  1. Yes mate they did the rest but i had them in together with another hen all winter and they just got on with it when they wanted to,i did have extra lighting on so they did come into breeding condition early(first mules of the year thread)is down to them.
  2. I give it about a week and a half also i was advised and after seeing it for myself i do leave any clear eggs in the nest for the chicks that do hatch to lean on and help support themselves on when reaching to be fed and i take them out after i think the chicks don't need them.
  3. Same as Dotty,i just use a smaller torch .
  4. I've never owned a cock canary in my life and don't ever want to if the truth be known and my cock finches have paired up ok with canary hens,i did try running two hens with my goldie cock both nested but one clutch was all clear so he had just paired with one hen but my greenie cock is a right fertile randy so and so and i recon given the chance he'd sort two hens out ok.
  5. No mate i've been lucky but not every egg has hatched so he may well have poked a hole in one in the past allthough i do candle all my eggs and check them over and i haven't found one with anything wrong with it except it being clear,i don't think i'd risk it with any other goldie cock as like i say mate i've been lucky .
  6. Your going to need a bigger cage for when that lot fledge mate ,well done thats a good clutch.
  7. With my mules i get the cock onto another hen(if i have one doing nothing) as soon as the other hen goes down tight and i've not lost a chick yet to any hens not keeping up with the chicks demands.Saying that my greenie cock if left in with them will help feed the young as well as feeding the hen ,my goldie cock will feed the hen but not the chicks.
  8. Do know where your coming from but with them being blackcaps i think i would have tried myself,my god 55 guests and 2 members on a bird thread .
  9. Dooty doo empty your in box.

  10. Did you ever try putting the Blackcaps eggs under anything else to hatch off?,again brilliant pics of brilliant birds.
  11. No to the cat food but everything else sounds good and they all hatch like that and have you ever seen such a delicate life form in your life? .It's amazing they survive at all or even manage to lift their heads for feed, with the egg food and soak seed just don't put out to much as they can and do both go stale or sour. You could try some live foods for them as well, get a brolly and hold it upside down under a bush, shake said bush and put the bugs and caterpillers in a dish in the aviery or put some old fruit in a bucket with a mesh top on(just to stop the birds from getting to the rotting fru
  12. Cracking bird and pic .
  13. As it happens my local newsagents is being fecking crap about getting it for me but most will order it in for you with no probs,i read this weeks at a aviery center when i was there buying feed for my birds.
  14. Cage bird and aviery mag has had some pairs in the last couple of weeks.

    QPR

With there money they can get good lawyers so we'll have to wait and see, West Ham got away with a few years ago so maybe we'll be ok.
  16. I'd say learn as much as you can,the runnings and costs of things as around this part of the world chicken and turkey rearing is very big and i've seen a few chicken farm workers and managers jobs going with a house with it,who knows it might be for you but without the right knowledge you won't know.
  17. Seen a few white ones in a couple of gardens i work in and so one old boy told me though not sure how true it is on native blue bells the flowers hang off one side of the stem on hybrids or continental blue bells they hang from both sides of the stem, there is a difference on some if you look mind.
  18. Feck giving that fella on the second from last pic a game, beat him and he'd suck your eyes out

    QPR

Recon if they do go up there'll have a few quid to spend and Warnock is a good manager so they might sail close to the wind for the first season or two butwho knows, anyway it has been nice to be winners for a bit .

    QPR

As a QPR fan let downs are a common thing but now we have a glimmer of hope at winning something(we were once runners up in the FA cup but thats about it )i can't help but feel we'll feck it up and finish behind Norwich ,now normaly i wouldn't mind but my 83 year old neighbour is a canary fan and if they win he'll have flags, buntings and bushes drapped with scarfs all over his house and lawn and that would stick in the old craw  i'll tell you,so any QPR fans out there(yes i know there won't be many, before you all start )realy believe they'll do it and become champions this weekend?.
  22. A mates collie x was sat watching the water whilst he was sea fishing and she shoved her head in and pulled out a dogfish,a fur,fin and feather dog.
  23. I had a set up pulled in from Boscombe Pier by a jet skier once, turned the air blue a little i did but a smooth sea bed and a set of feathers on my other rod saw it hooked back in.Did go get 20 quid of the bloke for my hassles afterwards mind, lol.
  24. The fridge bit isn't really needed as long as it's cool the eggs will be fine,as for how many? my canaries all lay a different number of eggs from 2 to 5 before they sit tight.Your other questions well, very rarely will they try to nest share and no they don't lay to many eggs for themselves to sit on.Good luck with the hatching off.
