  1. Are you taking care of charlie as well Micky or just the rabbits? It seems a shame to lose so many for the pot/ferrets. H
  2. I've never used those kinds of traps, I only use pro victors, is there any way to make them more sensitive? They are obviously doing the business though, had any bait taken and no catches? H
  3. Well I decided later to take a walk down to where the feeder stream joins the river. There were so many tracks there I didn't know where to look. Fox, deer, cat, mink, heron, squirrel, rat you name it was there. Some incredible places to trap mink on cross over logs, flood lines full of debris, culverts, undercuts, etc. I have 24 110's and I could easily lay them all in a space of 50 yards... In the last picture of the previous set I have decided to put down a Fenn on the concrete lintel under the large drain to the left, and as Rolfe and Steve
  4. I agree OTC, my only problem with that is the Mark iv Fenn is all I have, and I can't get a 110 or 116 in there, I could use a mark iv on a cable but... I agree it looks a cracking place too H
  5. oh dear... nothing changes... Cheers Bobba_fett H
  6. Went out this morning for a mooch with the camera, mainly looking for places to fence snare some rabbits that are plaguing a sports field. Local authorities spent an absolute fortune putting up a rabbit proof fence on all four sides of the field, only to have some rotten sod comes along and cut holes in it just so he can snare the line... I don’t know, some people... Not that much sign of Mr Bunny (do people exaggerate about being ‘over run’ with rabbits do you think?) Went along the edge of some fields where I have permission and found some rabbit highways. A
  7. I believe snareman has been to several colleges - as tutor to gamekeepers etc! I went to the Borders College at St Boswells many moons ago as well as the one in Galashiels... and the textile college which then became part of Heriot Watt... That's way back when a poisons licence for Cymag and Strychnine only took a day... I hope you get on well 00taz11, and when the tutors tell you stuff about snaring that goes against snaremans teachings, just bite your tongue and smile... All the best H
  8. I was amazed to wake up to snow at 2.30am this morning too. The as the day progressed we went from mild blizzards to bright sunshine! We are backward down here of course...
  9. A cracking catch. Don't believe the superstition - just don't go booking any long term holidays H
  10. Has anyone tried to import and get the 55 approved? H
  11. If you talk to Rolfe on here, or one of the other guys that use a lot of cages, they will be able to advise you better, but I believe when trapping rabbits that sticks of carrot are a good bait. A small trail leading to the trap, the trap is set at right angles to the run. BUT as I say, other guys who do this for a living will know the real score. H
  12. liverabbittrap_bro.pdf Well known trap before they started making cage traps. H
  13. Lets hope the more exposure Glenn gets, the sooner the government bodies will sit up and take note of the correct way to set snares. Come on snareman, we need that book of yours! And by the way, why are these magazines not going to the source of all this knowledge? H
  14. iT'S BOLLOX. When they say people need a licence, they are referring to a general licence. If you are the land owner or have permission from the land owner, and you have reasons to take magpies then you can. Protection of livestock or game (chicks etc.), wild bird protection ( a bit dodgy that one), damage to property etc, all these are covered in the general licences. The RSPCA and RSPB love to use shock tactics and half truths to fool a gullible public. Getting a dimwitted actor/actress/singer/personality is one of their favourite ploys. If they didn't talk such shite and brand o

  16. Thanks for the replies so far guys, I would like to point out that this would be a FREE database, just something I have wanted to work on for a while but not got around to, plus - I would spend weeks writing it and then forget to put something obvious in! OR something that someone else would find necessary. The obvious place to look for fields is in a vermin diary or similar. - I don't have one Also remember that not all the fields will be compulsory, anything you don't use you can leave blank. All the best H
  17. I'm not sure if it's too early to trap them, down here they are already paired up. I was catching in the larson up until october last year (I started late). Is it worth dropping an egg or two in there as well as the rabbit? H
  18. http://www.trapworks.co.uk/rabbit_snaring.htm bottom of the page shows how it's done H
  19. The idea is mate that you put all your info into a database for everyone to see....what your doing, where your doing it...how your geting on...who your clients are and all.....then everyone can come and join in and put you out of business!! No wonder all the others are rubbish its the most ridiculous idea ive ever heard. Foxy It will be a private database available to everyone to download for themselves. Some people find it useful to keep records of previous jobs, customer location, telephone numbers, eqipment used, etc. The only people to see your info are the ones yo
  20. I have a couple of databases here, one for vermin control, one for pest control and they are both rubbish. So...I am going to write my own. Does anyone have any suggestions for fields they would like to see in a database? Apart from the obvious name, address, tel...etc. Once completed this database will be free to anyone who wants it, so the more feedback I get the better it will turn out. It can be used to monitor vermin and pest catches, areas, clients, products used, type of treatment, etc. Looking forward to some feedback. All the best H
  21. Did you tell him the rodenator is illegal on tunnels with moles still in them Matt?
