  8. I have a 3/4 hound 1/4 collie and he hit's the ground hard when running. A friend of mine that has had running dogs for 30years in the hants area and has a lot of saluki in the mix. He claims the saluki floats over the flint and has less damage to the feet than a dog with mostly greyhound blood. you pays yer money you takes the choice I guess. What dog do you run compost man?
  9. hampshire flint - tell me about it. Better known as Hampshire Diamonds. your dogs feet will come second best to the razor edges of the flint at some stage or other!

  12. every dog is different. I started my 3/4 hound 1/4 collie at 14 mths as I felt he took a long time to mature. However once I did start him, he came on in leaps and bounds with his obedience where prior to this he was very iffy. Almost as tho the hunt instinct kicking in brought it all together . . . . . he was fulfilling his role in life. I am told the smaller breeds ie whippet , bedlington x's can start earlier but I have no experince with this x. All in al I think you will know when to start him - when his recall, and obedience is spot on. Good luck.
  13. ok, so were certain it is tapeworm. It has now been eaten by the Mrs and me so I'll let you know how we get on. BTW I cleaned it and it was in the oven for 3 hrs!!
  14. clearly not the correct forum for this topioc, but can someone advise what these eggs are please? Is it safe to proceed with using this rabbit in cooking. Personaly I think it is a acase of cleaning properly and carry on , but woul appreciate some feedback. . . . . thx in advance:
  15. seen a half cross working but seemed a bit bulky. 3/4 cross would be better for more nimble quarry, but once agian depends what ur quarry is

  19. I have just noticed a "warn status" against my profile, can a moderator explain what this means please?
  20. The worms live in the gut, but egg sacs (water filled cysts full of tiny eggs) can be found anywehere on the rabbit's body: I was skinning one the other day and its entire shoulder muscle was covered in a big watery balloon full of eggs! Ugh!! I stand corrected. . . . . I have not seen this before and would think it unmissable to see, and therefore unlikely I would feed the rabbit to dog or human, but thanks for that!!
  21. paunch it and feed muscle skin and bone only. worms live in the gut/intestine I believe
  22. thanks for response. . . . any more peops had experience with this?
