  1. not meaning to go off your original subject... but when i visited new orleans for mardi gra, i woke up in the morning to the news saying that there was 8 murders that night in town where we were staying.... shite hole ! Was in New Orleans just before the Hurricane, six murders in one night whilst there. Stayed only 3 days... Shite hole is right. H
  2. A fox type trap will catch a boar, but whether it would hold one I'm not sure.
  3. Mars bars and apparently bounty bars too, both smashed to release lots of odours. Peanut butter, chocolate, oily fish, meat, in fact if we can eat it they can too. Just like Carp fishing though, after a while a change of bait can produce good results. Cheers H
  4. Though not legally ofcourse. The modified rat traps are capable of killing squirrels but cannot be used in the UK for that purpose as they are not on the Spring Trap Approval Order. Well said John. That is absolutely true, there is nothing worse than catching the wrong species in a trap too. Just the other day I accidentally caught yet another squirrel in a modified Pro Victor, which I had conscientiously set out for rats in a tunnel. Who would have suspected that Squirrels like tunnels and peanuts too? I had very carefully attached the trap to a tree but quite close
  5. Anyone catch the programme Pests from hell today on sky? Talked about the brown rat, house mouse and various pest bird species. Informative and educational, ranging from habitat, food, environment and even the poisons used against them. If it is repeated it is well worth watching. Regards H
  6. Very good points made here. Maybe you should have to join a gun club, also a ticket is not a bad idea but only as a licence to own, not operate, similar to a tv licence, this would ensure all responsible owners buy a licence. Mandatory training before purchase through a registered gun club. The true answer to gun crime I think is severe penalties. Possesion without a licence should be similar to driving without a licence or insurance. Permanent ban from ever owning any kind of gun for all gun crimes as well as mandatory sentencing for all gun crimes. A 14 year old shooting someone fo
  7. Read the other day that there may be as many as 600,000 breeding PAIRS in UK alone. H PS, Nice going Sly
  8. If after the first capture, the second bird comes calling, is it worth you while hiding out with the airgun/shotgun? If you only catch one surely the other of the pair at least hangs around? Of course you may not have the time to wait all day... Good Luck H
  9. Yes mate, run a search on the forum for cage traps/funnel traps. John B will have some plans, and I think I am right in saying Ditchshitter can help you too. All the best H
  10. Very true Ratsnatcher, I know the modern ones are lighter too, I think the Theoben is probably at least two pounds heavier...
  11. Ratsnatcher! You gave the game away!
  12. Terry, try Killgerm or Matt the rat on this forum. H
  13. Off Topic slightly. Went to walk a female work colleague to work at 3.30 am the other morning. Got growled at by a vixen with 4 cubs. A stupid house owner has been feeding her and then she moved in to their garden, neighbours not happy... I growled back by the way! She buggered off. H
  14. I use a webley excel with gas ram fitted, reasonably quiet, very accurate and powerful enough for the job. BSA also has a good range. H
  15. Set a trap for a turtle the other day, nothing as yet, but got a snap of one on my phone. Very aggressive creatures your turtle... The very rare Middle aged Ninja Turtle H
  16. Set three Pro victors down in a stable (in use), two in wooden tunnel bixes and one in a cut milk carton as advised by Snareman in another topic. Two wooden ones set against the stall dividing walls where there is a LOT of spoor, the carton one set inside a pallet on an obvious run, all baited with peanut butter. Results below. Haven't got around to fitting the chin bar to all my traps so far, but the result was still excellent. Scattered half a dozen loose peanuts around the stalls to keep them coming as the feed for the stables is in bins with very little spillage, howev
  17. Don't be silly Ditch, any one can see its either fresh water yetis or leprechauns... H
  18. Ouch... Thats gotta hurt. Big fan of wolves but not of coyotes, I think of them in similar terms as jackals and dingos. H
  19. Portsmouth gun centre is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays mate, and when I called today they didn't have the seals However, a quick call to logun and two seals on their way today. Hhhmmm, human hair as a nest... bloody barbers was shut all day! Tomorrow... Steve at forge offers 14 guage 1" galv mesh at £58 for an 8X4. That would make 6 traps and leave two sections of 9" X 23", another two and you have a collapsible... Also - MOST important, I get to use his bender for free, this thing is huge and would bend a tank barrel! He is also making me my adjustable tealer maker (not s
  20. My local shop in town is a rip off. Last tin of 500 accupels today cost me 9.99. Also bought 1000 BSA Storms, pointed dome but not really pointed if you know what I mean? Rounded point... Any way, ever used them anyone? Any good? 5.5mm 1.0 gram / 15.43 grain. Squirrel bashers I reckon. Haven't fired one yet though as I'm awaiting my new breech seals from logun. £2 each and £2 for post. Info on storms please? H
  21. More than welcome mate, roost shoot in the evening? Could do with some more wood for a larson that black box of yours will still be there. Not at work friday Yippee!! Off to the old forge now to see steve, and then in town for scalping, no more girly locks for me, its too bloody hot. H
  22. Looking pretty good fishfish. I have only made the double tealers myself using a home made jig. I should think you did have problems bending the 2.5 mil galv too! I made about a hundred of them (snares and tealers) and have only got two out! Two rabbits so far, both to one snare, but then there are hardly any rabbits about here, there are more birds of prey, magpies, jays and squirrels than rabbits! Keep it up and hope you fill your wires. H
