  1. im not having much luck with that link arveyboy. im pretty sure length of barrel on large bore rifle like this affects the total range and muzzle velocity so quite possible that the accuract international rifle isnt as long as what ive seen. liam
  2. i dont fully beleive 1400 yards is max for a lapua . but the 2657yards is unbeleivable that was the canadian fellow right, arveyboy is that for a 50bmg or a 338 lapua as i was under the impression the lapua is a AI rifle i dont think they come to 23k liam
  3. where can i purchase all the stuff online though, get it down quickly rather than doing it over the phone and faffing around with that liam
  4. that dewey rods setup looks quite good, could someone send a link for a online shop thats sells what i require including a bore guide and appropiate cleaning fluids liam
  5. im looking for a cleaning kit that will fulfil all of my calibers and future calibers starting at .17hmr,.22-250,6.5x55,338LM any help would be much appreciated liam
  6. it states harrasing fire at 1100m but i have read that it is accurate easily out too 1500m. theres a video 3 shot group inside 3 inches at 1600m i think. liam
  7. they are renown for being more accurate than the 50bmg as i think they class that as anti material rifle where as the lapua was purpose built to be a long range sniper cartrdige. i havent fired one as off yet just heard many things, but i do beleive that you wont shoot it long without the muzzlebrake 300gr bullet and 100gr powder charge in a rifle not much heavier than your standard 308. liam
  8. they likley are loop holes im awaiting my cert to be printed with the new calibers on it but it has been cleared then il tell you the conditions they have given me the .338 under . i dont think you would have many friends if you were hunting with them around here the report from the muzzle is supposed to be crazy with a muzzlebrake on it. but as has been mentioned just depends what your issueing police force class as non dangerous game. its a tricky one jsut have too wait and see liam
  9. as far as i know it is anything other than elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros, lion. dont take my word on that , so a 338 would open up such species as hyena , wildebeest and antelope etc, you likly could word it too your needs or non dangerous game bein foxes and deer liam
  10. 338 is not big enough legally for dangerous african game minium caliber of .375 is needed , i have jsut managed to get a .338 lap mag on my ticket and i have only had my licence just over a year i joined a shooting club and i am using it for target use and non dangerous game. they seemed to think that was ok. liam
  11. shit sorry mate, never realsied the 150 metre zero i shal do it again, 200 metres- 6.4cm , 300 metres-33.5cm 400 metres-83.5cm sorry that the value are in the metric system its jsut the way exbal works you have choice of metres and cm or yards and inches liam
  12. exbal doesnt have any preloaded factory loads for rws but i have a winchester 100 grain power point, with a muzzle velocity of 2960fps and a sight in distance of 100 yards the drop of the bullet will be at 2.8inches at 200 yards, 12.4 inches at 300 yards,28.6 inches at 400 yards liam
  13. im goin for a .338 lapua magnum only becuase ive had a hardon for the thing for months now
  14. what is the weight of the bullet and is a reloaded or a factory load , if its a factory load tell me the make and ill check and see what exbal says liam
  15. yeh a friend of mine has the doctor 3-12x56 very good glass but i hate the fact that the crosshairs get larger as you increase the magnification he doesnt really like it either its a older version he has maybe the newer ones dont do that now ? liam
  16. i think i will go with the sako im running a sako 75 in .22-250 which could be a foxing rifle if we had fox up here but i am very happy with that rifle so no reasons really why i should change , so i really dont need a variable mag for this rifle 8x would do me fine the S&B seem great value for money im just wondering if you could pick one up cheaper actually in hungary or is there not much differnce in price here and there , its just i have a friend of mine going out there verys shortly. liam
  17. I have recently applied for a variation for a new CF deer rifle i spoke with out local plod who deals with varaitons etc and he had no problems me getting another caliber on my licence this was not an official talk just a quick chat when we bumped into each other. so that aside i was possibly looking at new glass i cant decide wether to go for a fixed scope such as a S&B 8x56 or something with variable mag i wouldnt be pushing out very far for obvious reasons 150 yard max so great magnifications are not needed. i still havent chosen which route to go on rifle manufacturer im looking at pos
  18. i think there a pretty good rifle from what i have seen of them , never fired one. i think they guarantee some kind of accuracy level, so you cant lose and they are very modifiable anything you dont like you can change , trigger will be first on your list as you can get much better than the standard r700 trigger
  19. i shoot a .22-250 its a great round extremely flat , i havent found wind too much of a issue at sensible ranges but when you want too push out 400+ then maybe so but that just has to be learned over time you will get used to it then know how much to compensate for the wind conditions. liam
  20. i personnaly think thats alot of bollocks about it taking awhile to run in , mine shot sub 3/4" at 100 yards striaght away(and that is no ways good for a hmr) no running in at all think you might have a problem there or your rifle doesnt like the ammo you are using. Try something else theres plenty of brands on the market or use 17gr instead of 20gr or vice versa. liam
  21. looking for a answer , i cant seem to find out if the model i have stated above actually is supposed to have a floating barrel. as there seem to the a obstruction near the front of the stock where the barrel catches on, other than that there seems to be no other obstructions should i get the sand paper out and give it a quick sanding to remove this or not ? liam
  22. i already have the pocket pc , i just need the program i got myself a dell axim of the bay but i never noticed any with exbal already installed liam
  23. when buying exbal do i have too get it mail order from perry systems or can i get it as a file that can be saved to a disk and used on whatever? liam
  24. haha i bet wish you had kept ur trap shut now!!
  25. As I understand stainless resists wear better. Tends to be used in barrel burners - small calibre high velocity steep twist rifles. (.220 Swift leaves barrel at 155,000 rpm). b*****d to machine so not used in actions. RicW I dont know anything about gunsmith work but i thought the machining of stainless was alot easier now not sure about the past but now for barrels etc they add more sulphur i think this makes its grade 416 it is surely softer so it machines better liam
