  1. i clean mine with abit of 3in1 oil, but ive only had it a matter of months and the muzzle end of the moderator is rotting already so god knows what its like inside. i dont know if it would be worth while given it a run in a ultra sonic cleaner then throughly dried out. liam
  2. sorry about that mate, just a lack of my reading skills there. liam
  3. a nick and not kill?? thats a very inhumane statement to make they may well be vermin but it deserves to be put out of its misery quickly and affectively
  4. i havent shot a fox in my life so i cant personally comment on the issue but judging by what other people say, get a dedicated foxing rifle such as a .223 etc then have a .22 rimmy or .17hmr for rabbits . you could use a .17hmr for fox aswell may i add at sensible ranges before someone kicks me in the balls. its all about shot placement when using smaller calibres on larger game. liam
  5. have you ever been up again since then, what is his name i may know them although being from the younger generation i may not. i dont live in lerwick myself i live on the out lying island called yell. you should try make yourself up here for the tall ships race when they come through here im pretty sure that its not too many years away. liam
  6. The Ramna Stacks how do you know of them RicW ? Have you been to shetland ? i must add there are plenty more wonderful places around here liam
  7. hopefully in the next month i should be accquiring my new deer stalking rifle in 6.5x55 , but i was jsut wondering what everyone had been using ammunition wise. as i am limited too choice in shetland here , i will be reloading so a rough idea of what i should try out first would be handy bullet weights and manufacturer etc. i am also looking for a decent set S/H sights for the rifle preferably something in the 2nd focal plane with 3-12 mag. liam
  8. i presume the second set of legs dont have any use? it looks as if that quails wings have jsut been swapped to legs i wonder if given the time to develop, would they do anything. liam
  9. i pay £11.75 for winnie 20 grainers i think the 17grainers are £12.50. and those bluetips where a £10 for 50
  10. is correction for wind a issue , if not then get one flat shooting to 150yards and youll have no issues on a good day. liam
  11. as stated the wheel slides over the paralx adjustment to aid in focusing, the numbers on the turrets state 1 moa you will notice 8 segement within each moa as this scope dials in 1/8 clicks. when your gun is zeroed theres a thin knurled ring on each turret unscrew each one and you can twist these numbers around so the zero matches up with the small notch on the scope tube , you can then dial in extended ranges say for 5.5 moa go up 1,2,3,4,5 then 4 clicks for the half a moa. then when you want to dial back to your zero you jsut counter rotate your turret back too the "0" number. liam
  12. i think your mistaken there mate when you say the 204 ruger is cheaper than 223 i have heard in past posts its over 20 pound a box wether thats true im not sure!. i think his best bet would be to try his rifle out on some of the cheap 223 ammo and see if it shoots well then just use that. if the weight is such a big issue and you really want a 17 hmr id go for a cz cheap and accurate. through time you will learn to flank the wind and how much holdover you need for your windage liam
  13. sportmatch mounts make a reach forward mount that increase the eye relief by a inch i think. and you could also add butt spacers to move the gun further away. liam
  14. i dont think there much difference if any when using .22 with a 16 inch barrel or a 21 inch barrel. heavy barrel will jsut add wait usualy heavier bull barrels are used to keep the heat of the barrel down, but when using a .22rf the amount of heat produce isnt much id go for the cz 452 style or silhoutte with a 16 inch barrel i dont think they have a choice of barrel thickness but the standard size is fine as far as your concerned. luam
  15. id stick with the bolt action. somtimes alot of money has to spent on semis to make them shoot that well hence the "custom" best off sticking with a cz there cheap and i have not seen a non shooter yet or spend a little bit more and get a quad but you wont gain anything im afriad i know all too well that the whole barrel swapping thing is a complete gimmick and as is the scope they try too sell you too. but then again you learn from your mistakes. liam
  16. im looking at purchasing a redding case trimmer problem is the collets only go up to 30 caliber. can you buy more collets or is that the max. could you a suggest another trimmer rather than having to get bits and pieces. i will also require one with a 6.5mm collets as well liam
  17. il go out on a limb here and presume you are meaning 17hmr. ammo choices is all down to what the gun likes generally 17 grainers do group tighter than the 20grain ammo. all the ammo is made in the same factory then given a different lablel and price tag to show the different manufacturers such as hornady. remington, winchester, federal and so on . just go out and buy a few boxes and see the difference then you will clearly see what your gun likes, no point basing your gun performance to a friend with the same gun chances are they will group differently. liam
  18. thanks mattydski , seems they have no laminate ones may be worth giving them a call , they have a few decent scopes thought that would suit there place well on the rifle i want. il give them a call and see what they say, im still awaiting my licence to be printed with the new changes so no hurry yet. liam
  19. i heard good things about macleods , do they have a website?
  20. i may be interest i still would prefer a laminate one but at the moment i have heard they are hard come by. would you supply rings and bases whats the overall condition of the rifle how many shots has been fired have you worked up a load for it whar does it like, what sort of accuracy have you been getting? liam
  21. i live in shetland that were the problem lies , as there is no gunshops around here and the closest is in aberdeen and i dont think il be going there ever again. liam
  22. it will becoming time soon that i will be thinking about purcahsing my new deer rifle in 6.5x55. is there any gun shops who sell guns packages that include a moderator and rings for a reduced price rather than purchasing the items seperately? i would prefer if the package didnt include a scope a i was looking to possibly pick up a 2nd hand schimit and bender. lliam
  23. nah mate wasnt meant to come across like that im just sayin youve proved me wrong in a fun way. but yeh 23k still cant beleive it . you can get a custom one made too your own spec with a AI Stock for quarter of that price , im in the process of deciding what i want i think it wil be a mcmillan a-4 stock liam
  24. 23k that a feckin piss take. oh well you have proved me wrong. liam
