  1. My pup was a twat for biting me. He would hang off my arm, bite me if I was putting his collar on etc. I ignored him as advised and he has grown out of it now he is 5 month. Gaz
  2. 4/8 Grey, 3/8 Bull, 1/8 Collie Based on the bull greys both being half cross and the collie being half cross. Gaz
  3. That is a very good offer indeed. Let us know how you get on.
  4. Ducky Poo - I think there are still some very good whippets about and on here. OP - I would consider looking for something worker x worker bred doing what you want your dog to do. Hancocks have bred some good dogs but also some shit. Granted, all litters can throw shit pups. However i reckon the percentage of dogs that turn out shit from hancocks is much greater than that of worker x worker breeding. Obviously this could never be proven but just my view on things. Gaz
  5. Thanks alot for the decent posts and advise lads. I had the bitch primarily as a moocher to bush for the lurchers. The bloke wanted her to go to a working home as he hadn't got time to work her anymore. So I think its only fair she gets a few days doing the rats now and again if that's what she wants to do. Cheers Gaz
  6. Any more advice? What is the shovel for when ratting lads? Gaz
  7. I would also like to know this. I've read that you can use a strimmer engine and attach a hose to the exhaust. But an in depth thread on it would be useful. Cheers Gaz
  8. Okay thanks for the advice Rey. I was hoping that just having a mooch around may throw some rats up. Especially if she knows where to look off scent etc. Cheers Gaz
  9. Haha. Thanks for the heads up mate.
  10. Okay I will look into a smoker lads. Cheers. Pitchy - Call me stupid but what is the shovel for? I only got her today so want to let her settle in before taking her out. Took her up the local fields with my lurcher tonight and she was straight in the bushes and flushed various birds out. So fingers crossed :-) Gaz
  11. Sounds like he is worth a phone call. Cheers mate. When I have got a chest freezer sorted I wouldn't mind driving somewhere like that once a month or so and filling the freezer. Gaz
  12. Is that for training a pup? I am told that my bitch has already done a fair amount of ratting. I was just wondering what the best way of getting the rats out is? And if a smoker is essential? Gaz
  13. I posted earlier in the week about starting ratting but got no replies so trying again. I got a 3 year old jack russel bitch today. I mainly got her for bushing and working alongside the lurchers. She has done a bit of ratting before so knows what the crack is. I have got permission on an allotment with chicken sheds and a farm with loads of out buildings. Will I need a smoker or will just lifting up rubble and sheets of plastic etc be enough to start with? Obviously wear big gloves etc goes without saying but any tips for someone new to ratting will be appreciated. Gaz

  15. Rhodey - Is the "no messing, no fuss" with reference to raw feeding? In my other thread you said I shouldn't have another dog because I failed to housetrain my lurcher. Yet you cant be arsed with feeding the dogs a bit of meat?
  16. The main reason I didn't manage to house train him is because one week in 3 I work an hour week and my missus hasn't quite got the hang of taking him out every hour for a piss. So this means I should never keep dogs again does it because I failed to housetrain one? Regardless of having more than adequate outside housing?
  17. What do you like or dislike about the bitch? If she is perfect for what you want then put a similar sal/bull/grey over her. If you want more stamina then sal/grey would add a fair bit I reckon. If you want stamina and a smaller dog then go sal/whip/grey. What qualities do you want out of the pups?
  18. Staffs Riffraff - is your inbox full mate? I have tried to PM you.
  19. Agree with the tesco advice. Think cheaper is better in supermarkets. The bags of frozen mince are about 2 quid. Very fatty. Same with the fresh value minces. Beef and lamb. Tesco value chicken wings are cheap as chips and belly pork slices are about a quid for 2 meals worth. On top of this I get bags of mixed fat and offal for 25p a bag from butchers and same guy gives me racks of lamb for 15p. Gaz
  20. Craig lurcher man - how is your pup bred? Looks similar to mine and looks like it's a good coat on it. Gaz
  21. This thread has been a real eye opener. There are more bell ends on here than I first thought. Hunting lads stick together? Like feck they do. It's fairly apparent who likes to get out and do a bit and who is an absolute waste of space. I am just a normal guy who goes out with lurchers on permission for a few bunnies. I know of lads outside the area who poach, and they respect the land. You don't know they have been there. Poach land to death? no. Thieves? No. They do the same as me. You just don't know they have been there. Lads who are saying ring police before and a
  22. Red Collar, you seem like the type to sit on here arguing. I aren't. I just don't believe police would confiscate a vehicle, dogs, equipment etc due to finding ONE RABBIT!? They wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Gareth Gates.
  23. Supersam - Nice write up and comparison. Out of interest how are your lurchers bred? Gaz
