  1. I have emailed lurcherlass the pic i have of your dog mate....hope we can track it down....try ringing the local vets, it may be sat in there kennels after being clipped by a car or something....
  2. hhhmmmm...have i seen that dog before...
  3. i would say a red stag, cos a lurcher will find it very difficult to get a firm grip....but for speed and turning ability, a hare or a daytime CWD takes some catching...those fallow bucks are tough , muscly critters too..i would take with a pinch of salt all those romantic tales you hear about little 23" whip/greys pulling a multiple bag of fallow bucks...they do not give up the fight easily, and my 70lb dog has(had!) trouble holding them....alot of trouble.........obviously, this is all from a historical viewpoint good hunting guys...JD
  4. Great post guys...now i have never owned a world beater, but i have seen some very good dogs out in the field...peggy was a deer/grey X whip/grey...very good, LEARNERS rosie was afine animal and a very obediant all rounder, a dog called GOS was also an eye opener, even at the age of 8!!!..but what is a good dog?..a dog that surprises you and a dog that can be taken anywhere and it will not show you up, a good dog will catch on any terrain... IMHO.....JD
  5. Nobody got into trouble through that site....the first rule about HCH was never talk about HCH but, thats all gone now...all deleted....and all in the past...BUT i am glad i was there...only 90 members and pure, unadulterated dog work and dog talk ..those were the days my firends, i thought they'd never end..lla la la la ...should be the words for a song..

  7. scoob went on point....i thought a squirrel was abroad, but it was a pair of woodies....a close shot dropped this one in the brambles. A great afternoon and it was good to get out a bit
  8. then spotted this little critter....which i missed!!! :11: but luckily i bagged another one about 300 yards away, through the neck
  9. Scoob did a good retreive from cover and we carried on in our quest for vermin
  10. So, after waiting for a while, a window appeared and i made my mark , sending a pellet straight through the jays chest, killing it immediatly. As predicted, it was a this years bird, and i bagged it less than 300 yards from where it was hatched....
  11. After a hard days work what better way to unwind than a walk out with the gun...its been a couple of weeks since i have ventured forth with my weapon so i was prettyy keep...the trouble was that the branches were blowing like hell!!! now, i hate trying to shoot corvids during summertime when theres alot of wind....its not easy....the tall, towering trees were laden with chlorophyl laden leaves, the tree canopy was dense, btu there was a family of jays up there, making the occasional "chuck" as they fed. Jays dont only scream you know....they communicate by throaty gurgles that are pretty quie
