Thats it whippet boy.....work your arse off for no return, but it'll pay dividends in the long run....don't even talk about lurchers till he knows you, some keepers love them some are very suspicious,....my keeper hated them, he don't like them now but he's told me to do the cubs in some areas with them as we can't shoot cos of roads!!!!! talk about a change!!!

  3. This was never meant to be be against anyone, i take everyone as i find them.. iTs just as i read posts some more people than i thought would seem to have careers within working dogs etc!! The Keepers i know/beat for/elp out are anti lurchers, i'm the only person in a group of about 30-40 people that has one and works it! the hunt don't mind them and put on a show but there not into it!! the keepers/stalkers that have described it as a pikeysport....cos of what they read in papers/media, hardly anyones into it round here as the ground is hit for it......loa`ds of woods and fences,
  4. Same as above just wonderin really no convictions either way, i've been out with traveller families and, some i like some i don't!! just wondering who would say they are??
  5. Got a Honda Civic H-reg 1.4GL for sale It failed its test in November but the work can be done for £100 and a new test for £50! so a good run around for £250 for a year.....I have a suzuki and work van so don't need 3 cars! it failed the MOT on a near side top joint, a bulb and an exhaust bracket the garage quote £100 Selling cheap cos someone dented the wing with their foot and bumped the back!! Both bits of damage could be repaired on your front drive. If it wasn't for the damage i'd be asking £450 area....its a nice run around good on juice, clean inside etc, its got 3/4 tre

i am an ex sparsholt lad!! started gamekeeping 3 years to the day! Finished my course last june and to back up and add to what snoopdog said, Yes get work experience and go to college, sparsholt is best! I worked for 6months full time 8-10 hour days voluntarily, then while at college i spent my allowance on full to drive home and work- voluntarily!! every friday i worked for free, didn't even get lamping permission, never even asked!! then did my 10 week work experience on the estate asked to be paid if i did the full 19week summer holiday, after several letters to the land agent
  13. Yellowstone national park is not big enough to sustain a viable genetic breeding pool!! if i was a wolf i would chase the fat fluffy dinner that can't get out of the field than a big fit athletic red deer that regularly runs 20 odd mils for food!! and unfortunately any wild dog species would be crap as a hunting dog for our purposes as they won't move in on healthy animals as they have an inbuilt instinct to prevent themselves getting hurt...unlike dogs they don't realise that if they get hurt we'll feed them anyway...in the wild if they get hurt bad they die....so they don't take the

  18. I live in Ireland and was all preban anyway(you miserable anti b****ds) My dog took off after a roe he bushed out(by accident we were shooting pheasant) but off they went ....lost him for a while so i went round the outside of the wood calling so he could hear me while my mate was in the wood looking!! its a thick bit of wood!! After say 10 min or so my mates terrier nearly got the deer my dog had lost it and was searching for it in a sort of bouncy idiot way he does but from time to time it works so he keeps doing it!! but thats another post!!! The deer was clearly fuct as my mates te
  19. yes but once its under control, you can protect it, and allow it to hunt in a way you find acceptable....it will soon learn what you expect and to use its head.....my cocker was trained to be very close for non sporting purposes for 3 years she looked at the family for every command now i take her shooting i can send her on to work a hedge or field away or to me....work her close or at range and allow her to think on while mooching and for a small girl she does well....at catching and flushing.....a dog will always push for more freedom so i don't believe you can over train a pup...just too mu
  20. some dogs pick it up quite quick!! others take it slowly...my dog a pointer x is still settling down its prob now 50% adult dog time 50% puppy dog time....very slow.....when he's in one of his moods the training goes back a few steps other times he's bang on! but all pups over 6month should know basics sit, fetch, down, stay, wait, come....and any others at close range!
  21. yep i'm in there too!! have to chill out for a while....maybe even warm up...lol It also doesn't help to think that if you can't sleep you may as well stay out all night cos by 9.30 in the morning your asleep when meant to be working!!! only done it once but a very hard day
