  1. Yep, it's dire. Moved breeding ewes to their summer ground today which is very sandy & usually well drained but even that is bogged down. Touch wood none lame, put lime down around water trough. Not doing much for the barley either, far field, you can see where its laid over.

  14. Then fire away! If they are woodpigeon & they're damaging a large crop then GL31 says you can shoot, alongside other attempts to deter them. I shot 32 pigeon on a pea crop on Tuesday, legally, no bother.
  15. The Canada geese one is for public health, example GWCT gave me was geese sh1tting all over golf course.
  16. No, as it stands there is no GENERAL licence to control magpie in any way for any reason. Therefore you will have to apply for an individual licence.

  20. No no no, YOU as an individual do NOT need a licence. We have General Licence 31 which is species specific for woodpigeon and woodpigeon alone. So long as you have knowledge that other methods (bangers, bird scarers etc) have been used in the past & are still possibly used alongside shooting, then you are fine. You have permission from landowners,you are there at his request to protect his crops. He knows from experience that shooting is a valuable tool to protect his livelihood. If anyone did approach you (NE or coppers) you are purely doing it for crop protection. At no p
