  2. It was nice mooch with the pack ,the big bullx never stopped running for 15 mins he got some energy,no wonder pete had big boots on to hold him on the lead .Yes nice to see the dogs having fun, feck knows what would have happened, if they seen a rabbit or a big rabbit .Bryn makes laugh,if he's with other dogs, he just fecks off and does his own thing
  3. I dont know ifs its the same with other working dogs(gun dogs....etc) but just look at the amount of young dogs for sale on the sites lurchers, that most are under 12months old. .Feck me young dogs still pups, in this game its said but true, that people just look at the dogs as a tool. And most people (expectations)of there dogs are unreal there are dogs not a feckin machine .So if they dont make a grade (there) grade or it get hurt they dump them .They should have the balls to rehome it or put it down.? Some times its hard to stay in this game.
  4. bullx would be spot on to work with your borderxpat, get a line bred bullx
  5. a good x that mate, brain, speed, stamina, agilty good on rabbits or anything else
  6. As been said, they aint a new x. I seen some in 79, 1/2+ 1/4 xs both were good dogs catching small+big stuff
  7. ye you cant beat a good half cross i like your dog bird did you breed him yourself? is he quick off the mark for daytime rabbits mate? Hi mate, he was bred local by a lad by me. Yes he is very quick of the mark, there is a few on here that have seen him run, and he fast for a 1x colliexgrey. He as good wind and great agilty, he really dont miss much. id believe it, he really looks well. a good collie is hard to beat,he looks durable too, youl get a good few seasons out of him id say(injury wise).with half working collie he must have great recovery.does he ever stalk on the lamp

  11. Spot on, i had one the same way bred, and just as you very sharp with people+dogs. To sharp, not keen on my wife+son Brill with me, but nobody else.? Prob the border colliex grey, might be that bit easier to handle , if you can gey a good one.
  12. nice pics, just what they need then.Looks like it will rain rest of the week.
  13. YEP, ferreting is the last thing i would do, and yes above would be better still,or (air rifle). Some land owners are funny people and like to see you with the rabbits on the same day ,thats why thought ferreting, but the (gun) would be better
  14. thats what i was thinking, you will feck your dogs feet up . You got the nod from them, which is great.Just say you will go the weekend ferreting, keep her happy and save the dog for when ground is softer
  15. Had another good mooch about, with another keen hunter from off here, there is some top people on this site. It was warm for the dogs, and all 3 have thick coats. We found a couple of streams for them to cool down. Its always nice to see other differnt xs, from you own Bryn was brill in the cover as norm, he is more like terrier than lurcher He knocked few out for the other dogs He as brill nose, Many times when lamping, he will pull'em out of the edge, if he aint nailed them before,a real good day+night dog.
  16. painful that, tell him take it easy Ray
  17. its how serious you take the game, and the time you have to work your dog or dogs.?If you are serious in your dog work, you will make the time, and you will try to only keep the best dogs that you need.? But if we are honest, we all want a dog who is at the top of his or her game, that can if need be get big bags and will tackle any quarry. And if you have had dogs like that, you do compare to what you have got.And as been said its just as cheap and time spending, with good'un and not so good'un.?? I know what i prefer,? So it think it come's back to how serious you take this game.?
  18. yep 5 years, and if it still sound +fit and the still plenty of drive ,thats what i would breed from.?
