  1. if you have picked a responsible caring breeder, then your puppy should come with a diet sheet detailing all the food its had and will need, along with some of its own feed (enough to last a few days until you can get your own supply of same). It should also come with a sheet detailing what wormer it has had, and when it had it, and when it will need doing next time. Other questions, depend entirely on a breeed (ie a slow maturing breed will have specific excercise requirements you will need to know about)....has the puppy been vaccinated or microchipped? Again depending on the breed....does
  2. ........and as i mentioned before there was a woman in Luton breeding them and they worked well, the ones i went to see.
  3. you need to get a reputable wormer (not off the petshop shelf!) like Drontal or panacur and follow the instructions CAREFULLY (i know litters killed because people didnt dose correctly with wormer) I worm with Drobtal liquid at 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12 weeks, and weaning starts around 3-4 weeks(unless you are hand rearing then you can get away with 3 weeks). you need to mush up your pupy food of choice to a thick soup (I use royal canin baby pup and tripe and puppy milk blended into a warm soup) and start them on that every 4 or 5 hours. I also suggest you get a copy of "book of the bitch" as it has
  4. can you get emergency services conversations on it?....im looking for one where i can pick up the ES......
  5. i do same...pup jabs, then 1 year booster. However with the 3 that go ratting my vet does a lepto booster every 2 years.
  6. i agree lurcher girl...why would anyone risk their pups health for a few quid?
  7. miniature bull terriers dont need inventing as they are already a known and established recognised breed.
  8. let us know the date and time and ill be there!
  9. its 50/50 on our shoot.....personally im a side by side kinda gal
  10. thats a great attitude to have dawn, i just wish more people had one like it a farmer friend of ours has staffy bitch and she goes along on his rough shoot and is an excellent bitch for pushing stuff out of the tightest of places. there are a number of staffs competing in obedience now, thus proving they can have soft mouths, but obviously not all of them will have!
  11. im surprised as when our local rspca was over run with ferrets and they were all in horrid hutches......they wouldnt let us have one to live in our luxury spacious court because....and I quote..... "we dont let them go to working homes"
  12. i can dream o a nice old english...but reality is more like a cheap spanish ....mind you...the sort of rough shooting I go on, iwouldnt want anything expensive!!
  13. thats about the right price.....I have several of mine passported as i have taken them overseas for working trials, sjowing and matings. However if your rabies vaccination is out of date then you will hvae to start all over again with the vaccine and titre tests so if you want to go early next year, you wont be able to take the dogs with you (well not if you want to bring them back into UK)
  14. strongly recommend buying a book called "book of the bitch" as if you dont know this much (basic stuff lets face it) then you really need to read up a bit at least, if you are going to whelp and rear a litter with the best chances of survival.
  15. i have a hunter friend in Denmark who has one and rates it most highly.

    MARKIE BOI

glad hes ok....like i said in other thread, I met him, had a bird off him and even went ferreting with him and he seemed really sweet kid.
  17. i find overall temperament better in GOI and wheatens a bit sharper...but....work wise id prefer something with the GOI character myself.
  18. There was a lady in luton breeding them about 5 years ago...not sure if shes still doing it. She worked hers and swore they were good on fox.
  19. what does everyone do with their spent cartridges? We used to sell ours to a local guy but hes retired and we have boxfulls and it seems wasteful to throw them (have no interest in reloading so not an option). Any ideas?
