  4. colliexgrey, great rabbit dog day+night.
  5. your male would put 25%saluki25%grey in to the pot your bitches sire put in(3/8)37.5%saluki(1/8)12.5%grey your bitches dam was a bitza so perhaps unknown%? So at best your pups will be just ever so slightly(52%) saluki, 48% bitza with at least 18% grey+what ever %grey was in the bitza, this would increase the saluki % if there was any in the bitza, but on paper not overly saturated with saluki IMHO Y.I.S Leeview tried to send you a pm mate( bit of info) no luck.???
  6. It would be a good x, but i dont think a 1/8 is enough to make any differnce to this x. If you really want the saluki in there, i think you need at least a(1/4). I used to have 1/4 bull 3/4 grey, and they make a good x,fast+ enough guts for most quarry.
  7. go for a line bred colliex, any thing lurcher to lurcher . As long as the parents are good workers, your in with a chance,.Most colliexs will be good rabbit dogs day+night.they are more of alrounder lurcher than a secialist,on quarry
  8. Spot on, dogs+kids dont mix. Any dog could kill a small child, but a powerful dog ,they should locked up in a kennel+run. What a waste of human life .
  9. well done mate , nice and easy with it,it sounds a good x for all quarry
  10. She is great some feckin power there for the red coats :thumbs:she makes Bryn look ill
  11. yep, he looks a big bugger now steve ,just the job with the terriers Good news about Kevin great news, hope you family are ok i will be going to weston this year, we will have to have +chat. Done well with Bryn last season 300 rabbits in the lamp, he is 25 in 60lb fast+good stamina for a 1x colliexgrey. Lesley+neal said Hi , dont work to hard Ray

  13. not all 1st colliexgreys are slow, Bryn is fast+strong for a 1x,alot of lads who have seen him run would would say the same.maybe ive been lucky But yes a lurcher to lurcher, i think make a better lurcher,on( average )for all quarry. does your dog choose runs or not mate? not yet mate, he as had alot of (20- 30 runs) best catch was 27 one night. And alot were long slips. The last out got 11 from 18 runs, that was hard night it was quite warm.He was fecked that night, he only stops if he runs out of steam. But thats the same for all lurchers.I HAVE HAD TO CARRY HI

  15. My mate runs a colliexgreyx salukixgrey, and it is 9 years old, and it still can knock over 20-25 rabbits in a night. It as great stamina, good retriever and quick recovery rate. And it as stayed sound for years. Dont think you get will many lurchers that ( can+want to) do that amount of work at that age. So in my book this is what i would call a(very good x) as a lamping dog. think youve answerd the question with your mates dog bird but as for what x i think it is more down to the individual dog and the owner(conditioning, training etc) that dog sounds a topper by the way to still be d
  16. agreed yes nice lad loves his dogs pity if he is gone

  19. What x makes the best lamping dog, for all quarry pre-ban.? Ive run bullxs, colliexs, bitzas, all did well on the quarry they were ran at. As most know i run a 1x colliexgrey Bryn now, and he as had great season caught loads of rabbits and will bust a gut to catch what in front of him. . My bullx was the same as Bryn give 100%.My bitza bitch(lurcher to lurcher)was a great catch dog as well .Having read few posts on here about differnt xs, and my own experience i think maybe a lurcher to lurcher might make the better lamp dog. . What do you lot think.??
  20. Same here , i would'nt mind having look wonder if you can get them a bit cheaper
  21. nice dog, and doing well with the training Ray
  22. Nice mix that Should make good dogs speed, brain, guts,
  23. yeah mine will hit cover if the rabbits there i mean the likes of bull crosses where if they chase a rabbit through the same fence 9 times they will try just as hard the tenth time when theres obviously no hope. i am a great believer that collie crosses can estimate thier own capabilities and judge weather a run is feasible or not, where other more simple minded crosses only think 'kill'. fair point, if you really want a out and out lamping dog, then a lurcher to lurcher bred dog, Colliexs are good lamp dogs,Bryn my 1x colliexgrey as done brill on rabbits last season. But alot c
