  3. You could buy JohnB's book on trap making, it shows how to build your own rabbit drop traps Contact him on here or at www.fourteenacre.co.uk H
  4. I simply like my traps to be sensitive, we can set a fenn on a hair, even some rat traps, but with the body grip there can be quite a lot of play in the trigger before firing, i would like to reduce the amount of travel needed. H
  5. I looked into ways of making these more sensitive Ian, to set the trap more sensitively you do have to take the safety off first. But one thing that does concern me is the amount of play in the trigger. I have found a way of curing this but it is very drastic and not to be undertaken lightly. I am keeping this to myself for now but may make a post on how to soon All the best H
  6. Nothing wrong with that at all Ian, but I remove the safety from the arm as I have had it catch a couple of times when the trap has fired. My own fault of course, but now this doesn't happen. Each to their own H
  7. Yep, never had an accident since I started using them, (fingers crossed, touch wood and all that) It makes life a lot easier to keep your hands above the trap when slipping them off H
  8. If you need any mate contact Alan Salmon (Master Hunter). They are good. H
  9. I think the amount of vauxhall leaf green sold in this country must keep that paint company in business! It was a pretty fast catch, especially as I had not seen the little sod before hand - so much for Tom Cruise huh? Cheers all H
  10. Yep, JohnB is your man, his website is fourteenacre. H
  11. I'm ashamed to say I bought mine form eekbay mate. I didn't know it was snaremans originally as it wasn't advertised that way, it was only when I watched it did I realise who had made it. I think it is a rip off copy as it was only 99p plus p&p. I think when snaring mink a lot of guys use fine stainless steel aircraft cable, I know you can get the eyes for the snares from the states, but as I say if you PM Woodga or Snareman they might be able to help out and point you to where you can buy the gear they use. H
  12. Yep, spray paint or dip, apparently there is very little difference in performance. I speed dipped mine for the first time ever this year, but I do have several cans for spray paints for next time H
  13. Here you go mate. This is a cubby made by Master Hunter, holds the body grip rigid in place and provides the legally required cover. The 110 Heres one from last year on my own ground H
  14. Snaring mink takes a lot of practice ferret boy. If I was you I would PM snareman or woodga, I think both have done a lot of mink control. I have a dvd that snareman made a while back showing how he snares mink, but I can't post his info without his permission. Another way would be to get some body grips or fenns in cubbies on fallen trees etc as they cross the stream or river, and also those trees that have fallen and lay along the bank beside the river. All the best H
  15. I had a call from a lady who had been using one of the squirrel cages that you put a bird feeder into. She had taken one squirrel out of a pair that were raiding her bird tabels/feeders, but could not entice the other one in. The one she couldn't catch had started using all sorts of fancy tricks to get at the feeders including running the washing line, climbing walls, and at the end of its journey, using an ornamental beam which runs under the gable end of a barn type out building. I went along this morning and listened with some amusement as the lady told me of the squirrels antics an
  16. Snares are a good option if you can be sure you will not catch anything else. A cage trap is a good option too but can be a very expensive purchase. H
  17. Well doine Comanche, some very valid points there. I remeber the debate last year too, and it seems that most of the non believers fears have been realised. At the time they did not seem humane and from your write up and the word of others who have also stopped using them, this seems to be the case. H
  18. Mole traps from the flat pack co are really good quality. Congrats on your catches nightimenellie, well done. H
  19. They are not planning on putting up rabbit proof netting are they Rolfe? Mind you, a snip here or there and the bunny bag will soon be full again... Now might be the time to install one or two drop boxes? H
  20. Them's motorways you have there macsas! Very good going, keep it up. H
  21. Great post Macsas, nice to see someone having much better luck han me with the mink! Steak rind and chicken boones eh? Good job your not a veggie then All the best H
  22. I set 3 body grips and a Fenn 2 days ago, the Fenn under the drain on the stream and the body grips on the banks of the main river. Since I set them there has been no sign of activity. Maybe they were passing through, maybe it way several sets of prints over a few days. I am using last years fish from the freezer as bait and will leave the traps in place for another week or so before deciding what to do next. T
  23. Well you can't say fairer than that mate. All the best H
  24. I didn't know that Matt. What is the offense, tampering with an approved substance? H
