  1. I didn't realize a howling dog was a happy dog? Not having a go, but I'd never heard that one before? We have one howler (SalukiX) and she only does it when she is bored and not worked enough guess it depends on the reason for the howling!! Mine have a daily sing song en masse and they really love it...even the terriers join in with gusto...then as suddenly as it started, it just stops! its pack communication and they love it!!

    Tracking

My OH is like hiawatha everytime we go somewhere...anywhere.....hes always pointing and saying...oh look at that run or that snapped twig where a fox has ctrossed etc......and hes always out laying sand round holes and tripwires of straw just so he can see who and when has passed through his patch......its almost an obsession with him!!! so you are not alone mate!
  3. nothing cos we are not licensed to sell it....but we swap it for fair exhange Just swopped 30Lb venison sausages for half a pig. We thought it was a good deal!!
  4. Hard as it is, you have definitely done the right thing all round. no dog is happy in a constant state of confrontation , you were not happy and others around you werent happy. breeding him would have been the height of irresponsibility with that temperament, and passing him on wouldnt have made his life better....dogs like that get passed on and on leading miserable insecure loves until they are pts. You have done the right thing and well done to you for doing so.
  5. they are down here on monday (nov 24th) as i have a delivery that day , so worth a call for this week.
  6. ok i know they are a little more expensive than most others, but i use petplan. I have 13 dogs with them and i make claims on a monthly basis and in 20 years i have never had a claim turned down or even queried. They pay up quickly and continually year in year out for the same condition. I had one hound with a chronic ear problem that never cleared and they paid up £ a month for 9 years....that covered the cost of his insurance premium twice over for his whole life!! I have tried a couple of others just to see if i could sve money...i tried tesco and M&S and both were a waste of time as t
  7. I have aigles with 4mm neoprene lining for standing around in cold cold weather and le chamauxs with thin neprene lining for normal winter wear....chams are lighter and more agile. I also have a pair of mouflon (mid height) for when I am hunting the hounds and have worn them for 24 hour stretches and run over 20 miles a day in them without so much as a sore toe. Cant say fairer than that.
  8. Hi Im not so far from you...bit nearer dartmoor....run a (sort of) deerhound (useless!) ....and a lakeland.

    Big Cats

I was driving near okehampton 2 years ago when something crossed the lane and disappeared thru a hedge.....it was about knee high and had a long tail and mocved in a feline manner rather than a "dog" manner if that makes sense? and when i paced out the width of the lane (approx 8 feet wide) the body/tail combination was 6-7 feet long. Then last year a similar thing happened in the same place and talking with the farmer whose land it was he had about 5 dead ewes in the field the same week. Last year I was driving across Germany and was sat in a road work queue.....as i looked to the side of

    Abandoned dog

sadly if its proven to be pitbull x "type" it will have to be put to sleep (assuming its UK?)
  12. i was going to suggest looking to europe to see whats available but i see you have got one from wales!!! i dont know the lines obviously...but...surely coming from wales, its similar blood to rest of UK??
  13. ditto everything drummuir has said. your stud dog needs to be hip scoredand eye tested. youd have to be crazy to breed without a good hip score/eye test.
  14. It is for 2010! say no more...but you could help with the photography??? ooops sorry....like i said i only read a few pages so must have missed that vital page!!
  15. I havent read all this thread, just parts, but for what its worth, I am a professional photographer and over the years i have done a number of these types of charity calendars inc a well known rugby club, YFC etc.......the one we have done this year is all completed and printed and already, all sold out already. maybe better to think about doing it for next year (2010) with a bit more time for the planning stage? Just my opinion thats all.....one based on many years of experience in this line of work.

    grand prix

Alonso will be the one to watch! He hates Mclaren. personally hoping his engine blows up as i think hes a jumped up little git and needs a few yers under his belt before he gets the championship.
  17. Id say swimming mate? swimming means you have to get her very very dry afterwards, especially in winter. personally i would say a gentle walk the next day would be more beneficial.
  18. had a good springer dog who done a cruciate in leg, spend a fortune trying to get him right but had to give up as he was never the same again, the dog was,nt content to be a pet roared the house down when i went hunting, had to make a tough choice when he started getting narky with other dogs when not allowed to go hunting and finally had to put him to sleep, but every case is different get a second opnion and think it through as 3 grand is a lot of money and would buy a good replacement dog i had a cruciate repaired in a working hound about 6 months ago and shes as good as new now. Cos

  20. well shes wandered about 75 yards from the court where she lived with her mother and 5 others......and she killed all the quail in the stable about 75 yards from her normal ferret court.....i reckon she might be lying up, fat on quail somewhere but worried she will keep on walking
