I haven't read all the thread so don't know the craic n maybe theres a genuine reason but it is strange that even a comment from him or someone associated with him hasn't been put forward but if was to turn out to be a fiddle karma will have the last say I'm a firm believer in that..

I'v been going through something similar with my dogs the last couple of weeks, had tablets a/b stool tests 3 different types of wormers even tho they wernt due promax paste bland diet, 2 of them have got better and it didn't effect my old bitch much anyway, the other one seemed to have improved but has lost weight again so she's back in on Tuesday when she's finished these tabs for more tests..

I am the same as you mate,eaten loads of stuff over the years,from dog,cat,rat and bat to insects,reptiles,amphibians etc.I was in thailand last november with my kid when he tried scorpion and tarantula,said it was better than some of the tesco ready made meals he has eaten.Tilly,the chinese are a strange race. Iv done n eaten the old cooked scorpions spiders crickets and concroaches n that and don't mind certain fermented food kimchi being my favourite and I eat raw fish almost daily so obviously that has to be fresh but I wouldn't bother eating anything that's alive as said what's the point nobody needs it that fresh lol..

I don't know about more sporting apart from the forley type comps back then were as you know law was law but there was a lot of kick up outside of those comps wasn't there, I think your right to say tho there wasn't as many nobs in the game as what there is now tho..

I thought i was fit when I did it because I was used to going out with the dogs but soon realised it was a different kind of fitness all that assending and desending and it's like you say mainly due to altitude I think steady away is the best way i think..

I like a tight beam normally but and as you say on other more dodgy tricky types of land a bit more of a beam is preferable..

The 80s and early 90s were good times for doggin lads wernt they and it started gradually going down hill from the foster bill in 97 IMO..

I did the Annapurna aswell mate but I don't remember posters there but there was a few solo female backpackers about which is good for them in some ways but they take a chance I think, some of these country's view western women different to us don't they thinking there all pawn stars, the women are confident tho arnt they and you can't really tell them, I kept a couple of them company and safe tho so atleast I did my bit lol, lovely the Annapurna isn't it I love Nepal .did you do any other trekks etc there I did the Everest base camp from giri which was really hard but loved it never forget it

Alsorts of reasons isn't there some choose to disappear and some get taken against there will, I would imagine those that want to disappear would be able to do it in some of these poorer populated country's but they've still gota get there haven't they, some of these that get taken against there will could be anything couldn't it we've all seen the storys of a women that's been trapped and confined to a room in a back street house for 30 years etc, when I was in Australia almost every hostel I stayed in had missing posters on the walls of backpackers that had gone missing without a trace mostl
