  1. you have to have a reason to do it in your garden or on any land.........there was a case a few years ago of a guy shooting starlings off his bird table while feeding the birds...........so if you have chickens or a pet rabbit etc you'll have an excuse or lots of shit digging etc!!! just be ready with a good reason other than i don't like them....lol
  2. Hi there chrissy, Sounds a good dog! do you have any pics? how much and where are you? cheers rich
  3. i've had quite a few hearing dog puppies through my house and my 2 dogs didn't like the chnge all the time.....just as they got to know and set the rules with one it would leave and another little terror would arrive. to ease the process we allowed are dogs to get on the sofa but never any of the puppies. this meant the older dogs could get away from the puppy and also elevated their social position so the puppy was no threat. The dogs always got off when told and there were no lines blurring of the older dogs competeing for dominance with the human family even when i was 12 they knew
  4. Got a mate whos just lost a dog that he had been bringing on and was just getting good. RIP Max!! So he's looking for a dog thats doing the business....not bothered about percentages but willing to pay for the right dog Wants it just to be slipped for charlie and deer and for when he's digging to be on the earth. so not over trained but a doing thats just been entered and ready to go. Any help appreciated Anyone know of anyone selling one
  5. glad to hear someone else shoots rabbits in the lamp i have been and didn't know if it was wrong to do as he doesn't hit them hard so they shhot off and he loses them(my mate only pricked a few)lol Admitedly the people i know who have saluki x's don't really put the effort in they like them to retrieve but there mainly deer and hare and fox men so not so bothered about retreiving........i think any dog can be trained to do anything if you put the time in???
  6. i'm sort of a member at the moment.... the company i work for is and its a 3 man team so i'm up on the gossip. we do everything and i want to learn every part of pest control...so the company i'm with suits me very well...i'd just like to get into a bit more trapping and stuff mainly rabbit control.....its what i love!! bigdazz where abouts are you from??
  7. saluki aren't stupid but they are very single minded in my opinion, and aren't people pleasers like collies etc I think there would be dogs better suited to your needs.......salukis, greyhounds and whippets aren't reknowned for there retrieving instincts, i'm not saying they won't but as far as shot game is concerned it'll be an uphill struggle.....i'm sure people will tell me i'm wrong but its not what they were bred for its a bonus if the dog of that breeding likes to retreive. for wht your talking about i would of thought more of a lurcher is what you want and less of a sighthoundx/
  8. ruraltrapper do you mind if i ask what pestcontrol company you are as i work for one back in surrey and go to sparsholt college in winchster. Are you part of this UKPCO??? And is it possible to make a living at just catching rabbits??
  9. depends on how old she is and how dear she is to you??? but if she was young say 5 and under i'd let them run now and then....the nice easy runs nothng to much but not just silly ones let her work its better to live on your feet than die on your knees If shes very dear to you then maybe just enjoy her company around you!!
  10. as buster says you have to be the best most attractive thing in the world to the dog!!! make him want to come back If you went to work every day and never got paid would you keep going back??? why should he come back...its more fun to run off and play!!! if when your in the later stages like buster described and he won't come back try running away waving your arms in the air and calling in a silly high pitched voice any running dog will love this as it hits their chase buttons
  11. running away and skinnyrats advice work tried them both and they do work!! hope you get there!!
  12. just over 9 months we've played in the lamp a little just to get him looking down the lamp cos where i stay at college theres lots of rabbits but not runable as too close to busy roads etc so you gotta make use of them.....there good am lampshy now lol lol i just walk round the field holding the lamp on the rabbit hes picking it up though.

  20. Good advice Dickyboy cheers... i got one right aye??/ lol
  21. did this to me a while ago.............erase your internet history ......worked for me
  22. no, not that i've ever found.........(you probably already know this but i'll say it anyway lol and don't mean to sound preachy)but when she reacts nervously just ignore her, if you say things in a reassurring voice such as its ok etc you end up actually teaching them its ok to act like that.........just ignore it and keep her in the company of dogs that don't react to noise and try to build up to louder noises.....such as clicking fingers to start with then clapping but don't clap at her, ignore if she reacts praise if she doesn't, but takes time hope you get there.........good luck
  23. him and his brother played pretty roughly with each otehr till they were 8months and big dogs.....don't know for sure but i reckon they just smashed teeth together one day!!! they used to hit each other at full pelt....at least he should have conviction for some larger quarry species
