  1. The truth of the matter is that despite us having alot of funds between us and huge numbers, we sat back with our heads in the sand to await leadership...the antis on the other hand are not that daft...they could see that the way to pass legislayion was to "pay" MP's as advisors in order to get them onside.....its not the MP's fault, its our own i guess for we have just watched it happen...the CA should have also paid for advisors, pledging to DOUBLE whatever the animal welfare groups have offered....but, alas, ita all water under the bridge now antway....what a depressing topic... 2. well, despite spending every spare moment out in the countryside, i have never , ever seen an otter....i fished the river all summer long since i was 12 years old....found ther odd artificial holts the wildlife trusts have put in.....plastic pipe
  3. "Stop eyeballin' me boy"......the last squirrel of the day was not happy... saw a few more that i feel i must got and get....i was outwitted by a pair of carrions too... saw a chaffinch building her nest and also saw a blackbird sitting and two new wren nests...first bluebell today too.... i love this time of year..
  4. this critter was peeking at me from only ten foot...i aimed a little low and he recieved a pellet into the brain....
  5. For a while i was confused, i missed a shot at a squig peeking round the branches at me....one minute it was at the top of the tree, the next it was laid on a horizontal branch...after a while it dawned that there was a brace in this large oak....not any more though...
  6. This corvid must have thought it was good trying to mob my dog....a long range chest shot soon had it cartwheeling down to earth....another chick predator taken care of...
  7. "Its not going to bite me is it dad?" lily cautiously looking over the squirrel...this one was a real dummy and i plugged it from very close range in an alder tree...
  8. i have shot the local wood almost non stop this year and i thought i had gotten the squirrel population under control...well..i hadnt..last week i only saw three in this area and i killed all of them....today, however, they were out in force... scoob ran off down the path and came to a steady point into a thin oak tree.....the rest, as they say, is history... for the squirrel!.. i ended up with 7 squirrels, a crow and a woodie...here are a few pics... "Look what i got dad"
  9. seen 2 woodies sat on nests today...and saw 5 ducklings yesterday..
  10. make sure to pack your chastity belt..
  11. i manage about 100 per year...give or take a few....all with the airgun..
  12. then....unbeleivably, as we were walking home scooby flushed a drake that was obviously winged.....i presume that this duck must have been pricked during the season and had somehow survived....i think this pic is the best retreiving pic i have ever taken... ..goodhunting guys..
  13. i shot a woodie at good range, but it flew off. From the noise i could tell i had hit it hard, and was a little sorry that it had escaped wounded because it is rare that i ever injure my quarry ...we walked out onto the fields and i spotted a grey shape right out in the field.....scoob was sent out and it was the wooie....it must have flew about 200 yards before dropping stone dead....
  14. a brace of corvids......after the amount of these i have bagged this year, the songbirds should be able to raise a few more young....
  15. this woodie dropped at long range and i had to ask scoob to find it....luckily, he did....
  16. out with the FN Hawk...managed to bag 3 woodies, a jay and a brace of maggies...i shot like a fool and missed too many times today...here are a few pics..
  17. yes, it was, of course, roadkill....but..what i am trying to say is that the mandarin, as far as i know...is not listed as a british bird......but i could very well be wrong..
  18. i read last year in the Shooting times that the mandarin was not protected....therefore it should be possible to shoot one on an open licence.....i think/....can anyone elabourate?...cheers... they sure are a beautiful bird and fully wild in large numbers now..
