do you guys call time on shooting the dog foxes, me and my mate can only get out on weekends with the lamp and for the last three weeks or so the weather has stopped us--either p***ing down or too misty. the farmer is still phoning me asking when we are going to call up to sort out the foxes, can,t say no but are we killing next years sport???
-
thanks for your reply, i will ask farmer to sign a permission statement for me, and i will speak to him regarding ownership of shooting rights as you say better to be safe than sorry cheers

A FARM I HAVE PERMISSION TO SHOOT ON IS APPROX 550 ACRES TOTAL AND HAS 150 ACRES OF WOODLAND.. DURING NIGHTS OUT LAMPING FOXES AND RABBITS, I HAVE ENCOUNTERED QUITE A FEW ROE DEER AND WOULD PROBABLY SEE A FEW ON EVERY OUTING. I USE A K HORNET FOR FOXES AND I KNOW IT IS ILLEGAL TO USE THIS ON DEER, AND ALSO TO SHOOT THEM AT NIGHT , UP UNTILL LAST WEEK I HAD NOT MENTIONED THE DEER TO THE FARMER BUT OBVIOUSLY HE KNOWS THEY ARE THERE--ANY WAY I TOOK THE BULL BY THE HORNS AND ASKED HIM IF I COULD TAKE MY MATE ON THE GROUND AND TRY FOR SOME VENISON, HE SAID" YES NO PROBLEM I THOUGHT YOU WOULD HAV

HI Mate i have heard that 204 bullet travels at about 3800/4000 ft per sec therefore at these velocities if you are using a soft point round it could be possible for the bullet to pass through flesh and not cause too much internal damage or shock to the nervous system, Try using a v max, or hollow point round these should expell most of their energy inside your target. Good Hunting TODAY IS ONLY YESTERDAYS TOMORROW......
