  1. Cheer's Al, Mal, and everyone... haven't seen him back since yet, but still hoping..... I'll try the carrots and mollases thing Martin thanks, I did put a scoop of coursemix behind the tape for him, but I expect the phesants cleared that up before he got a look in
  2. Yes reasonably, I'm a bit rubbish at judging distances... but I'd guess that was no more than 30 yds away... The horse was blocking us from his view first off, so we didn't startle him, he was looking straight at us several times, but seemed relatively unfazed.
  3. Yeah too right, I've seen them from a distance before, or a fleeting glance, but never this close, let alone 50yds from my house, and for that long... I'm chuffed to nuts, I'm hoping he'll be back for my husband and kiddies to see too
  4. I know some people see them every day out and about, but for my area, its quite rare. I couldn't help but get a tad excited
  5. Teeth no, but does his tounge count?
  6. Thanks, knew he was a boy, but wasn't sure if he was Roe or Fallow
  7. So there I was this avo, talking to my aunty about my 2 yo filly, leaning on the fence and feeding the filly some carrots.... We were chatting away and she said, "oh you got a goat now too?" ... "No" I said, so she asked, "Well whats that then?" ..... Down the bottom of the paddock behind the electric tape was a deer... After I stopped myself squeeling I managed to run back to the house to get the camera, and snap these few shots... It wasn't easy, having a horse nudging and biting my elbow at the same time as trying to focus, and if I'd had a better zoom lens these could have been cracking
  8. Lovely, the ducks look very plump and healthy!!
  9. Castrating bullocks, got kicked in the chops and arm, and flung on my back in the cack a poo poo... I'm not sure what hurt most, that or seeing the bloke I worked with smirking! ... That hurt, but the most sickening hurt has been tearing the ligaments in my ankle... sounds nothing but soooooo so so hurt... Having my nose "popped" by my young thoroughbred's head kind hurt too... my li'll bro said it sounded like a carrot crunching

  12. Well.... If you imagine that foal being 4 inches taller than the mare (which is about the height she should make) but keeping those same sized legs........... This little paragraph sums it up quite well... foals are born with long legs, nearly as long as their dam's. This means that a foals legs at birth are very close to the same as their adult length. Their bodies (ribcage/torso) are tiny in comparion, the neck short, and head small. These will change as the colt (foal) matures, but the leg length grows far less than the rest of the body. Although they may reach 90-95% of the
