  2. Good write up mate, nice pics too, where in lincs are you I am just south of Lincoln maybe we could meet up next season and have a bash together. I have a large area of land to cover and its crawling, longnets maybe the way forward on some of it thats hard to use purse nets on.
  3. Hi guys, went ferreting last week expecting it to be the last time. We had quite some success, plenty of fat rabbits with hardly any carrying. We had the odd dig, always seem to get them on hedgerows, and on one warren the locators would not pick the ferrets up they were that deep. Unfortunately we only took 8ft locators, (I know you dont have to say it) and it was ages before one of the ferrets appeared and about 40 minutes before the second. They must have gone really deep as they were soaked as they came out, the water table must be well up and in the burrows. One of the digs was about 4

  5. Just been out this morning, had quite a few but lots of diggin.

  6. Thats all good and well for us that have plenty to go at but I remember the time I was struggling for some shooting, at that time I would and did pay. I joined NPPC and never used it all, things improved as they do and land started to come in thick and fast. I now have thousands of acres and its still coming in, its true that the more you have, the more you get, word of mouth and meeting the right people etc. All I can say is don't give up and it will happen.
  7. Suppose they need it really, thats what they are bred for. Just need to get them on some to let them get the taste of it.
  8. Yes sure does, I know they would be well up for it, they are always catching rabbits but rip them to shreds.
  9. Hi guys, just wondered if I should get a bit of ratting for my patts, the dog is about 18mth (nuttall lines) and bitch about 11mth. They are brill on rabbits the dog is an awesome marking dog, never wrong. The black bitch is a bit of a digger and fearless, still a bit flighty always running off looking for some action. Not had them on any charlies either, they dont seem to survive long around here, keepers sort them lamping. If anyone got some ratting close by, I wouldn't mind tagging along some time, can return the favour rabbiting next season, just stopped now due to young uns.
  10. £40 a day is reasonable, if I was struggling I would pay it, most charge £60-75 just depends how much you want to go. Knock on a few more doors is the best answer. If you see any fields with loads on and knock at the door some will let you shoot it for the day then its up to you to get your foot in.

  21. After advertising for help on here to rid a few farms from rabbits I met up with jam1 and stew dog from sheffield for a few hours out. They eventually got here after missing the turn on the A1 for Lincoln, its easily done now the roundabout has gone. We all piled into my 4x4 the 3 of us, jamie's dog a cross lakie border, 3 of my ferrets and one of jamies. I decided that we would do a local farm, Nelstrops and Branston, its heaving with rabbits but not easy work at all. We arrived in thick fog and after a quick chat we moved onto the first warren, a 10 holer in the edge of some trees. Within s
