  1. Didnt know Alan Carr was into a bit of ratting ,right side of last pic ,lol.
  2. You lads for real ,whats good about putting down a squirrel in a field for a dog to chase .Pathetic.
  3. The respect for quarries and seasons is something that is generally passed down from mentor to pupil .Seems to be a few young uns out and about who neither want or think they need tutoring .It is no good all you whiners moaning about it when some do nothing to promote the ethics we live by .How many of you seasoned terriermen have a lad along these days .not many i,ll bet.The argument for dig and release has never been one im comfortable with but maybe we are lucky around here in that we have plenty to go at .I dont know a single farmer /keeper that allows lads on to dig then release quarry an
  4. Your not getting the point mate.Nobody can bang on about how important fox control is to a farmer then slag off another method that dosnt fit with his idea .Im the first to stand up for terrier work and will defend it to the last but some in hunt service ,Mr H include seem to think the fox is theres and theres alone .Pathetic .Like i said ,double standards but hes not alone in that respect.Just thought id point it out for the disciples .
  5. Probably get f****d for this but here goes . Im an all round fox controller.I use many methods of control to help out landowners in the never ending battle against charlie .Dont get me wrong ,terrier work is my lifelong passion but its not the way to control fox numbers properly but merely a tool to this end .A while ago ,i shot a pair joined with a rifle and put the pic on here which mr H went to town on in the mag but at the same time he is justly proud of shooting a pair in a stop end .The double standards he lives by are amusing to someone who sees the bigger picture. Makes me smile how
  6. Your only choice is leave them alone for a while mate
  7. GOOD TO HEAR ABOUT OTHERS EXPLOITS MATE .KEEP THEM COMING ,THANKS.
  8. In the years ive had terriers, ive had two fighters that drove me fecking mad . One a dog that was the worst kind of fighter ,no niose ,no warning ,just latch on given the chance .He was an outstanding earth dog however ,never letting me down which really was his only saving grace, nasty b*****d .Tried him over a bitch ONCE and he savaged her so NEVER BRED FROM HIM .Walked him alone at night on the lead and learnt to live with it . The other was a bitch that hated other bitches of any breed that also earned her keep as an all rounder but was a liability off lead. Both were of Nuttal breeding
  9. As far as im aware every male deer of every species rubs at certain times of the year.Except those without antler eg CWD
  10. Been concentrating on the foxes here though havnt seen a single deer since the snow started. Its a big shock to lowland deer i think and they stay put for a while.Well done on your pricket mate.
  11. If its from a line of workers then faults are few and far between by nature of culling hard the week and non workers .
  12. Got a pair from a charity shop ,proper grandad button pair ,red white and blue.
  13. Cheers for those vids Tufty ,good memories there .Not so much the ska mind .The pimped up scooters fascinated me as did the many variations of the flat top .I had a horse shoe [what a twat looking back ]and my mate had a stray cat cut out .
  14. King Kurt ,now theres a memory ,pile driver boogy .Used to be a girl with them that did all comers on stage, dirty slag .Saw the cramps at the Colston hall when Lux interior, lead singer, swallowed the mic and was stretchered out .That wrecking was mad mind ,Shirtless ,combats and boots up to my knees ,sweat and beer flying .Followed the meteors wherever they went ,mainly Bristol Beer Kellor as they were all Bristol lads .4 skins gigs were the ones to go for a fight ,always a fight .
  15. If the man is genuinely breeding good stock then he will rarely lead you astray as your future is his future too in a round about way .Just would be nice to hear about more more lads asking for breeding advice rather than going it alone on a tangeant that goes nowhere .Getting older you realise that these things are what is important rather than the strong head of "i know better".I know of a couple of lads ,well three if im included that wont have a pup back if the breeding wasnt discussed and for good reason .
  16. Must be some of you out there that were skinheads or billies.Did you ever get down to Weston Super Mare in the early eighties..4skins ,meteors and the cramps .Wrecking ,beer keller ,fighting and taking the piss .Good times if a little rough .Needs a movement now if you know what i mean . Fed up with all the mambi pambi do gooders .
  17. Just to clarify a point mate ,the buying ,selling of a pup dosnt come into the values im talking about so dosnt apply . The old value i speak of as that of wanting to ask his opinion not of being required to .Lines of workers are not by chance ,they are created by a long term commitment and plans adhered to when the result is good .His opinion counts for more than your guess work every time .
  18. Thats what im talking about dee mac .Most line breeders will have a dog lined up in the back of their minds to suit any given generation and its that knowledge that needs to be retained .ignore at your peril .
  19. Was chatting to a mate today and one of the things that came up was something i take for granted but which he says is dying fast .That is the practice of asking an owner of a line of terriers what he recommends you should put over a bitch you have off him .Im not talking about the one time breeder of a chance mating but someone who is respected in their production of worker after worker from a true line .Its my opinion that this practice is what keeps the lines alive and virulent and protects the working values .Offering a pup back too on first refusal is important as well .Your views please.
  20. My post refers to you mate .The only grey areas are when the torch is fading .Just get out and dig fella.
  21. Get one mate ,use it for rats and rabbits but do us all a favour and never mention it in the same sentence as a worker and please dont breed from it ,too many dogs bred off shite and sold as digging stock as it is without adding to them .No well bred working terrier needs a website to promote what it does .
