  3. For the last few weekends my mate and i have been going out full days trying to get a good bag of pigeon but for some reason they dont seem to be decoying very well at the moment, plenty of birds in the air but they are not easily tempted into shot This is a bit of a bummer considering we travel 130 mile round trip. Anyway yesterday we decided to go to our shoots late afternoon, and if nothing happening we would have an hour first dark with the lamp and try for a fox. Scanned the fields of one permission and spotted barley stubble with a good few pigeons on it, trekked down ,set up, and gue
  4. I have a 2.0 LTR DI freelander on a V plate, will this run ok on a diesel / oil mix, The oil i can have very cheap is omega & primrose oil, will this be ok to use if so what percentage do you recommend. Thanks. KP
  5. Hi Keithparry My concern is that there is quite a lot of stoney ground in my area and the danger of ricochet is ever present. The hornet does look an idel weapon though. Rich Hi Mate, i understand what you mean we must keep it safe at all times, But this problem will exist with any calibre, vballistic tip bullets can be used such as v max, these will reduce the risk of ricochet Keith
  6. FOR AN ALL ROUND RIFLE THAT WILL DESPATCH ALL GAME UP TO FOX SIZE OUT TO 200 YDS, I SUGGEST .22 HORNET,--- NO RECOIL , VERY QUIET ( WHEN MODERATED ) VERY CHEAP TO RELOAD..CHOICE OF BULLETS FROM 32 GN TO 45 GN WELL WORTH THINKING ABOUT
  7. The Hornet has cases like Eggshell, reloading is fiddly and needs .223 not .224 bullets, but apart from that it's an OK round, the .223 is much better though, still has small rifle primers but much more robust and easier to source cases (Lapua do .223) bullets etc. Also the hornet is hard to find in new rifles, I can only think of Anshutz at this time? I chose the 22.250 because I've had one before and I know how good it is, that said if a .223 Ruger No1 had come up I would have had that as an alternative because I'd be happy with either. sorry mate i think you are incorrect here all m
  8. Hi mate, i used to have a a cz in .17 hmr, but changed it last year and got a .22k hornet dont get me wrong the 17 was a cracking little round for rabbits ,crows out to 100yds +, But i found it was not so effective on a fox at these ranges ok if you got him in the head no problem, but to do this on a regular basis, if and when when it presents itself is not always easy and gives little room for error. My .22k hornet has 3 times the energy of the 17 with a 35 or 40gn ballistic tip bullet, and opens up the killing range to about 200yds with either head or heart/ chest shots and even at this ra
  9. Hi mate. Got my webley 800 series about a 2 years ago, fired litterally thousands of cartridges through it--No major problems ( had the odd cartridge that would not load, but is mostly down to o/size crimp ) i have the black synthetic stock, it looks and feels good, --three choke sizes supplied (not sure what they are )i tend to use the tightest one. think i paid about £370 at the time, imo great value for money, and good pigeon and crow gun.. cheers

  12. WHAT VOLTAGE ARE THE BATTERIES MATE !! CHEERS
  13. Sorry mate, now i know the candle power i think 7 amp/hour may be a little small for that lamp, better go for 12 amp hour---still not too bad to carry, prob last about 1.1/2 hrs continuouse use, not sure how much these are try ebay...
  14. What candle power is the lamp ? i assume it is 12 volt---12volt 7 amp hour should be ok, i think you can get one for about £20, also easy to carry with shoulder bag..

  21. A little over a year ago i added a .22 hornet to my armoury, on my initial application i explained to my fao that it would be mainly used for foxes, he had no problem with this, and added it to my ticket still under use as Vermin Control ( thus i assume fox is regarded as Vermin ) Anyway at least 90% of my permission is outside my issuing authorities area, soooooooo!! if i am ever in a position where i have to produce my ticket to authorities on one of my permissions or more likely on the way home from a permission, what would happen if that area does not concider fox as vermin Do you thin
