  1. a year can you explain deker. liam
  2. well i think i got my first quad for £460 so that minus £150 is £310 , maybe cheaper off looking second hand wil they let me off on the cert for carrying a second .22 liam
  3. anyone have any ideas if you could pick up a sako quad without a barrel, ive got a one here already but i cant be doing with changin barrels and scope settings id like to switch over to using my 22 with subs only and the hmr for longer range stuff , ive got a 22 barrel already but id like another stock and action to fit the barrel too. liam
  4. what would you say bullet drop is from 100 to 200 yards on the hmr how many inches? i havent done that many long range shots but ive found aiming a inche above the ear on a rabbit seems to do me for anything beyond 150 liam
  5. i get all my reloading supplies from mike norris, i got all the kit for around 200 quid that included a press , 22-250 dies, powder scale , powder charge, primer machine, case trimer ,chamfer and debur tool, accurate 2520 powder and 200x50gr heads , no paper work necessary but i think its wise to tell your licencing department that you are holding powder and expanding ammunition. other than that its pretty simple aslong as your are careful
  6. £37 a box that has to be a joke .270 winchester which is the same case as a 30-06 is around 28 pounds here and a 25-06 is jsut a necked down version of the 30-06. it cant be that price.
  7. .223 ammo up where i live is around the 13 or 14 pounds a box , if your planning on doing alot of shooting why dont you try reloading you will see a huge difference in groupings and its cheaper by miles, reloaded 223 rounds will be cheaper too run than a 17hmr or 22wmr liam
  8. £475 , hmm i was under the impression you could pick up a cz 452 for under £300 , then add the sak mod which are around the £30 mark then a decent rimmy scope £100 or less , that comes too £430 if your looking for simplicity then its ok but i dare say you could source it cheaper, try your local dealer. liam
  9. all the seals ive shot are been shot from a boat somtimes its jsut luck when you hit themon the poor days on the calm days its not quite so difficult but not easy but theres always movement at the end of the scope especially with a big mag , its pointless shooting them if your anything above 10 the scope maybe be moveing several metres where you can see the seal. i have had a few long shots this summer but we have had a good summer with very little wind which has helped . some of the larger seals have been around 10 feet long and some small ones that have a head that could sit in your hand.
  10. i use my .22-250 for seals as far as i am aware you are aloud too shoot them if they become a threat towards the stocks of salmon and also if they come in side the bouys that are surround the salmon farm site, its not legal to jsut go out and shoot them. but technically there are some loopholes in the fac that allows you to to shoot animals for the safety off other animals but most people will have a condition which allows them too use such a rifle for control of seals the minimum caliber used to be .22hornet but i think its changed to a .222 remington. the laws are changing we had a write up
  11. never used one but it looks like you have to bore two holes in the butt of your rifle so those bolts go through then you can adjust the height of the cheek piece , i personally dont want any holes in my gun. but each to there own liam
  12. the question is how much weight can it support? i might need to double up
  13. smart lookin rifle that mate, like the stock is the action and barrel stainless (target grey) or is it blued??
  14. yeh white spirit would work well, wd 40 might require a little more elbow grease, none of theses should affect your metal work i have notices on blued rifles if wd 40 goes near external metal parts such as the barrel its drys them out and they seem to take on rust quicker than usual its maybe jsut somthing i see but i now wipemy rifles down with a rag wth 3in1 seems to keep away rust and a bottle is cheap lasts for a good time ,
  15. wooden stock or plastic, you might get away with useing thinners on a plastic stock not sure about wood as the varnish may react with the thinners
  16. those pics look a little like where i live minus the trees , theres hardly a tree in sight here. i got away with useing a money box attached to a wall for my ammo box , i does for keeping the FLO happy but its quite limiting for how much ammo it can store but i tend not too worry as long as the flo is happy then its ok
  17. they ask for a bj too , nah in all seriousness there nothing too worry about , jsut be calm. When i was questioned he jsut asked abit more in too why i required the caliber i applied for asked for more info on the land i was shooting on. basic firearm safety etc. and he also wanted to be shown the the gun cabinet and storage for ammunition aswell. that was just for the .22 and 17hmr , when i sent in my variation for a centrefire he didnt ask me anything seem to think i was safe enough and all the info i had previoulsy given was sound enough. No worries mate youl do fine.
  18. moderator on a 12 bore no idea on that one i aint seen one nor do i know how it works, as for the semi i think baikal make a 9 shot version but id imagine the weight loaded would be pretty serious. liam
  19. Firearms and Ammuntions can only be given as a gift if the certificate holder is under the age of 18, and i think they also have to be supervised when using them , some of the the other forum members wil have a better idea of firearms law not 100% sure of where the guns are to be written down, should be ok if you write for example maker cz caliber 22rf then the box of how you have acquired the rifle couldd say borrowed. then send away both of your certs they will see he is using your rifles ???? not sure about it realy call your firearms licencing department theyl have the answers
  20. i work with baikal mp 153 semi auto, jsut takes the 3 shots mine is crimped like that so no 5's for me unless i get a new catridge tube, whats ideas do you have a for a shottie , presumably a pump or semi if your applying for it on a FAC??
  21. arent some of those custom ruger 10/22 a serious price im sure i saw one over a grand somewhere . spending that on a 22 rimmy id would need to do somthing pretty special.
  22. i guess il just have to guage my self at differnt ranges on a sheet of paper?
  23. a firend of mine has a m77 mk2 in 223 its a good rifle , i wouldnt say his one works well with the factory ammo whihc is available to us up here in shetland . but i have made him a few reloads and he can manage inch groups no probs at 100 yards i dare say this could be better if i tried experimenting with some different loads of powder and overall lengths etc, but he isnt too worried about excellent accuracy. but yes overall good rifle very strong built nice tight bolt when its closed up his one is very slack and loose when hauled out compared to my sako but still quite smooth, the synthetic
  24. i havent got a chrono to check my reloads ive just taken the closest figure from the reloading book to be 3819fps many thanks PV liam
  25. ive got a baikal semi auto seems to work ok on clays but thats just abit of fun im sure if i rolled up along the pros with there proper clay guns they piss them selfs laughing at my baikal. if you want something good on clays get a gun designed for it but if its just for abit oh fun i personally wouldnt worry. i dont think ive cleaned my semi yet and there is been 1500 shots through it so far one jam with some light loads so it keeps amazing me and cost bugger all too. but as deker says why no O/U you will only gain one extra shot with both the pump and semi unless you want to put them on a F
