Need a good bullet for Tikka T3
lgray88 replied to solo-hunter's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
what weight where the accutips? , you may need heavier type bullet for a twist that fast. Either that or try reloading then you can get all your bullets touching at least! liam -
foxes nah none of those feckers round here, where quite limited just for rabbits and for work

the .243 is a jack off all trades caliber , why will i need a .22-250 if a .243 will do the same job using 57gr bullet liam
-
i keep gettin pusehd off the idea of a .243 i know its a great caliber but it would mean getting rid of my .22-250 and i like have more guns not less of them. scope wise i was looking at a leupold mark 4 whihc now i realise is quite out of my budget at well over a grand for the 6.5-20 model, what mag is necesarry for this type of shooting as i really only got the answer of you will need a big mag and there wasnt any numbers stated??. But all in all i think im jsut a fussy C**t!!

i am not planning on any 1000 yard rabbit or deer shots jsut targets out to that distance and yes deker there is a severe shortage of deers in shetland so a trip out of the island will be in order for the deer stalking part. it seems everyone is stuck on the .243 idea, i should of stayed quiet then i wouldnt have this problem haha. liam

i dont understand , could you enlighten me ?
-
Thanks ML i understand all what you are saying, but it jsut seems pointless keeping both a .22-250 and 243 and i really want too keep the .22-250 its great for allsorts and its cheap too run as i reload, too much of a quander on what too do, it seems alot of these factory made target rifles dont come in .243 and instead .308 so then it will end up being a custom job if i go .243 whihc means more expense, shame they woudlnt jsut give me a .50bmg on my ticket then i would have no queries except how too use the thing
-
thats correct ML i will be reloading, now i understand i said at the start of the post i would like something of similar ballistic quality as my .22-250 but in all honesty if this is goin to be used a range weapon i will still have too dial in elevation changes wether i use a .243 or a bludy .50bmg , now for example what will buck the wind better a faster lighter bullet from a .243 or a the heavier slower bullet of .308 how does the energy on impact differ between the two as the .308 has the weight too hit with yet the .243 has the increased speed. i dont see the feo being any problem they se

i have one or two areas where i can shoot upto a 1000yards the hill i shoot on is a little broken so you need to get the right direction to the target or you can see bugger all, i have occasionaly shot crows at over 300 yards but nothin as long as 500 with my .22-250 i havent tryed anything too adventurous yet id far rather shoot with somethin suitable that can reach out that distance rather than pushing the limits of my .22-250 i know fine well its capable of 500 yard shots but not a 1 km. i have a open ticket so the land i shoot on makes no odds too the feo aslong as i feel my shots are sa

ive got the google earth up, 1000m is a huge shot , i think i should start small, can anyone recommend any good reading on the subject, also when shooting these large ranges are the shots always dialed in or can you hold over the target ? liam
-
woudlnt mind a 50 cal haha, not keen though if someone else is shooting back. so what the verdict on caliber this whole long range thing is jsut in the pipeline it wont be happening this week hopefully soon though but id like too see my options, and try too get a varation sorted, si there many companys who make target specific guns or is a normal hunting rifle good enough. liam
-
i would like too do up 1000m in time obviously, i was under the impression that some of theses professinal snipers where only useing 10 power scopes , i was looking at the leupold range it seems in my price bracket and they seem too have some large power scopes liam

i was hopeing too try somethin abit more exotic than .243 i mean if i got a .243 i may aswell sell the .22-250 or get it rebarlled in .243 and i do like too have more guns. i dont think i can afford anything huge on the scope side of things i was thinking a leupold , what sort of magnification do you need too reach out too these distances ? liam

i would love too get in shooting at extended ranges , targets and small ground game but would also like something for deer stalking in the future. i have a .22-250 at the moment which i wish too keep for work purposes. i dont know which caliber too choose for this type of shooting i do like my flat shooting of the .22-250 maybe its becasue im a lazy bugger, so i would like something that could be ballistically similar too the what i already have. what setup do you reckomend factory rifle or a custom job what type of glass? im limited too around £2k so i cant spend too much on the glass if im

never did anything to bad, used to cover the toilets in cling film then if any one shit on it they got it smeared over there arse and the piss would go on the floor. attached whistles to the end of the teachers car exhausts so when they left the cars where screaming, flooded the toilets a few times, tied the doors closed to the staffroom while the pupils got a extended dinner break im sure there where other things too. liam

if i go too remove my stock from my CF rifle to adjust my trigger will it be necessary too re-zero or check zero after i have screwed the stock back on? or should it stay the same im a little in the dark in this area because if its goin to cause hassle then i wont bother as i need too use the rifle tommorow and its too dark now to zero the rifle back in liam

depends how much you want to spend ive got my t8 on my hmr but for the money you cant beat the SAK its about £39 i think -
depending if your goin to be doing alot oh shots one after another you wont need a heavy barrel , all it is, is extra weight too carry around have a look on the the tikka website www.tikka.fi something like the tikka t3 lite would suit you good id think one of those laminate jobs look the part too look in to it before you buy go too your dealer have a feel of the guns, as for moderators everyone seems to say the jetz is the best i have a t8 on my .22-250 and it takes the crack away very well. liam

i blame provarmint he got us all started

ive got one of those babys , made out of galvanised steel it can fire a golf ball well beyond what i can see well ive never seen where it lands, runs on oxy acetylene, i dont know how that guy in the second video makes his go with so much kick becuase mine aint like that projectile weight must make a differnce
-
my .22-250 moderated with a t8 is no louder than my mates moderated .223, i havent heard much about the .204 but is it not required that a special powder is used in this round which is not open to the market of us normal folks? you really cant compare the rounds out of the muzzle they are completly different, you mention about a round which would buck the wind better than a .223 REM. if a .204 round at 45gr doing 3625ft/sec and a .22-250 round at 50gr doing 3945ft/sec i would have thought the .22-250 round would be better in wind they are renowned for being good in the wind.but i guess its jus

i have a gun here at home but the o rings and that are having to be replaced all the feckin time as its running around 5 or 600 psi, id say the worst place too be hit is under the jaw had that a few times , anywhere on the hands is sore too liam
