baldockbanks courser replied to frankel's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
There you go mate, is this what you mean. This is Don's litter sister, and she does a HELL of a lot more than just rabbits mate. looks a bit more racey, but at the end of the day if the dogs do what you want, thats all that maters -

Iv not run the irish hare but Im sure Its a very close cousin of the blue hare, The Brown hare is the ultimate athlete regardless of what ground they are on. the blue hare is crap no connection with the irish hare. id say ye need unlimited stamina in england and in ireland ye need a fast dog with a fair amount of stamina and not afraid of hedges gates diff types of wire fences and smaller fields alot of english dogs couldnt cope with it and vise versa on fen land with some irish dogs only a small percentage of brown hares inhabit fen land more hares live in feilds and fenced land if yo -

if you brought a dog of him last year and he didnt last long theres your answer.! you run them earlie and broke them? Me and my brother got 1 f1 each both cookland 11 and 14 month they might end up no good at all but I will be the judge of that when theve got a bit of age on there side, thell get a fair crack of the whip. Its easy to hammer a young pup and blame the breeding.

I ant knocking your dog mate, he looks in fine shape. All im saying is theres a world of diffrence running a brown hare on open land to running a montain hare on long grass, for all I know your dog could do well here. And how good would your dog do in Ireland?????How many kill in England out 4????? They wouldnt miss too much. Nothing iv got is match quality at all! If the dogs breed from khan to a lurcher he could be fairly steedy and mine are sharp type saluki crosses, I wouldnt even bother running them at blue hares on long grass. -

dont get me wrong Id love that permission, but wouldnt a racey border collie catch rabbits up there? I dont think coby dogs would have the speed to keep anoth pressure on a rabbit to stop them going to ground around my way on big ariable fields, i have no doubt they could keep running all night, I surpose its horses for courses. -

Brother and Sister mating ??
baldockbanks courser replied to poacher92's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
you can not use human effics when it comes to animals as its totally diffrent. you wouldnt keep your childon a chain in thegarden would you. ruth ( the hippys bitch) was breed when a brother and sister mated by accident, and most people will not own such a good dog. I had same thing happen when my old bitch was put in pup by her son and the litter are good workers. saying that I wouldnt do it on purpous, but peole just have to give people stick on here over everything. -
any 1 running a 1st x whip x greyhound
baldockbanks courser replied to top poacher's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
in 1 word ..... BURNER. -
I run my bitch in a match and she wernt far off 8 against a younger bitch who wernt as good as her at all both in there prime, I was too confident in her and tried to show the fella up with my old bitch! I missed my first hare then she killed the next 3 but the match finnished 3 - 1 (best of 3) as I ran second. the hares werent brilliant that day by a long shot I admitt but the fella killed 4 in all and me 3. good coursing dogs adapted when speed diserpers but at that age I think its better to retire a dog to keep its good name in tact.

whats the best first cross
baldockbanks courser replied to wharrier's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I think it was more that some people are so secrative that theres all this.... pre ban, legal quarie bollox, I dont think you need to worry about the secret police kicking the door in if you state Quarrie, but perhaps he ment legal quarrie, rat and rabbit now what a boring world that would be! -

whats the best first cross
baldockbanks courser replied to wharrier's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
as an all rounder I hope a .. sennsible sized deerhound x greyhound. ( cause Im running 1 on myself! ) I dont think any other first cross would have as good a chance as taking the odd day time Hare, fox and deer. there are very few other first crosses with the speed and stamina for hare apart from the saluki 1st x and having had them for years id say finding a fox stoper is not very likely. -

baldockbanks courser replied to gibbo1973's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
deep chested bitch that lee, real nice, her sister and cousin both struck and picked first hares up on the lamp. saluki bitch made sure they were never going to get taken too far, cant be sure if any of the shot hit the hares before the dogs were sent to fetch her back?! -
