Brum, Odd that you call other law abiding people names but get shirty when the compliment is returned. Some other "prick" started the name calling on this "open forum", not me :wankerzo4: ft -

App, your mate shouldn't have to shell out anything. I'm sure there will be someone near you with a rifle who could help out. Try the FEO, your local policeman, any army base in the country and I will bet you you can find a stalker who would be pleased to help. There might even be a professional stalker interested in taking the stalking on if you have so many munties they have reached plague proportions. Then you could charge him! ft -

And who has rifled slugs ? I'm wrong and ill informed am I? If shooting deer with shotguns is such a great idea why do neither the BDS or Forestry Commission or even BASC for that matter endorse it? We're not talking about the states or Europe are we !! Deer deserve better and if you're a sportsman and countryman rather than a "shooter" ( there's a big f*****g difference) you'd know that. Muntjac are talked about like they're pests like rats ! They deserve RESPECT Oh I do love a bigot Yes there are people who use slugs in the UK, not many I will grant you, but they a -
Just been looking myself at the same thing, the bushwear one seems to be the best value; http://www.bushwear.co.uk/nostyles.php?Pro...amp;ClassID=182 there is this one too; http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trk...-All-Categories There are others but they are quite a bit more expensive. I bought a £99.00 one from Target Sports in their sale, i will not buy another! I have recently got three more permissions, two of which are quite small and I thought a portable high seat would suit. I had a look on google and found quite a few "Portable" H/S's most of which are very expe

Even with a rifled slug? A blanket statement like that is just wrong and ill informed  Many hundreds of boar and deer are shot on the continent with slug and flechette, in the states too. It would be just as effective here. ft -
Mr Logic, the reason that semi's are not liked at some shooting grounds is not just because you cannot see at a glance that it is safe, it is also because someone has to go round cleaning up after you. All semi owners seem incapable of picking up their own empties. At SWSG they put up with them, but they do like a grumble at you. I am afraid that I too would rather go for a decent secondhand O/U. ft PS; The new/ish beretta semi's are adjustable for cast and stock length, so you could get one to fit

By law you can use AAA shot from a 12g or larger shotgun for the protection of your crops from deer damage, but it would be far better to get a stalker in to clear them for you. Far less chance of wounding and less carcass damage! They are very good eating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Contact your local branch of the BASC or the BDS if no one on here snaps your hand off -
I only know one man who claims to have called munties with a blatter, he is one of the West BDS training team. I do not believe it is common practise and have yet to see it work. ft

We put 30 down two years ago and i think we shot 4! Getting them in the air was the big problem. It got to about a week before Christmas and the boy's with air rifles cleaned us out. They were good fun, if you can get them flying you will have some sport. The guy who raised our ducks for the shoot got them from a friend of a friend.............. Atb, ft

Remmy, you top bloke! Brilliant way to get people into the sport, I'm sure he will be hooked for life now. It's nice to hear of such generosity Atb, ft

Beagle, On my couple of trips north of the border I have brought some venison back home, a haunch and some fillet each time. I have never thought of bringing back the whole carcass. Surely you would need a chiller van to bring back a whole one? I have been told that some estates will butcher, vacuum pack your beast and courier it to you but have no experience of this personally. If you take a couple of big cold boxes you would get a dressed roe in them easily. I certainly can get a red hind haunch and some dice or fillet (if I'm lucky) in mine with plenty of room for cold packs to g

I did email them a couple of months back and they answered by saying here are a load of files for you to read AND the application forms for the licences...USELESS...so my defence is now National Security!!! Deker, that's an outstanding reason :11: Atb, ft

Deker, I will be very interested in what you find out. I do the deer control on a golf course and have just taken on a private airfield with the same problem. Have you tried emailing them? Head office is the place to start. If you put it in writing they will have to answer you. I found that when trying to get information from Defra about the contraception of wild boar in the Forest Of Dean, when I rang the local chaps and the ministry vets they had no idea what was going on. I had to email London for them to answer me. I wish you luck with your enquiries. Atb, ft

Sportingshooter and Mr Logic, many thanks for the splendid info. I was wrong  My apologies to the both of you I will have a chat with Mark, our local FEO and see if I can make his boss see reason. Atb, ft

While some of your comments are fair enough, you would NOT be breaking your FAC terms if you bought thousands of FMJ heads. They are Unrestricted, they do not require a firearm certificate to purchase or store. You would only break FAC terms if you loaded all of them at once. Mr Logic, that is not how West Mercia see it. That is why they have used their wording very carefully, "Ammunition including expanding ammunition and expanding missiles. It is something I have asked my FEO about! They have phrased it to mean all ammunition + expanding, and that is what they expect us to abide

Andy, I think if you read the thread and what is written on our certificates (ie; "2. Ammunition including expanding ammunition and expanding missiles") it is self explanatory. We are limited in relation to all ammunition for our rifles. Not just expanding ammo. Not everyone is as fortunate as you say you are. Different Firearms Dep'ts have different wording that they apply to licenses. And the gundealer is not a "knob" or a "homer". He has just read the certificate and abided by its conditions. And yes I could order a 1000 or more FMJ's over the internet, but I would be breaking t

Sporting shooter, My FAC is worded thus; "2. Ammunition including expanding ammunition and expanding missiles". I have 160 hold, 100 buy. Thats in total for both, printed on my FAC. I think this may depend on your Firearms Departments wording, because I have a mate near Whitland in Carmarthenshire who does not have this restriction. He has Northern Europes surplus supply of bullets in his reloading room Atb, ft

Deker, while I agree wholeheartedly with you that you need a license to shoot deer at night, I am afraid I cannot agree with you about the "Farmer's Defence". The Farmer's Defence is enshrined in the Deer Act 1991 and was not repealed by the 2007 Regulatory Reform (Deer) (England & Wales) Order 2007. This is substantiated by the BDS Training manual for Deer Stalkers 2007 which mentions both parts of the act and simplifies it for folks like me into plain english. Do not give the b*ggers more power than they already have. I hate Natural England/Defra with a passion, they know noth

Well done that man Your neighbours should thank you too Atb, ft

Am I in a world of my own here? I keep re-reading the act and the relevant passage of the act and you do not need to consult anyone if you farm in England & Wales and are the farmer or his appointed agent. Why are you contacting Natural England unneccessarily? I repeat, "On any cultivated land, pasture or enclosed woodland, deer may be shot at any season". Unless someone has changed the law and not publicised it??????? Mind I could just be being thick ft Edit; Right I have just been reading the 2007 amended act and even though Natural England would like you to apply for li

In England or Wales the farmer or his appointed agent can cull any deer doing damage to his crop., The actual wording of the act being; "On any cultivated land, pasture or enclosed woodland, deer may be shot at any season". There is more, but that is the relevant bit. The condition being that they can only be culled where they are damaging the crop, you cannot intercept them on the way to or from the crop. It is different in Scotland where you need a license from the DCS. Night shooting licenses can be applied for in areas where it would be dangerous to cull during the day, local

I do not think that gory posts should be banned, perhaps a "graphic" in the post title might help the sqeamish. But Mr Logic gets my vote every time for clarity of thought ft
