  1. The ipswich advertiser headline: Wrap up warm could be minus 6 tonight!! On the back page said that Ipswich FC can't play any matches cos a dyslexic serial killer has murdered all the prostitutes! And the rugby team is stuffed too as they run out of hookers!!
  2. foggy for last couple of days and nights still foggy now!! but then can't go lamping anyway cos dogs laid up!!
  3. Agreed......infact i helped a keeper out and his approach to poachers was to pull the valves out of the wheel, eventually caused more grief than it was worth they don't bother anymore but it never f*cked anyone off, well more than neccasary
  4. didn't read all the posts but my 2pence worth is that if your fields are really quite small and you are just doing rabbits then i reckon a light fast dog say a small 3/4x or a whippetxgreyxcollie would be better as they never actually go far from cover so you sometimes have to slip from the side..........i had to do this with my dog a gspx and he struggled so am now trying to re build his confidence as he started getting frustrated(thankfully he's coming back and boxing them away from cover again....phew) but he's too big for just rabbits my way!!
  5. just to back up the humane issues......i know a keeper who has no fox dogs but lamps alot of foxes he shot one with a .222 and drove over to it.....lol.....lazy buggars when he got there it was lying dead, collapsed!! He always collects his foxes the morning after, don't know why so he walked over to it....as he went to pick it up it snarled and snapped at him and ran off it had layed there for 8 hours.....while he was rushing off to get a gun to shoot it again, he was thinking and i quote 'i wish that Ahab with that p***y dog was here' I'm Ahab and that p***y dog is my pointerx.....an
  6. Pm a member called gelert he has one with the diff going still drives and everything and in real good condition.....always worth an ask could end up with one very clean motor and one for thrashing!!!
  7. Shit looks like i'm out till january and thats if i'm lucky Buzz cut real deep inbetween the pads on his front foot minimum 2 weeks off and thats if it goes well..............the worst bit being he never showed he was injured at all no yelp or slowing up carried on catching, no limping...........so it got filled with shit and some flesh had to be cut away I'm on £250 already and the vet has to change the bandage every 3days for at least 2 weeks then it might need restitching but apart from it being piss annoying, he's insured so at least i don't pay the bill so its 5* treatment fo

    ian woods

before people join the bandwagon and i don't want to upset anyone......but there is always to sides to every story and i have never had a problem with this man............done plenty of business as the experts say don't always believe whats written in the media! i have heard about this feud and its more complicated than has been made out!!! thats all i'm saying
  10. JDf if you were putting a coursing whippet over a wheaton x i know a man who would be very interested.....infact i'd love one but don't have space or time!! were you thinking of doing it soon??? Down here in the south a smaller dog would fair better as big dogs don't get time to run them cos of the small fields.
  11. my dog never went lame but go to your petshop and get powdered seaweed or 'plaque-off' and as it says on the tin..........helped my dog out no end apparently it means they have a calcium deficiancy........is yours a big dog??
  12. yeah but he's in ireland!! He should keep going!! a dog is better than sticking my hand down to remove a fired up terrier from a hole.... as it happens i don't dig anymore as i now shoot!! but its his sport and he's doing it legally!! and its about giving dogs the confidence to do there job well....so yes if it legal enter them on young foxes to get there confidence up!!
  13. never done much with GSD's......are they as intelligent as say....border collies, as they are shepard dogs aren't they?? would of thought they'd make great dogs! have been interested in them as well....i liked the sound of someones belgium malinois x but think a first x would be slow....what do they compare to??
