    i can honestly say my little bitch had plenty of wind and has run on lots of different types of ground. what type of dogs do you run? atb adam saluki lurchers 23 - 24 tts my current younger bitch came from my proven day time hare bitch. I breed a litter out of her. when the pups were 12 months old one of the dog pups accedentlie covered its mother. I kept a bitch pup from this mating. she self marked while excersising so I tried her a ferreting and she marks 100% works long nets and would match many a purpose breed x at lamping rabbits. as I say she suites my needs.

    Sounds a good cross to run 10 rabbits with. It wouldnt suite my needs as a lamper I dont think, Id be affraid a dog with that much whippet and greyhoud would be too much of a burner. But iv no expereince in them so I could be wrong.

    the dogs that looked and felt like they work? just bye touch alone how can you tell a dog works when you judge it in the middle of summer? do you know a secret I dont? some kind of wart or mole given to workers by the lord?

    dont worry to tell you the truth it will only affect a small handfull of people on here anyway. .... the rest dont even hunt there dogs any way so theres no danger of being convicted for being in pursuite of rossets! if you graft your lurchers dont take offence.

    you can not judge a breed that has not got a breed standard! Nothing worse than the lurcher show crowd. At shows a rougth deerhound x will always beat a smoth saluki lurcher? prejudice and a joke. Iv got both xs and wouldnt show either.

    Im not against shooting a dog if its no good or too old in the wright circimstance, but what you just said smacks of real selfishness. if I cant have him no one can, so ill snuff a healthy dog thats done nothing wrong out. iv known boys who have pulled chickens heads of rather than give them away incase someone ende up with a better bird than them.     Dogs dont jam on cause they dont have the wind! they jam on cause they dont have the heart! had dogs with the wind breeding and abiliyt that threw a one line breaker. had dogs that couldnt barley catch a hare that would run there guts out and not throw the towel in.

    do not compare a dog to a man they are not the same. Iv seen dogs eat rotten meat in the past that they have found, not only did they seem to relish eating it but it did them no apperaht harm. if you eat that same meat youd be in hospital a dogs gut is far diffrent! we were hunter gatheres eating little and often. The dog in the wild form ( wolf or hunting dogs ) doesnt kill every day and when it does it stuffs its gut then may go a while with out food. a day off now and again dont hert.

    the dog was giving to a pet home now your getting her back an selling her? so what you do gooder!? The old people cant handle it so he got it back of them its not his fault is it. its up to him if he sells it. Id cash if it I was him, what do you want the man to do set up a dogs home? ment to be a hunting site. far to many busy body - anti making money from dogs about, join the R.S.P.C.A and get a yorkie to cuddle. if you ant intrest dont bother the fella.

    well have to say fom what iv been reading on them,from what iv seen and what lads have told me the idea of owning one was short lived re-think time How about a first cross deerhound greyhound? I cant speak from expereince as mine hasnt started yet. I think mine will end at 25 to 26 inch so should do a bit of everything I hope. doxhope/cooklands generally come up smaller than some 1st xs. I never picked mine out but she was a runt and shes about 23 half to 24 at 7 month, If you picked a small bitch pup she might suite you I know the idea of ending up with a 30 inch giant puts people off

    Just out of interest, what percentage do you think this country has small fields compared to large open expanses like the fens? Atleast 90 percent of the uk is smallish fields. So by that reckoning 90 of the dogs are bred for this type of terrain but unfortunately the 10 percent left have the biggest egos. Fen guys don't want to run tight fields cod they know the odds are stacked in favour of the hare for a change and we can't have that. Unfortunately I've had my wings clipped so won't be participating in your interesting debate as much as I'd like, all the better I hear you say the more

Come on boys who we trying to kid , we are generations past streight lurchers for coursing , weve got far superior dogs now cant answer this the way i would like dont want to start up an old argument but youl find a lot of the dogs that are still run over here have less saluki in their make up than people might think talking qurter or less in alot of them and just a question for tomo if yea could answer that splodge dog yea mentioned how much saluki would their be in him if yea would know sorry fella i dont know,,, i think i

    whats me going to court for being on a lane got to do with having a big mouth! The reason I was in court was to test and get good dogs you have to get out there and run them, thats why I was in court if I stayed at home I would not have been in court. I put making the most out of a dog above risking court.

    Iv kept all my working dogs in kennels. a good warm bed up of the floor thats dry and out of the draught will do all but the most thin skinned whippet or imported salukis. I do put my smoth dogs in jackets if they struggle to keep weight on in the very cold winter. I would only ever give heat to a bitch with pups, lurchers and terreirs are built of sterner stuff than some think mate.

    why what,s wrong with it is it more of a challenge to a dog that just need,s to run for a long time let me no the problem of running matches in small feilds is FAIRNESS one dog may get 2 or 3 runs where his hare runs in the feild and the the other dogs hare gets to cover quick not giving the dog chance to shine. At least on big open land theres no excuse for either dog alough theres always a bit of lucky in a match as your running a hare and not your opponent. when you say feilds "STUBBLE" I bet you mean newmarket, royston and that kind of land that dogs have matched on in the past as o

I breed her out of a bed whippet dog to a 25 inch lurcher bitch I had myself too fetch the size up a little. there was a few usefull pups out of litters and mine was good. BUT she finnished only 19 t s taking after her sire for size coat and build. she didnt touch fox even though her parents were both 100%. but was a good rabbiter but I know she would have been a top bitch on lam

    iv said this loads of times,THEY ARE A NOVELTY ROMANTIC LURCHER. most people have got one cause a fella called Claud had one in Adernsfeild. get a strait whippet or if you really want to catch rabbits get a bed x greyhound much more versatile and will handle a nights work far better. or to be honest most 23 to 25 inch lurcher to lurcher with a shaggy coat if thats what you like.

    f****n rotate now that is a nice dog a bet that tank carnt run on the wet its two big n heavey he called tank because he slow and takes a mile to turn sisie his mam used to get blew off after 8 mins have you seen the dog run? Iv been coursing with the dog but i missed his runs as I was on another bit of the land but kelvin keeps decent dogs and he likes him so id say hes a fair animal.
