  1. hi guys. i recently rehomed a whippet x 6 month bitch from a rescue centre. although no metion was made, as soon as i got her home i notice her kinda coughing/trying to be sick. from previous experience i immediately thought it to be KC and quarrantied her from my terrier. but now it been 4 days and though she still cough she not showing the other signs, mainly that horrible snot they get. so i'm wondering could it be something else? the symptoms do seem just like kennel cough, dry cough with sounds like choking almost sounding like gonna be sick. anyone know the symptoms of lungworm? any advi
  2. hey guys, just wondering how many of you use or have used justcartridges.com to order your cartridges from? just placed an order now, really need them here for saturday, anyone know what their delivery like? cheers.
  3. my lakey is smashing bushing dog, will go through anything once his nose is leading him
  4. hey guys. as some of you may remember from a previous post i have been looking to rescue a lurcher(type) dog from a rescue kennels. now before everyone jumps on me saying im wasting my time, the dog doesn't have to be the worlds best at anything, i was after one just because i think it a crying shame so many dogs end up in resuce centre through no fault of own, and i just happen to like lurchers. well we thought we'd found the one few months back but had to be put to slepp before we brought her home, gutted. anyway, finally found another and brought her home couple days back. she is 6 months,
  5. hey guys, bit of an enquiry into how much i should be paying for decoys, carry bag, nets etc.... just got back from a country show, been checking on prices there. i really want a decent net and few flocked shell decoys to get started with, thanks.
  6. yeah agree with everyone. i tried cards and letters, no matter how nice and polite, nothing better than face to face. i work on farm, i know how busy they are, barely have time to read things like that, let alone reply, best just asking, be polite, smart and know what your talking about. and if they say no, then stay polite, dont get arsey, farmers talk!!
  7. is pissed off cos cam belt snapped on van. nish good.

  8. jealousy or fear. dogs with timid, jumpy nature more likely to bite kids.
  9. gives them a coat that makes everything stick like shit.
  10. especially in the larger breeds, bone development take longer. best to take it out to watch older dogs first.
  11. bit of a tricky one really this... im sure everyone would agree that if your dog/companion seemed to be struggling, then there and then put on the spot i'd do anything i could to help out. but what if next time the dog is expecting that? and for some reason you cant get there in time, like people said, usually got well ahead of me, and im no slow fatty. this post is aimed at fox. pre ban, of course. anything i was gonna eat i'd want a clean kill and retrieve, but been plenty times i've necked them, as they are to feed the family.
  12. doesn't matter if they are travellers or not, anyone trying to steal a dog is a twat who at the very least deserves a broken bone or two.
  13. hey fellas. this might sound a bit odd, but do any of you keep record of size/weight of individual birds, especially if any are larger than usual? similar to fishermen weighing and then bragging about their catch! i ask because driving home from work other day, i saw a huge woodie that had been knocked over. i mean huge!!! my missus got home after me, and even she said "did you see size of the pigeon???" cheers.
  14. if you dont have a guide with it mate telling you what each notch means then prob best to buy a choke gague, cheap as off net. other way is try them, and look down or put finger in, the fuller choke will look and feel tighter.
  15. hello fellas. few weeks back i posted on here asking for tips before going on first time of pigeon shooting. well went last week and abso loved it. only the two birds taken, but was enough for my tea! just wanted to thank everyone who gave me some advice and i cant wait to go again. cheers again.

  17. pups first ever jab? how old? then yeah absolutely. thats what went wrong with this wee un i was gonna have, no one had given her jabs when she was tiny pup. supposed to have two by time about 10 weeks i think, she'd had none, so virus was already in her, your pup should be clean as a whistle still, deffo vacccinate. http://www.dogs.co.uk/content/dogcare/vaccinations.html
  18. nice one pal, sounds like your gonna have a top quality dog there, and looks good too. what is he tts?
  19. great looking dog, love the colour. look forward to hearing of her progress, atb with her.
  20. very sound advice from lurcher lass. deffinitely make sure first few slips are done once dog deffinitely seen rabbit, even if the added time means bunny gets away, a least dog will know what it's chasing. be as much of a learning curve for you as well as dog, so just take your time and enjoy it.
  21. runforyourlife - took the words right out of my mouth. any interest from the bizzies and i call it a night right there and then, known too many fellas have dogs taken off them to risk it.
  22. cheers guys & gals, was surprised at how gutted i was actually, i genuinely think she could have been a great dog, on rabbit at least, and a loving dog too. i'm gonna keep looking though for a dog in this way though, i do believe if rescued young enough then not only will pup get a good life here but will be able to work. i'll keep updated. chook - do you know why these reactions are becoming more often?
  23. hey fellas. as some of you may know i been after a new dog and have been trying to get a rescue one, give it a second chance etc (not,as some twat PM'd me cos it's free, you still have to pay for a rescue dog, often more than you would from a private dealer). after much searching found the perfect wee thing, staff x whippet, 6 months, absolutely stunning. took my terrier to meet her at resuce centre, both got on really well, put my name down, sorted. get the all clear from dog warden, paperwork signed. they take the pup to vets before rehoming to give boosters and vaccine just in case. anyway,
  24. cheers dido. got in touch with MFHA so wait to hear back from them. you talking from experience saying that it not the greatest life? i know it'd be hard work with little thanks for it. but i'd just love hearing about a good display from the hounds after a hunt day, knowing they were the hounds i take care of, know what i mean??
  25. hey fellas. i just posted a new topic then saw this one, d'oh!! my missus loves staffs so she bent my arm and we getting one but from a resuce centre, as they full of them for no fault of their own. now this dogs will be coming here as a pet first and foremost, but i go on many a mooch with other working dogs (terrier and lurchers) so staff will be coming along and will see if he/she is up to anything work wise. like i said im no bothered if it dont as it's a pet for her really, but what can i expect from it if it does turn out to enjoy a bit of work? ta