  14. swansea jack stop trying to stir shit........i have only been on one dig(it was before it got banned) and we dug down to the fox and the terrier was baying it........there was no way i was sticking a gun in the hole with the terrier.............so what do you do in that case with oput a drawing dog....................in my case a drawing terrier was put in and with some help we got the fox out, scrufed released and shot immediately...........how would you suggest??? to say lurcher2006 i have no clue really but i reckon let it do a few above ground with another dog then on its own so tha
  15. yep and i believe marco would agree that the mother was the pointer so if bred the other way he might be racier.........but he does get a s**tload of work!! and he's got more muscles/definition now than when those pics were taken he still has his moments paid.....when there is another dog about he gets jealous and starts to try and catch everything with or without me and the lamp....even if the other dogs are on slip............but then i don't really go out with any other dogs often!! when i get some running permission and where i'm allowed to go out with more than myself, we'll ge
  16. unless i'm going stir crazy round here they were calling 4-5 weeks ago and haven't heard them for quite a while! but saying this i shot 3 vixens in april with a mate this year one was fat so we opened her up she had three cubs inside, one was in season and the other had saggy tits!! and all shot on the same night in the same field!!!
  17. OOOOO a thread i might be able to help someone on.............I like them they are nice companion dogs but they can be headstrong, if brought up like you would a field trial gundog then i think exceptionally high standards of obedience could be acheived but i think it would take alot of time, although you have to stay on top of them if you just want normal obedience as they are constantly trying to push you although he has been steady since day one and so for mooching and earthwork/ferreting this cross would be great but i am yet to test him he returns to the whistle pretty well but
  18. not that i own a fox dog or even have the ground to run bu ti have access to lots of foxes.....sickening all fields are too small really but i think i'd want a dog that can hold on anywhere, get bitten hard but still hold on as that way it'll take more cos a head/neck grip ain't always possible so it would be a bull or wheaten for me........i like beddys to but for out and out fox dog = bullx
  19. The Hare coursers copped it the worst, to the detriment of the hare. The fox hunting is a beautiful traditional sight of the country to see and although i do not participate, it was amazing to hear the hounds giving tongue!! Only daytime running has suffered hard so of course its those two areas of the sport that got it hardest!! Its just the hunting with hounds that got publicity out of it and so faired better!! So the law just spices things up a bit!!! Anyone hear about the retired copper turning himself in to the police cos his Jack Russel caught a mole and a mouse?!?!?!?!
  20. that second one he crumples hahahaha ba**d
  21. i love to see my dog working...................i love to be out on my own.........i love to go with mates as a social thing..........i shoot foxes as pest control but run rabbits for sport(sometimes shoot when i get paid to)..........kill squirrels for fun cos i hate the little b*****ds!!! lol I like seeing nature and the conservation side too I collect what i can and eat the game i want, to save money but as i'm the only one in my area/social group that hunts i can sell game to buy the other things like liquid bread its cheaper than going to the pub All in all its just the
  22. Cheers nijinski, yeah he's doing me proud i really like pointer x's but for where i live i'd get something with whippet in it for my next dog and mainly sight hound..........a half cross lacks an extra gear as i was warned about but i do shooting and beating as well he he could be good at this as well.............saying on the speed front he's def got the power for a quick take off and the weight to bring down any size quarry!! no recent photos and he's muscled up a bit in the last 3 weeks he's about 26"tts and about 80lb i'd say. i'd probably have a nother but a 3/4GWP or something i would ha
  23. Right the story goes:- I have a GSPointer x Greyhound, And i help on an estate i do alot of the lamping of foxes on this estate with rifles while my dog walks with me and when there is no fox about runs the rabbits. I shoot quite alot of foxes and inevitably some don't die an instant death for whatever reason(even if it was a good shot in the killzone)(i also like to keep a record of which sex they are) So i want my dog to be able to catch and kill a wounded fox to prevent prolonged suffering to the fox. He has helped twice and caught one that got up and started to stagger off and on
  24. Nightwalker knows what he's talking about..............i don't have the experience he has but have spent 2 years studying deer of all species, don't claim to know alot but nightwalkers spot on
  25. MickC's way is known as severing the atlas joint. This is very hard especially on live quarry(you also cut this joint to make trophys) and it is very hard. Fair play to Mick for being able to do it...........it probably is the most humane but only if it can be done quickly! I can't do it on live but i keep practicing on the deceased Furryferter's way is a close second but obviously not quite as quick as the animal has to bleed to death but done properly this doesn't take long. This is the easiest way for beginers and very humane!!
