  10. Change of mind NOT going to it this year,A few of the lads were going but after a few pints and a decent debate its OFF this year for us, the atmosphere is more like a car boot /market selling £1 shop items and garden furniture, aswell as all the inflated prices for a burger and admission, you wouldnt pay £6 for a burger, but then they do there and they seem to get it. So I look forward to all those that are going to keep us all informed of your experiences and thoughts..... oh and all the lovely MUD ALL OVER YOUR CAR WHEN YOU GET BACK TO THE CAR PARK LOL
  11. Depends on the weather mate ,if its pishing down, dont worry anytime between 9 - 5 will do lol
  12. Because thats what I do with mink,I use mink cage traps on a regular basis, on various locations,One of these is a fishery, Shooting is not suitable in most places were I use traps. I provide pest control and due to safety reasons, shooting is not always the safest way of providing that service. After it has been caught then it is dealt with.
  13. In my personal opinion I would trap it rather than shoot it. And would have to be either if it was for pest control or if it had been doing damage to domestic fowl or other wildlife. but on a more interesting note:Mink are not native to Britain. They were introduced from America by the fur trade. Those who were turned loose by Animal Rights activists when they raided fur farmers,As a consequence to this raidmany fur farm businesses closed down,But once the Mink were given their release into the wild they soon adapted to the wild and became firmly established on UK waterways. But then again i

  15. Just my tuppence worth, The country persuits person wether you work your dogs, provide ferreting or shooting or trapping, wants the best all round Insurance, this does not mean the dearest is the best, and certainly the small print in most of these policys needs to be clearly defined,as what cover you have. BASC, SACS,NGO, C.A or whoever you choose to go with, all have a business to run, offering you a service of insurance, is just an incentive to join them. I know BASC and some of the other organisations, do a sterling job,to provide us with a voice, whenever the government decide to stop or p
  16. its not the breed its down to the dog,if its game enough it will work,I have seen many a mut doing a better job than some arm chair terriers
  17. Agree with the above Ian you are spot on. look somewhere else to spend your money
  18. Maybe the interview didnt go that well and the FEO thought the applicant was not suitable to hold an FAC.
  19. yes put my trap away for another yr, give it a good wash down and a clean, and re painted the wooden frame, tally for the yr was 31,so I am well pleased, how did anyone else do this yr
  20. Great story mate well put ,just the way I like it,keep up the good work
  21. How can you smack it on the head inside a cage trap
  22. Hi Moxy Can you explain to me how you would humanely despatch a grey squirrel in a cage trap, without drowning it or using a gun to shoot it with.I have used cage traps for several years and I wont handle squirrels or mink, but I am always willing to learn a new technique. my cage traps If you can not safely and humanely dispatch a cage trapped animal you should not be setting cages in the first place!! Why would you be putting your hand in a cage to handle to grab hold of the live squirrel? and even the mention of a vet for dispatch There are ways to corner an animal within
  23. Now were does the rabbit catcher, come into this equation, longnetting ???? ferreting or caught in a purse net,is this going to set a precedent for humane despatch laws. we all know that a caught rabbit needs despatching humanely so how do we go about it,do we all need to take the rabbits to a vet to be put asleep for god sake this country is fukked The RSPCA has done itself no favours here,in my eyes
  24. I use cage traps and they are very effective in what they are made to do.Obviously they are purposley made to capture Its only when you catch something ,you have the task of releasing it or despatching it,However trying to handle a wild Squirrel in order to despatch it is not a task I would do. 1. you can shoot it 2. you can take it to a vet and they will charge you £70 3.Drown it and now get fined £1500 or leave them for the RSPCA to deal with ,it will cost them lots of money beacause once trapped its against the law to release it
