hello doris . i use heavy duty tightly woven sack bags which i cut down each side to half way down from the top,[ the width of shoulder strap ] ,the inner top part of the sack is then cut off ,[looking like a womans hang bag ] and a bagging needle and thin string used to join both side ends together at the top and run down side, across half sacking and up other side to centre shoulder. hope ya can work that out ?. when i have gathered net in on end irons i turn my back to the wind with the sack strap around my neck hanging down my front, open the sack with one hand and let the bagging hanging o

  12. thius is my end of the woods. where abouts in soton, mate ? Its a big place,
  13. personally if the dog has a tendency to have a fragile tummy I would be v. careful of raw foods with high fat . . . . typically breast of lamb. High fat will be sure to give the dog the shites if so. I have always understood chick wings to be the "balanced" raw feed for dogs as it has it all. . . bone, muscle meat and fat (the skin). Please correct me if I am wrong. PS this is all from personal experience.
  14. had one that would whine and look at you all stupid, until I walked over and rubbed him whre i thought it mattered and that would do the trick. that dog dog had me well trained!!!

  17. well, thanks to k94v on this site I bit the bullett and travelled up to Uxbridge to meet up with greyhound vet Daniel Doherty. Probably the best move I made. The dog has been diagnosed with a stress fracture of the metatarsal. Fortunately I pretty much rested him before and it is a type 1 fratcure only. The bone has started to heal but now needs 3 months rest/lead walking only. This is s real bugger as the season is just starting down here, so I am dogless til Jan, but at least I now know what the problem is and do not run the risk of causing any irreversible damage. Gotta say waht a
  18. beleive it or not when they were four months old i dug some intertwining trenches on bit of an old veggie patch in the garden and covered them with pollythene and then the clay back over that, used to run them through once a day to get them (and me) 'trained' up but im taking todays experience as a positive. two things i did learn today though, purse nets and brambles cause much annoyance and just because a ferret heads left doesnt mean she'll pop up on the left. 3rd thing. . . take a dog that marks and that will save some time netting empty buries
  19. based in hants myself/ may just see waht your up to. Where are you? I am on thE SOUTH COAST,
  20. hey kenny, good luck with the nets and the swivelis a good idea. I did not realise you are not from these shores, so yes your english is understandable, and my apologies ! Ciao

  22. I have 2 hob ferrets . 1 is 18 mth and is proving to be a good little worker. The other is around 9-10 mnths and all he wanst to do is play. I have yet to have him out working but a little reluctant until he settles a little bit. Perhaps I am being a little cautious? Should I wait a few more months and see if he matures a little or get him out and get a morning work under his belt? Thx
  23. if what you mean is the nets is twisting then each time you finish a row, reverse the net..... do not keep rotating it the same way or this will ensure the net has a permanent twist. Hope this make sense. Also constructive criticism - sort you written english mate, it would make it easier for all of us to understand. All the best. D
