I was up with the lark today to try catch up with a vixen with bad leg. I've been seeing her like clockwork around 630/7am most morning. I was there at 4 this morning, no sight in usual field but obviously I was earlier. Took a walk up to a field which I cut yesterday. This field backs onto a huge wood that I know holds plenty of fox. As I approached the open gateway into field I stopped to have scan with binoculars. Couldn't believe my luck, sat right in middle of field was charlie curled up fast asleep with his back to me. I set up trigger sticks, and I got into kneeling position.

BenBhoy replied to BenBhoy's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Thanks mate, spot on. -
Can anyone recommend someone close to Nottingham who would have good grey partridge poults available end of summer? Cheers

I know lads here swear by them, but I've had no luck with mine. My 3 door Larsen catching well but the clam trap has caught 0 so far.

I'm cutting today. I'd rather wait as I know there are grey partridge chicks about but boss orders. I'll just have to drive slowly!!

Why though?? I saw load of folk playing tennis at our village club yesterday; had any of them called 101 first beforepicking up their racquet?? Or the ramblers? Or boaters on the trent?? So why do we have to when there far less chance of us seeing anyone at all! From Wednesday 13 May people in England are permitted to take part in unlimited exercise, restart open-air sporting activities and meet one person from another household while abiding by social-distancing rules and staying outside. Simple.

I'm out Saturday evening. Im not going to bother my force. I will be travelling 4 miles, on my own and being alone all night before driving straight back home. Going by the gov guidelines (irrespective of shooting) I believe I'll be operating within the law.

I feel as though this is turning into Jack Russell confessional!! Mine was called George (as in Best) though Jekyll & hide would have suited him better. If he liked you then 50% of the time he was alright. If he didn't then he'd have you soon as look at you. Came from fox hunt kennels in mid Wales & boy could he work. He would take on anything (pre ban ?) & also tractor tyres & rottweilers. Anything he got hold of came off worse. And he never backed down. Use to love working him & so did he. Trouble was it was constant battle who was top dog at home too. He launched a
