  1. Get a battery operated flapper mate, the type you use a dead bird in, its worth 20 static decoys also leave some large gaps between your decoy groups for incoming birds to land in Best of luck
  2. Thanks Sykes, Think i,ll stick to standard size on all wheels.
  3. Hi mate, I can't remember the formula for working out the aspect ratio, but they are 30mm wider than your old tyres, and otherwise very similar to your old ones. there shouldn't be much to worry about with your steering, unless there is some rubbing at full lock... in which case adjust the lock stops accordingly. Thanks ROZ
  4. Anyone visited the recently re-opened " Litts of the Sportsman" at Newport, if so, What did you think?? Have they fully re-stocked....
  5. i have a freelander which at the moment is fitted with the standard 195--15 boots, been offered a set of 225-65-15 at a very good price will these be ok to put on, or will the extra width put too much strain on steering any help please Cheers

  8. quote from BASC magazine: leaving a knife in the car or in your pocket for when you next go shooting , or forgetting that it is there , is NOT a defence.. When you carry a knife i must be directly in connection with the activity it is needed for. Exemptions are for folding pocket knives , These must have cutting edges of less than 3" and blades which DO NOT lock still a bit iffy on a lighter note you Scots guys should be ok , if you go hunting in national dress you can have a SKEAN DHU,no probs PS This relates to any sharply pointed or bladed instrument in your possession, in a public
  9. cracking stuff mate cant wait for more
  10. Just been browsing through the latest BASC magazine, came across an article discribing the changes in the law as regards to carrying a knife in a public place some worrying points as far as us hunters are concerned, first of all how many of us have taken a knife ( WHICH IS NEEDED BY HUNTERS ) in our coat or trouser pocket and forgot to put it away when we pop into a shop or garage on the way home, Very unlikely to happen but if we were stopped at that time we would be guilty of breaking the law THE NEW LAW now states that your vehicle is classed as a public place so we can,t even legally

  16. if tracks are rutted then you must take ground clearance into consideration landy defender good bet hi all, being in the motor trade thought i would add my tenpennys worth,my first choice would be hi lux surf with the cylinder head sorted[got one]or pajero, both imports and not usually prone to rust[not been here long enough!] and have japanese reliability, landy and discos and range rovers have a certain charismatic something that appeals but you need to be an enthusiast to maintain an old one and you need to get them checked out well before buying, landys rot chassises and discos and ran
  17. About £2000 Richie, but that includes part exing or selling my renault Kangoo
  18. nice one mate, but i dont think i could handle the power mind you would look nice with a spoiler on back
  19. thinking of getting a 4x4 to get across my shoots easier ( getting on a bit now ) i know this may have been asked before, but just wondered what type of vehicles all you other hunters use, pehaps i can get some ideas on what to get for myself No serious off road work, just across fields and along farm tracks (quite rutted in the wet ) Cheers
  20. suzuki jimny, good all rounders.. Thanks Richy. going off the topic a bit but thinking of getting a small 4x4 like the Jimny are they ok for off road hunting & how are they on fuel and tax etc, i like the look of them
  21. How often should treat my barrel to remove copper fouling? i use a .22 hornet and when i get out on the weekends i would probably put about 20 rounds through it. So should i do it after every outing?? i also use my .22 rimmy but only with subs which are lead , should this also be treated and after how many rounds? I also use a dragon mod which is usually strippable but due to my neglect is no longer what solution is best to soak it in to remove crud,, Sorry for so many questions, but i hope to get sorted once and for all... Cheers...
