  1. I love this breeding. My pup is line bred sal/whip/grey with roughly 1/4 saluki and 1/4 whippet. They are awesome dogs. Alot of people dislike saluki and say they are thick/nervous/noisy. I think this is alot to do with how they are raised. My pup is 6 months now, almost 7. Very well socialised and very confident, he is very intelligent and already chases anything that moves. He is very stubborn, which I believe is a saluki trait, his dad is 7 and stubborn as feck at times. At first it pissed me off, now I find it quite funny. He is silent in the kennel and car. Pic is in
  2. Cheers. Yeh I use her for bushing and she certainly isn't shy. She crashes through the thickest cover. I think it is just scratches off thorns etc but will keep an eye on it. Cheers. Gaz.
  3. Mohamed bin hammam??? That is a joke name right???
  4. Where are you located? I have got a brand new 12v 9ah you can have free of charge as long as you promise not to cook it :-) Regards chargers - You can get decent ones from the local "select house" or "home bargains" for about £30. They have got the crocodile clip connectors and a maintenance mode when fully charged. Also choice of 6v and 12v and standard or sealed. Hope this helps. Gaz.
  5. Sounds good mate. Keep in touch and let me know how she is getting on. I really like this cross and would like to see how they are doing. Jamie - That's a nice dog mate.
  6. I read alot of posts on heat Lamps when we had the cold spell. My lurcher is almost 7 months old. When he was a pup he lived indoors with a kennel for the daytime. When we had the really cold spell Jan/Feb and the snow he was about 4/5 months old and decided he wanted to sleep outside :-0 He just stopped coming indoors. He isn't a thick coated lurcher - He is Sal/Whip/Grey. The only bedding in his kennel is shredded cardboard about 6 inches thick and kennel is raised 3 inches off floor. I recently got a 3 year old JRT bitch who refuses to use her own kennel and shares w
  7. What is her temperament like mate? Biddable? Loyal? What size you expecting her to make? I will check pics out now. Thanks Gaz
  8. Tb25 - I'm only a quick drive down the A50 mate. Used to live in Hatton. Why buddy?
  9. Haha. They wanted me to pay £45 for a timed delivery. So that I get a 4 hour slot instead of 8 hour. Lol.
  10. Thanks for input lads. That's a nice dog pikesta. Anyone else got any pics? Gaz
  11. I think there are very different levels of training. To me being able to Lamp 2 dogs off lead and send them 1 at a time as mentioned above is a very high level of training and something I would never have the time or want to do. But each to there own. If my dog comes to his name, retrieves on command jumps on command and will stay at the other side of a fence then that is enough for me.
  12. Catcher1 - You said "all lurchers should be trained to do as told when and where." I agree that basic obedience is important and stock breaking is paramount. Are you saying you could tell your dogs not to give chase if something got up? And you could call them off chasing a rabbit for example? Atb. Gaz.
  13. BBB - Thanks for input. I spoke with Barnsley Ben by PM last week. I like his bitch alot. How much saluki in your pup? How is it doing? 3 Turns - Am I right in thinking your a fan of sal/whip and sal/whip/grey? I imagine they would be rapid both off the mark and top end. Aswell as having the stamina. My pup is sal/whip/grey. I am out regular with his parents. Sire 3/4 grey 1/4 saluki. Top end is unbelievable even now at 7 and his stamina is endless. The Dam is a 3/4 Grey 1/4 Saluki put over a full whippet. She is game as they come, mental in the head and fast as f**k. I'm hoping my
  14. Anyone got one? Pics appreciated. Also what are they like to work? And what quarry would they take pre ban? Saw a photo of one the other week and it looked very handy. Gaz
  15. Thats all I feed now mate. Butchers scraps including beef, pork, lamb, chicken, hearts, various offal, loads of fat. I supplement the above with green tripe, fish (Raw or Tinned in oil), occasionally they get a few eggs with a slice of wholemeal bread and once a week cooked lamb, veg and rice. Dogs look tip top. Gaz.
  16. No but I will check it out mate. Thanks. That's the sort of thing I was after, just someone local where I can buy a few bags at a time. Gaz
  17. Ive got a new side by side fridge freezer on order for the kitchen. 6 week wait though. When that comes I'm having the old one for dog meat, snake food and beer :-)
  18. Cheers for reply. The problem is they have minimum order Quantitys and at the moment I haven't got the freezer space. Was hoping someone knew of a local supplier willing to sell a smaller quantity. Gaz
  19. I am after some minced meat and bone, preferably minced chicken carcass. I know TPMS and DAF do it but I just want a small quantity for know. When ive got my new freezer sorted I can place a large order but for now I just want 10lb or so at a time. Any ideas? Anywhere in North-West region. Gaz
  20. My lurcher is 6 month old and until recently (last 4 or 5 weeks) he showed no interest at all. I haven't encouraged him as i don't want him starting too early. But we would be out on a walk and the other dogs would give chase and he would just watch and look at me as much to say "are they stupid"? Then we were on a walk about 4 weeks ago and he started showing alot of interest, sniffing bushes and running with the other dogs and he hasn't stopped since. I know if something got up in front of him he would pursuit. Its like the penny just dropped one day. No rush though mate.
  21. I dissolved a teaspoon if salt in a mug of boiling water with 2 x Teabags and when it cooled I bathed his eye with it 3 times a day. Just gone out to him and eye is bright and clear. Will bathe for another day just to be safe. While in here - My JRT bitch has got about 8 small scabs like pin pricks in her ear, inside but towards the tip of ear. The ear is hotter to the touch than the other. What could it be? I thought maybe my lurcher has chewed on it or ahe scratched it bushing? I dabbed it with TCP last night to clean it. Gaz.
  22. Cheers lads. We have got about 100kg so long way to go but couldn't find anywhere to take ten around. Readie can you PM me the address for that scrappy. I can get Chesterfield no problem. Gaz
  23. Does anyone know of anywhere or anyone who purchases alluminium cans? My old man likes a drink and has been saving them up for some time now in wheelie bins in the hope that he might get a few quid back. But no where is interested. There used to be a company called "Al Can" that would buy them off you but I think they have closed down. Gaz
  24. Thanks for all the replys folks. Much appreciated.
  25. Thanks alot. Just tried tea bag. Will do it again later today and again tonight for a few days. Thanks. Gaz.
