I agree with run for your life, let them sort it out, what seems nasty to us isn't to ferrets, keep your eye on them and if it gets REAL nasty then separate them, but a ferret pulling another by the back of the neck is not nasty, it's a dominance thing, and USUALLY they will learn where there place is.

Could Will and Run for your life start a new thread about pegs??? Anyway back to locators, I started off without one and for a while all was well but then i lost a ferret, now i have one and wouldn't be without it, i very rarley dig but if i need to i know where to find my ferret. Sure, ferreting was done without locators in the past, but fields were ploughed without tractors as well. Just because it CAN be done doesn't mean it HAS to be done that way, if the tecnology is there to make life easier why not use it.

I'll second that shepp, One mighty fine gun, some people say a little heavy, but i don't find that. I also have a gunpower stealth which seems virtually bombproof and gives loads of shots per fill, but the HW100 is always my first choice. Still be better for llyr21 to get to the local gun shop and feel a few first though, one mans meat and all that.

Ferret box,Locator,spade,Permission, Knowledge. Once you get them you should be all set. The first three, are easy enough to acquire, the Permission may be a little harder, but if you try hard enough, you should be able to pick up some somewhere, and the Knowledge will come through time and experience, Like others have said, if you can find someone local to you that will be willing to take you with them the experience will be invaluable.. Is it a Springer that you particulary want? or have you thought about a pcp? Will you buy new or look for a good second hand rifle? For £400 you can buy a decent 2nd hand pcp, i shoot a hw100k and i would recommend it to anyone, but if you are after a springer both of the guns you suggested are well made and both get good reviews, if i were you, I'd try both of them and see which FEELS better for you.

Well done for reconsidering Ian, and also considering others, ie US. (not the united states). I think one sticky stating ANY shit will not be tolerated and the said person will be barred should sort out most of your problems, also just an idea but would it be possible to make the site harder to find on google, i think if it was more down to word of mouth, maybe you wouldn't get so many assholes on here. Alls well that ends well! the vet said see how it goes for 24hrs or go to emergency vet £115 consultation. So i gave her 24 hrs, and today she's still got a bit of a limp but seems pretty lively and is using her foot. Looks like it was just bruised or something, thaks for the advice guys. And girl.

Cleaning out the ferrets tonight, one ran indoors, and my son shut his paw in the door by accident, now it is very quite and cant use its paw, phoned the vet and am waiting for a call back, can a broken paw be repaired or is it a case of humane dispatch, does anyone know? Thanks.

If it is a multi purpose knife, and your using it for multi purposes, the blade folds, and is no longer than 3 inches (the blade) you should be ok, but different coppers look at it different ways, and if you have it on you on a friday night down the pub, you'd be in deep shite.

There's no way you can give a ferret TOO much freedom, but like others have said, it's very hard to totally secure a garden, and ferrets do have predators, so just be aware of those 2 potential problems. All the best.
